I think your will power is one of the most powerful weapon that will help you to quit this habit. You can also join any rehabilitation center.
Avatar m tn I am so glad that you have finally come to a realization that alcohol abuse is truly poisonous to your body. It leaches vitamins and nutrients out of you and damages your central nervous system. That is why I always suggest that alcohol detox take place in a hospital under medical supervision. You need to be on medication such as benzodiazapines to prevent seizures and have IV vitamin supplementation, especially thiamine, among others. Please do not take this advise lightly.

Avatar f tn Congratulations on your choice to quit drinking, it won't be long until the smell of alcohol goes. After quitting myself for the last 13+ years I can tell you that I very early on hated the smell of alcohol, so you may be getting more sensitive to the smell since quitting...

Avatar f tn I was on xanax for 1.5 years and antidepressants on and off during that time. I am now off all drugs for 5 weeks. My body is so sensitive to all meds now. Like over the counter aspirin or ibuprofen or even taking kids vitamins. Does anyone else have problems since they came off their medicines?
Avatar n tn I dont think your tolerance for alcohol has anything to do with the drug they use durring the procedure. The agency that governs drugs and alcohol in your country will surely have different regulations and the technics used for a root canal may be entirely different. I wish the best for, take care.
Avatar m tn Recently I started tracking all of the business an social events I have been at with alcohol involved and noted that I have steadily "trained" for alcohol intake the last 15 years. I would prefer to just cut it all off but of course there is always a holiday, birthday, event or something else that either prolongs it or delays quitting. What is an effective way to just say "I am done with drinking?
2217782 tn?1394363972 ve been sober/clean one day at a time for 29 years now.....stopped at age 28 and am 57.I began young w/alcohol @ 14 and drugs @17.My life is better minus all of it.......and my occasional urges to use these days...which last 15 minutes are no more than a juvenile escape fantasy from some difficult life things...which wouldn't make any of it go away or get better!I'm glad i never accidentally overdosed...or killed anyone with my past often bad habit of drunk driving...
Avatar n tn Are you quitting completely? You didn't mention that. If you're having DTs you really need to go to the ER and get detoxed. Alcohol WD also plays with your BP. You could have a stroke. Doctors need to monitor you. As shmtty28 mentions, it's very dangerous if you're real toxic and you maintenance drink all the time. Also, look up your local AA hotline and talk to the person on the other end about exactly how you feel right now.
Avatar n tn Which vitamins are most depleted in one's body when drinking alcohol excessively?
Avatar f tn m clean from cocaine (crack) 10 years next month. what worked for me was going to 12 step meetings (admittedly i went for about a year)...changed all my friends..slowly but surely there is no longer anyone in my life who uses cocaine! it took some time, but that's what it took for me...time and replacing 'unhealthy' 'friends' with HEALTHY ones and true friends. Glad you are here...keep posting and stay strong!
Avatar n tn Then I started taking only Norco 10 mg. plus my 6-10 beers per day for 4 months. For 3 months I was taking 20+ Norco plus my 6 to 10 beers and 2 to 3 Xanax (2 mg). I started tapering off about 2 months ago and now I am down to 2-4 Norco, 1-2 beers and 2 Xanax. I have been feeling horrible!!!! Anxiety, Panic attacks, crying, jittery, depression, slight suicidal, sweating, chills, coldness, diarrhea, no appetite, stomach pain, and jumpy legs and body.

768754 tn?1373918737 vitamins/supplements. Are there any other specific concerns about multi-vitamins for Hep C+ people, not currently under tx? Thanks.

Avatar f tn So my husband and i began taking Roxi's about two months ago - we actually used it because we were in pain... at the time. Now, we are not in pain, and we cannot handle feeling dependent on anything. I hate the w/d symptoms!! Honestly, when we first began taking them we didn't know about the withdraw symptoms. Well, we didn't have any money for a day or so and thought we honestly had the flu. A friend who was using and abusing as well told us just get some and we'd feel better.
1110022 tn?1258389904 i have never quit drinking for a month. im speaking of addiction in general. and i do have experience quitting smoking. that got way easier after a month.
660680 tn?1225215237 I suggest that you go to a treatment center for alcohol 28 day program. Its a good place to go for help they will teach you how to stay sober I no have been a couple of times but the last time I went and finished I got involved with AA and have been sober for a while now. You can do it if you have had enough of the drinking and want a better way of life. Let go let AA. help.
948349 tn?1294380237 I think if people are quitting smoking, they should be advised to avoid caffeine while they are quitting, for about a month! Otherwise, you will get a craving which will be as intense as the amount of caffeine ingested. I had 3 cups of coffee.... and i layed there in bed with a craving so intense, it lasted about 3 hours STRAIGHT! Even water wasn't helping. Just a tip for people trying to quit. Alcohol also makes you crave, so avoid that too while quitting.
Avatar m tn Hi, not sure if this helps but my drinking masked everything - emotions, physical pain and mental fatigue. I'm the kind of person whose mind races 100 mph but I'm constantly bored. Alcohol was a great picker upper for me but ultimately lets me down when it wears off. Now that I'm sober for about a month I'm really tired, lack motivation, and am having sleep issues. I figure this will work itself out in time as I didn't eat or sleep normally for a long time.
Avatar f tn It knocks out cravings for alcohol and narcotics. It worked good for me with the narcotics. If you would drink on it you would not get sick but you would not get the effects of the alcohol. The down fall to it is if you don't have ins it is $1,000 a month for the shot where I live anyways. The pills are a lot cheaper. I don't know if you would be interested in it but just wanted to pass on the info to you.
Avatar m tn Your strategy may work for a little while, but from my experience, weening off is harder than quitting cold turkey. You may make it a few days or weeks, but if you keep drinking, you're gonna convince yourself of something later that isn't in your plans right now. Sorry for not really answering your question, but often times manning up, seeing a doctor and going cold turkey is what it takes.
Avatar f tn I used Gaba (available at GNC) for the head trip that went with it. Immodium for the stomach issues. DO NOT try to take anything pharmaceutical for the no sleep issue as I found that you weren't going to sleep regardless so taking that stuff made me feel worse. I listened to music in my earbuds and just went through it. You have to make the decision that your done. We don't die from w/d but we feel like we are.
