Just because any drug is available over-the-counter, doesn't mean they do not have side effects. And just because side effects are listed doesn't mean you are getting all the information on a drug. Vytorin is derived synthetically from a separate co-marketing agreement with merck and schering, etc. Anything sythetically made (including any over-the-counter medications) involve a risk.

Many medical professional are not very adept at preparing patients for the side effects and/or intervening before they worsen. I realize it is a 50-50 kind of thing and the patient should learn as much as possible beforehand - though as you pointed out, it is a tremendous body of knowledge and rather overwhelming for a layman (which is what I consider myself).

How are you? Medication side effects may or may not occur to patients. You were given pain medication, anti-inflammatory, antihistamine and antipsychotic/tranqulizer. You may experience gastrointestinal symptoms like nausea, vomiting and sedative effects. However, it is important that any sign of allergic reaction such as difficulty of breathing, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. twitching or tremor will warrant immediate attention. sorry to hear your hubby is having a hard time. sounds like he is having some of the common side effects. There is nothing that can boost platlets but many docs let them go really low before lowering or stopping the meds. Try and get back on the full strength of interferon ASAP!
Probably the most common side effect is the itching. I have it as well and it is horrible. I have found some relief with a prescription med called Atarax.
Are there any known side effects for Shen Calmer and Liver Happy Capsules? My dog has been taking them for about a week now. He is taking them for anxiety, no signs of relief yet, but no prescriptions have helped him so this is our last resort. My wife in the 2nd week of her 6th chemo session of carboplatin, paclitaxel and avastin. Most of the side effects are predictable and have been increasing in severity over the sessions. For the last few days she has been subject to very painful occasions of bloating and severe intestinal gas pain. Don't find these in any of the listings of side effects other than "abdominal pain".
Anyone know if this is a common side effect and what can be done about it.

I was given vioxx years ago, read the warnings about heart attacks and such, and threw them all in the trash! Not much later it was pulled from the market. If I lost a loved one, $$ isn't going to bring the back anyway, it's all stupid. If I do myself in, I guess I will come back and haunt the manufacturers....BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO...........
Has anyone else taking Fluoxetine (similar to Prozac) experienced side effects? I have noticed some odd changes in the way my body responds to exercise; specifically, excessive sweating. I'm not sure if the medication is directly linked, but in the past year (I have been taking the drug for about 2.5 years) I break into an all over the body sweat very easily, and it has happened even when I'm not exercising.
