Avatar f tn I was on Efexor for over 8 years. You don't act spacey or lost on it. It is more the valium based anti-depressants that will cause that kind of behaviour. Especially if the person is taking more than they should. If you are worried about taking it, don't be. if you know someone on it and they are acting that way, you need to have a serious discussion with them.
Avatar m tn I have an addiction to coke (2 liter) plus a day. I take venlafaxine and Ambien for the PTSD. I went to the Dr about having no libido, getting and keeping an erection, and not being able to ejaculate. He has since prescribed me Viagra. Two nights ago, as well as tonight, I had amazing sex. Im able to get and maintain an erection! However, I still was not able to ejaculate.
Avatar f tn t had any obvious side effects so I have stayed on it in hopes that I will find an addition drug/supplement that may work with the venlafaxine to reduce my fatigue and other POTS symptoms. I want to warn you, though, that getting on venlafaxine is not too hard, but getting off of it is very difficult. I was on it years ago for depression and the withdrawal symptoms took me about a month to get through.

This avoids the worst of the withdrawal and also allows the patient to see if depression is coming back or not as they reduce dosage. Personally I would risk 75mg/day reduction while above 150mg/day, but stick to 37.5mg/day reduction for each step down from 150mg/day. When it comes to antidepressants, always get doctor advice before implementing a reduction program.
Avatar m tn Can you take Melatonin and Nyquil with Venlafaxine ER and Lorazepam, or would that be a big mistake? I need sleep desparately!!!!
Avatar n tn Best surgeons are everywhere particularly in Britain, but maybe you asked the wrong specialty.. anyway please find out many information about PTSD on the web and pay attention on that in may be due sometime to a relatively low grade trauma exactly like a schedueled surgery, thats because it is "individual dependant", depending on the patient's threshold and resistance.
Avatar m tn I have also started with severe tiredness and confusion since I have been prescribed with with 150 mg of venlafaxine. I am struggling to cope with household and work functions and feel my brain is not able to concentrate I also feel detached. I have been dizzy and had severe bod tremors. Feel zombie like. Could the medication be causing this or making my existing condition worse.
469210 tn?1219188128 In rare cases, high levels of serotonin in the brain may cause severe complications like seizures, stroke, and even death. If venlafaxine and tramadol are used together, your doctor may want to closely monitor you for side effects. Ask your healthcare provider about these drugs and this potential interaction as soon as possible. This interaction is poorly documented and is considered major in severity. Avatar f tn excessive worrying that is difficult to control), social anxiety disorder (extreme fear of interacting with others or performing in front of others that interferes with normal life), and panic disorder (sudden, unexpected attacks of extreme fear and worry about these attacks). Venlafaxine is in a class of medications called selective serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs).
Avatar n tn NO its not safe
1110049 tn?1409402144 She tells me that the lowest dose of XL is 75mg. She has put me on 37.5mg daily Venlafaxine. I tried this as 150mg dose, and it was not the same at all as Effexor. Is there any alternative. I know Venlafaxine, is supposed to be the same as Effexor, but I don't think it is - at least my body said it was different!! I am now wondering what the next step is for me. What is the difference between Effexor XL and Venlafaxine. How do I reduce from 37.5mg Venlafaxine?
Avatar f tn I have been taking Remeron since 2009, I do have 5 mental health diagnoses which are, Borderline Personality Disorder. PTSD, Depression, Anxiety and OCD. I have not found that the Remeron causes me to eat more and my diabetes is under control, my blood sugars are staying at a normal level. My psychiatrist just increased the Effexor yesterday, and I am really hoping this helps, and yes, my psychiatrist told me about the withdrawals of stopping Effexor.
Avatar m tn In general, the newer antidepressants (SSRI and SNRI) do not prolong QT interval so much. A possible exception is citalopram (and escitalopram). As far as I know, paroxetine and vortioxetine are fairly safe. How long is your QT interval?
Avatar f tn So I'm currently taking 75mg venlafaxine and 15mg mirtazapine the mirtazapine is great doing its job for the night time anxiety it's more than enough to calm me and help me sleep the night but my concern is the venlafaxine it's causing me stomach upset and feelings of low mood iv been taking this combo since beginning of December whilst some what it has levelled me out to the state I was currently in I don't feel as tho the venlafaxine is helping anymore as Iv been on it before a
Avatar n tn ) so lets say your doc prescribed you 150Mgs of Venlafaxine a day. Then you could break that tab in half and take one in morning and one around 4:00pm. Thus effectivly keeping a steady stream of the medication in your body. I just say Effexor XR is better because it does that for you and you need not worry about it. You also need to check if Generic Effexor XR is avalible in your area of the world.
Avatar m tn I think kaylee2850 gave some good advice but I see it a little different. I don't believe you can compare cases of PTSD. The one constant is the effects, such as anxiety, anger, depression, etc. What may be traumatic to one person might not be all that traumatic to another. The cause of PTSD is what is different and it can be any event that one takes as traumatic. For instance, I've been diagnosed with PTSD and a sudden loud noise really gets to me.
1910757 tn?1348683319 t really stopped and my psychiatrist told me it might not go away, and that she wanted to change me to Venlafaxine. Honestly, my first reaction was OH NO, NOT AGAIN. Not another new medication. She told me diarrhea is keeping me from gaining weight and might damage my colon if it goes on. Now, I didn't think it was such a big deal and I was considering to just keep taking Sertraline until the diarrhea was gone, but this week I started having stomach pain.
1270834 tn?1270769758 I have been taking Venlafaxine for about one year, and never noticed these balls. Today though, after 3 days with diarrhea, and while waiting for the labs my doctor request; I noticed these little white balls on my stool, and I panicked. It was a relief to find Joya325's posting, I was going crazy, because I've been looking online, and it does not look like any known human parasite egg could be seen with the naked eye.
233002 tn?1316027966 I was prescribed venlafaxine recently and it was a nightmare. I was wondering if anyone else has had any experiences with it and other medicines used to combat the depression that seems to come and go with this disease.
Avatar f tn I stopped taking Venlafaxine almost 1 year ago. My Pharmacist helped me with the "weaning" process, so things were okay for a while. Now here I am, a year later, and I actually feel WORSE than I did back then. The clinic I go to has rotating doctors (I do not have insurance regardless of "the affordable care act"), so it is difficult to relate to a physician every 3-4 months.
Avatar f tn I have been taking 37 twice a day venlafaxine for a year now and initially felt great however 4 months ago I have been slowly feeling the same as I did before I started taking venlafaxine. I have frequent dizzy spells and get upset every day do I need to increase my dose?
Avatar n tn i am on 450 mgs venlafaxine, 150mg quatipine at night and have prn 3x .25 quatipine during the day. venlafaxine isn't working anymore. I have been given 2 options.. option 1. taper very slowly over a very long period of time and take other meds to stablize me, option 2. go back to the psych ward and under supervision come off venlafaxine which then is going to be replaced by another anti dep.
Avatar m tn Try to keep yourself and your mind occupied and going about your normal daily activities and a little at a time you will find yourself getting back to normal. Take care.
