Tooth extraction with infection

Common Questions and Answers about Tooth extraction with infection

Avatar n tn And was told the fractured tooth could be crowned but the adjacent molar showed signs of root infection, I had a root canal and crown done on the infected tooth about two years ago. My dentist is telling me that it will have to be extracted. Is there any alternative to extraction such as antibiotics?
Avatar n tn This extraction was by far the worst experience with an extraction I have ever had, including complicated wisdom tooth removal. I'm sure the infection didn't help things at all. Thank you so kindly for your suggestion.
Avatar n tn Upper left molar #14 was extracted 8 months ago. Prior extraction was experiencing ache on left side of face especially cheek bone & around eye, slightly swollen. Asked for antibotics, he told me what I was experiencing had nothing to do with the tooth & seek medical doctor. Tooth did not come out in one piece. Ten days later went back to dentist as sharp piece of bone sticking out of extraction site. Dentist removed, said it was not uncommon & that everything looked fine.
Avatar m tn Brought the child tooth extraction, the doctor gave the former patients after tooth extraction, tooth extraction in gloves again give me children, in the process of tooth extraction, before a patient came to the front of the doctor, for some money to the doctor's hands, the doctor took the money into the pocket, but there is no change gloves again, but with the took the money hand continue to give the child tooth extraction, in the process of tooth extraction, the hand bleeding was forced to
Avatar n tn Elimination of the infection can be achieved through, redo root canal, periapical surgery with retrograde filling, root amputation(multirooted tooth), or extraction with thorough curettage of socket.Seeing an endodontist is advised.
Avatar f tn I had 2 wisdom tooth taken out with a simple extraction just numbing of the area and pulling it out. The top tooths blood clot is visible and looks like it's good the bottom tooth I can't see the blood clot on it all I can see is a yellowish film.
Avatar f tn Hello, I would like to kindly request if it is safe to do another root canal procedure for new tooth after a surgical extraction which is infected & in the process of healing Already there is sever pain on this extracted tooth area & the other tooth procedure is it safe to do or do I have to wait until it heals.Thank you for the advice.
Avatar n tn pain or difficulty with the extraction. So what I am saying is go to an oral surgeon and get it extracted asap.
Avatar m tn The areas in front of the wisdom tooth should not be bleeding due to the extraction. The bleeding gums would indicate gingivitis or periodontal disease. Are you sure that it may not be just blood coming from the extraction socket? Perhaps flossing between where #17 and #18 meet can be the source of the problem. Its probably not an infection from the wisdom tooth but gingivitis or periodontal disease is essentially a low grade infection that should be treated with a cleaning.
Avatar f tn They say on divalproex you need to be careful brushing and flossing because you can be more prone to infection.
Avatar n tn Last Tuesday i had tooth # 2 removed ( Upper ) and next day i came down with a major Migraine and few days later my body started to hurt and nose got congested , i went to the Dr. who said this was a sinus infection. I searched online and did not find anything suggesting a sinus infection can be caused by a tooth extraction. I read Sinus Infection on Mayo Clinic 's website and it describe more serious immune system problems can cause it , now i am really freaking out.
Avatar m tn Unfortunately the sinus infection continued after the extraction and to make matters worse the tooth next to the extracted tooth is now giving me pain. X-rays of this tooth (last tooth before the wisdom) now show possible degradation in one of its roots. My questions are: Should I try another antibiotic to battle the sinusitis (eg Amoxycillin/Clavulanate 875/125mg) ? Could the sinus infection be causing a problem in the root of a perfectly good tooth? Will a CT scan help?
Avatar n tn At the time of extraction, the tooth had pushed the infection down into my jawe bone. The pain has gotten worse eversay sice extraction. I went back to the dentist thinking he could give me a prescription for anitbiotics and he treated it as dry socket. He put some medication down in the hole, which only numbed my mouth and not down into the jaw where it hurts and is swollen. The medication he put in said would only take a few minutes to take effect and after 2 hours it fell out.
Avatar m tn t understand as I was having this pain prior to the extraction, but nobody will answer why I would have the same pain before AND after the extraction. I had to see an emergency dentist at the weekend to have the tooth redressed, she told me in was very inflammed and infected. I saw a dentist 3 days later and she said there is no sign of infection.
Avatar m tn Did it swell up again? Usually with the extraction of the infected tooth, the swelling and lump will go down. It may be just bone that's healed in the area and its changed shape. If it due to swelling from the area more recently (bone doesn't grow in days but over a month), it may be an infection from another source.
Avatar f tn If the infection is dental origin and tooth is restorable, extraction may not be indicated.Seeing an endodontist is advised.
Avatar n tn Well it only got worse to the point I could barely function so rang back and got emergency appointment, I had the dreaded injection with local anaesthetic and she began to drill the bad tooth and I nearly screamed with the pain! Even with the anaesthetic, so had to stop and she gave me metronidazole to do me 5 days, the thing is my appointment for either root canal or extraction isn't until Friday and the antibiotics finish today.
Avatar m tn They were removed, A month after removal of roots I developed a painful, bleeding sore on the gumline just about an inch back from the extraction site . My dentist said it is an infection, gave me penicillan .Is it possible I have a chronic bone infection from the original extraction?
Avatar m tn It can happen during tooth extraction that a piece of bone comes along with the sinus in cases when the tooth is close to the bone because of infection. There can be perforation also. There can be fistulas also sometimes. Treatment involves use of antibiotics, sinus washings to cleanse the sinus from infection and other specific management depending on the situation. A dental examination is absolutely necessary. If you are not satisfied with your dentist’s opinion seek another opinion.
Avatar f tn t control the infection and extraction is not desirable, what do you do if you have a significant tooth issue. Does this become an issue of chronic antibiotic use to control? How high risk is an extraction if nothing else seems to work? Would surgical removal be better than an extraction? How about laser dentistry as a less invasive modality? Any info would be appreciated. I'll see my oncologist next week for my routine appointment and we'll be talking about this of course.
Avatar n tn and does it hurt when it is extracted and whats the side effects of extraction ..waiting desperately for ur reply thanx..and my effected tooth is in the lower right second last tooth..
Avatar n tn I had a root canal on #14 due to a dead nerve. No infection was found. The endodontist drilled thru a crown that was on the tooth. One week later the left side of my face started swelling, my eye reddened and was tearing. I was put on Clindomyacin for an infection----that was now seen on the x ray. The antibiotic worked great, swelling & pain went away. Now that I am off the antibiotic---the pain is returning, left maxillary, eye pain & head aches---no swelling at this time.
Avatar n tn My tooth is growing in pain with each day. Last year I had the same pain in the same tooth. Since I was in a foreign country when the pain started I asked the dentist to first try a passive approach. He perscribed antibiotics. That same night I was in terrible pain. The next day I went to the dentist and he was delighted. There was an infection in the bone, which came to the surface. For one year the tooth was fine. Now, I feel the pain again.
Avatar f tn My mother has a painful tooth infection; the side of her face is swollen. She doesn't have insurance and currently can't afford medical assistance. She has been aiding herself using remedies such as garlic for cleansing, I believe, and to potentially get rid of it, hopefully. Is there anything else she could do to cure this tooth infection?
Avatar m tn I had my lower left last molar removed due to infection about 4 weeks ago. The tooth next to that is hurting extremly bad when I touch it, and my jaw is very sore under my tongue. My lymph node on that side is also in pain and can be felt to the touch. I know that I need to go back for the other tooth, which had a root canal but no crown, a year ago, but why am I not healing from the first extraction?
