Avatar m tn The lower left wisdom tooth is clearly impacted and should be the next tooth to come out; however for the upper two wisdom teeth combined with the already extracted 1st molar would there be a possibility of creating too much empty space to fill through brace-work? 3. Avatar m tn The numbing has actually gotten worse, this time taking over the right side of the chin also, but not nearly as severe. Went to my oral Sergent February 9th and the bottom wisdom tooth extraction site was very inflamed and was not healing normally. Now this is also the same area that had an infection that he discovered only when he finally pulled the tooth. He had to reopen it again and physically pull out the bad tissue.
Avatar f tn Is it possible for wisdom teeth to cause that much pain? Also, is it normal for an oral surgeon to extract a wisdom tooth while infected without antibiotic treatment first? What are the complications and/or possibilities of this?
Avatar m tn If it does start causing problems, it could damage the roots of the teeth in front of them, resulting in damage and possible removal of both the wisdom tooth and the tooth in front of it. It just depends on how the infection occurs and where it spreads. Bone shards can hurt but can also be easily fixed by removing them. They also can fall out on their own if you're patient enough.

Avatar f tn Only in extreme cases will a dentist recommended a tooth extraction. The tooth is completely removed if the cavity is very bad and the tooth can't be saved. Root Canal When the tooth is severely damaged by the cavity, a root canal removes the pulp and nerve and seals the tooth. This completely prevents any further decay.
Avatar f tn To remove the wisdom tooth, your dentist will open up the gum tissue over the tooth and take out any bone that is covering the tooth. He will separate the tissue connecting the tooth to the bone and then remove the tooth. Sometimes the dentist will cut the tooth into smaller pieces to make it easier to remove.

Avatar m tn It was the right upper wisdom tooth. In the same day after my wisdom tooth extraction, I developed nasal congestion in the right nostril. From that day till now, the nasal congestion has been present everyday and it alternates between nostrils from time to time. I've visited the ENT twice. The first time, the doctor did a nose scope and confirmed that my nose was congested. She then prescribed me Nasonex nasal spray to be used for 6 weeks (2 puffs in each nostril, once a day).

Avatar m tn I had my wisdom tooth(2) removed 6 days ago. my lower left lip and a few teeth are still feeling numb currently. is this numbness going to be temporary or permanent?
Avatar f tn if the problem is a wisdom tooth pull it. if you are using wisdom teeth as an example of never having a tooth pulled and another tooth is the problem get the root canal. root canals sound scary but they cause minimal pain and its better for the overall health of your mouth to keep teeth if possible. good luck!
Avatar n tn Hi, I order to reduce the pain after wisdom tooth extraction surgery it is generally advised to bite on the gauze pad periodically. The pad should be removed as soon as it gets soaked in blood. You can also try applying warm moist compresses on the cheek, apply ice packs, and gently rinse your mouth with warm salt water. This will help in reducing the swelling and pain. The possibility of dry socket also needs to be looked into by your dentist.
