Tooth extraction healing time

Common Questions and Answers about Tooth extraction healing time

teeth

Avatar f tn If the extraction was difficult, then it may require more time for healing. The only other possibility is that when its a difficult extraction, small pieces of bone which break during the extraction can push their way out and result in some sensitivity in the area, especially if you push on it.
Avatar f tn Hello, I would like to kindly request if it is safe to do another root canal procedure for new tooth after a surgical extraction which is infected & in the process of healing Already there is sever pain on this extracted tooth area & the other tooth procedure is it safe to do or do I have to wait until it heals.Thank you for the advice.
Avatar n tn I am managing the pain with Advil 800 mg every 4 hours. I have Multifple sclerosis and am a slow healer with a great risk of infection. Small infection when the tooth was pulled, but the dentist said it looked good and no infection. My antibiotics have ended on Wednesday. Please tell me any tips to heal sooner.
Avatar n tn How many days after the extraction,if everything is healing properly do you not have to worry about getting a dry socket?
Avatar n tn if it can be moved, it is most likely a bone spicule or small sliver of tooth that may have chipped off during the extraction. It should be pushed up and out during the healing process. If you think it's intact bone poking through, see the dentist who did the extraction.
Avatar f tn I have hypercementosis(mis spell) and had an extraction of number 4 tooth 6 weeks ago. I'm experience a lot of pain and the only thing that helps is my finger in place of the missing tooth. I've had two course of antibotics. The area has been checked twice and they thought I might need a root canal in tooth number 5. Specialist checked with no reaction to hot, cold and pressure so she prescribed oral rinse. I looked and the area is white but doctor said that it's healing.
Avatar f tn Hello, I had a tooth extraction this morning and the dentist packed it right after and said it was there to help prevent infection in my sinus cavity, But I keep reading it can cause infection . I have had many teeth pulled and healed really well so this worries me. If it's not removed for a week won't it slowly my healing process??
Avatar f tn Its probably not pain from the movement of the teeth. It may be sensitive due to the trauma of the area and possibly to the tooth next to it during the extraction. Unfortunately with dry socket, there's no way to improve the healing time of it. Packing the socket and allowing it to heal on its own is the only option. Are you on pain meds as well?
Avatar f tn Hi I had an extraction done wisdom tooth. I cannot open my mouth to capacity since then. Its hard to even bite a sandwich. Like a month now. I waited because i thoight it was jus healing but can u help plz. Will my mouth remain this way.
1809287 tn?1316744936 about a week ago i had a tooth extraction done on my very back molar on my lower right side. the extraction went pretty well, although quite uncomfortable. afterwards, i felt somewhat okay, but about two to three days after i started to feel this uncomfortable pain in my lower jaw bone. the pain is felt in my jaw, my throat, my temple, my neck and my ear. i am having constant headaches.
Avatar n tn s just still healing. However for a regular tooth extraction i highly doubt they will give you anyththing stronger. try sensodyne. anything numbing. Don't chew on that side.
Avatar n tn You may experience a lot of pain following your tooth extraction for a few days. Lortab should help control that pain better than plain acetaminophen (tylenol). Avoid alcohol and additional doses of acetaminophen. Obviously you should not drive or work with possibly dangerous equipment. I would think twice about running after a tooth extraction, especially a marathon. Discuss this with your dentist.
Avatar m tn My dentist said one of my back tooth was a bit weak and that they will need to check it up every 6 months. Well it hurts every once in awhile, but I can't have it checked because I have camp. The inner tooth hurts. I did have my wisdom teeth taken out about 2 and a half weeks ago, could that be the problem? I don't remember MAYBE my tooth hurt even before the wisdom teeth extraction.
Avatar n tn I think it was quite a traumatic extraction, as the tooth had split in half, so he had to go in and yank the other half out with some other implement. I will continue my good work, and hopefully things will be fine. Thanks for your swift reply!
Avatar m tn He said he was negative. Thing is I had a tooth extraction about a week ago and I was wondering would that be a risk for exposure to hiv? I read oral is low to no risk but im a little worried since the tooth extraction. He didn't ejaculate in my mouth but I'm still wondering.. The area in my mouth is still healing since the extraction happened last week so i was wondering if he did have hiv could any of the fluids get into that area and cause exposure?
Avatar m tn I know that I need to go back for the other tooth, which had a root canal but no crown, a year ago, but why am I not healing from the first extraction?
Avatar m tn One of my wisdom tooth was pulled out on Tuesday, I felt an ache in the area which I believed was the normal healing process. After researching I am little concern about the side of extraction. The gums in front of the extraction (teeth 18,19, 20) are bleeding when I floss, and when I put pressure on them with my finger. There is also a slight pain as well. Is this normal? Or is this an infection of some sort?
19028025 tn?1473902866 I had a tooth extraction on Monday morning and it was a painless process. It bled for about two hours, then stopped. I assume a clot formed. I have been on a light diet of mashed potatoes, pudding, and apple sauce since. I have not used a straw nor have I spit. I have had some excess saliva, so I have had to swallow often. It does feel a lot like sucking through a straw, I suppose. I do not smoke, etc.
Avatar n tn The guy looked healthy and well you cant tell anyone who has aids, but I am now worried sick that some of the semen may have gone into my tooth area that is still healing, although there is definitely no blood but it is still healing. I am going to worry myself sick over this and can't believe I done such a stupid thing.
Avatar n tn At the time of extraction, the tooth had pushed the infection down into my jawe bone. The pain has gotten worse eversay sice extraction. I went back to the dentist thinking he could give me a prescription for anitbiotics and he treated it as dry socket. He put some medication down in the hole, which only numbed my mouth and not down into the jaw where it hurts and is swollen. The medication he put in said would only take a few minutes to take effect and after 2 hours it fell out.
784382 tn?1376931040 i had a tooth extracted about 2 weeks ago.... the healing seems to be fine ,but there is a piece of my jaw that is sticking out, it hurts to touch, and almost seems like its trying to break throuhg my gums, it seems to be a sharp piece....is this normal??.....i keep reading the stories about them leaving a peice of tooth in there....or something..... maybe it need to be shaved down??.... i go back to the dentist tomorrow to get another extraction im going to ask about it then as well....
Avatar n tn I recently had a wisdom tooth removed (tooth #1) because of decay. The tooth was errupted and the removal was done in the dentist's office with novicaine and had no complications. After receiveing the bill, I realized that the dentist had charge for the extraction as well as an alveoplasty.
Avatar f tn i had jaw tooth extracted 4 days ago,i'm in miserable pain, why isn't healing?
Avatar n tn With kids teeth, usually its a pretty quick recovery but if its an adult tooth, the healing time may take longer. Assuming its a baby tooth, he should bounce back pretty quickly and shouldn't be a problem on the flight.
Avatar f tn However, my cheek (on my jawline) is still swollen and puffy (not hard, just puffy), as are the gums around the extraction site and the tooth adjacent to the extraction site. When I brush around the wound, the wound itself does not bleed, but the gums beside it do bleed (minimally) and I'm scared. I had my tooth pulled at a dental school and because the tooth was "hooked", it took 2 students and 1 OS resident over 2 hours to get the tooth out.
Avatar f tn After putting up with horrible tooth pain for a week and a half, mine got so bad I had to have an "emergency" extraction (mouth was swollen to about the size of a baseball). As soon as they took the bad tooth out, the pain started getting better right away. I would actually see if they can move your appointment for extraction up sooner; this sounds serious, and you don't want to mess around with a bad tooth infection. It's really not as bad as I thought it would be.
