Avatar n tn If it is persistent there could be other causes like enlarged tonsils and GERD. Gastro esophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) is caused due to reflux of acid from the stomach into the esophagus. It can also happen due to iron deficiency anemia causing Plummer-Vinson syndrome, where there changes to the soft lining of the throat.

Avatar n tn Hi, the common causes for difficulty in swallowing are enlarged tonsils and GERD. Gastro esophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) is caused due to reflux of acid from the stomach into the esophagus. It could also be due to disorders of the esophagus. You will need to consult your primary care physician who will examine your throat and may ask for some tests like barium swallow or endoscopy to determine the cause for difficulty in swallowing. Regards.

Avatar n tn Is it possible for a hiatial hernia to cause problems with my throat and voice. My symptoms are loss of voice when I talk for a little while---I can no longer sing---I can't get any range at all----my voice has grown so low that when I answer the phone people think its my husband answering. Avatar n tn Last week I had to get a steroid shot due to the back up behind my ears draining into my throat and making the heartburn so much worse. I have read that there IS a connection. I definitely believe it. This discussion is related to GERD Help.
Avatar f tn Can GERD cause your throat to itch and sometimes i feel a knot in my throat?
Avatar f tn I bring up mucous the rest of the day when i eat or drink which is causing throat spasms and a constant sore throat. I have recently started to experience breathing problems, which actually feels as if i am suffocating. I am so frustrated with my doctor because i am not getting any better . I have lost nearly 3 stone in weight, im now 7 stone and my doc does not seem to understand how serious things are becoming. Can anyone help with some useful hints.
Avatar m tn Now I saw some things about GERD and think I might have it. I can sometimes have a feeling in my throat like I would have a cold and am also often nauseous in the morning when waking up but do have hunger. My stomach also growls a lot when I lay down. Now I still often have the weird feeling.
Avatar f tn I want to go to make more investigations, but I need to know towards what direction to go to - may it be gerd, or heartproblems or may it be some thyroid problems (in a recent RMI for my neck, doctors told me there are 2 very small noduls and I should make some test for thyroid - can this be a cause?). I do not want to make tens of investigation on teh wrong direction Thank you for your time.
Avatar f tn The cause of his phrenic nerve paralysis is also another component to understand. Cough can emanate from nasal/sinus problems, gerd, vocal cord issues, as well as pulmonary issues. Infectious problems and tumors are always something to consider. Swallowing difficulty from esophageal problems or diverticula formation alco could be contributing to his problems. Once evaluated, the need for further testing such as a radiological exam of the neck or sinuses can be determined and ordered.
Avatar m tn I also saw my dr for this problem and she seems to this is related to gerd as well as the lump in the throat. I almost never have heartburn and did not think these types of problems could be related to gerd. This is very worrisome and was wondering if anyone else with gerd has experienced any of these things. Thank you!
Avatar f tn I have to strain to breath. It feels like I have to yawn to catch my full breath sometimes. Also, It feels like my throat is closed up and when i eat it it feels like its getting stuck in my throat and I cant breathe. I went to the doctors and they sent me to get an x-ray, ekg, and blood taken. Now they are sending me tuesday to get an ecocardiograma. All of my test so far have came back fine. They said it might be anxiety/stress related. What do you think this could be?
Avatar f tn Pasta, especially with tomato sauce and lemonade sound like a GERD problem, especially in excess. Also, a sore throat often accompanies problems with GERD. Left Arm pain is a heart attack/angina symtom, as is breathlessness, but generally it occurs under stress/exercise conditions. I'm also curious about the chest inflammation medication, and what the drug would be. Is it Nitroquick, or Ranexa, or another drug to control angina?
Avatar f tn Hi many times we r nt aware we have GERD or reflux, there is a condition known as Silent reflux or Laryngopharyngeal Reflux.
Avatar n tn I have been having throat problems for a few months. I have had an EGDP, Upper Gi Series, and modified barium swallow and continue to feel like there's something stuck in my throat. I was told I have a heinal hernia. What other tests can I take to get help and be healed?
Avatar f tn The ENT Doctor said that if I keep having problems to go and see a Gastroenterologost as it may be acid reflex causing my throat problems. However, I am taking the GERD medication and now this is happening. Because of the soreness on one side of my throat and the blood I am starting to think it may be something else. I also have a bit of soreness in my ear (the same side of my throat that hurts) My doctor is reluctant to send me back to the ENT but I think I should go.
974371 tn?1424653129 Now, I am very bloated, nauseated and have some stomach pain, drier mouth and throat and thick phlgym. I feel nauseated in my throat, if that makes sense. I am afraid the bacterial problem isn't cleared up or is this the probiotic causing this? I have also been having problems with a very burning pain on the right side of my back, which I think is from a nerve. Aside from the chronic mouth and thriat problems, my stomach and bowels are the major problems.
799695 tn?1257579598 Has anyone ever had throat muscle contractions which pressed on the gag reflex and made you throw up? I've had swallowing problems before, but now it seems like my throat muscles are becoming spastic and just contracting and making me throw up. I also just got over the swine flu a few weeks ago and have heard that illness like the flu can bring about a relapse. I know i'm not sick from the flu, because I can clearly feel my muscles tightening in my throat. Is this common?
Avatar n tn As there is a problem with the cardiac sphincter, this can cause a reflux of acid leading to GERD (Gastro Esophageal Reflux Disease). This could be causing the sensation in the throat. Fatty liver can be due to alcoholism when it is called Alcoholic fatty liver disease and the other one is Non alcoholic fatty liver disease, which is due to obesity, diabetes and high triglyceride levels. This can progress to cirrhosis of the liver and can be associated with hepatocellular carcinoma.
Avatar n tn Pylori, or gallbladder problems. Difficulty breathing and sore throat are both signs of LPRD, which is GERD, except when the acid goes all the way up to the upper part of your throat. Whatever it is, know that you can probably do something about it, and if you stay on it you can probably beat it. Good luck.
