Avatar m tn After a bout of Strep and mono (though I will add that the sore throat was NOT severe in either cases oddly enough, I was swallowing fine and with relatively no pain, just slight irritation), I had noticed my throat seemed very "beat up" per se. Here is a current image of my mouth: http://i27.tinypic.com/2r5wyac.jpg Notice the seemingly cluster of bumps on the back wall, and overall "redness?" It's weird to me since I have absolutely NO pain, discomfort, or anything.
Avatar m tn I have had a sore throat on the left side only for about 3 months. Went to my family physician and tested for the usual problems. All came back negative. Went to a specialist, gave me some muscle relaxers and tested my swallowing. Nothing, the soreness persists. Any ideas for what to test for next?
Avatar n tn She then put a mask over my nose and mouth. I woke up with the worst sore throat of my life. My throat was blood red and it hurt to talk, cough, breath and swallow. I've had strep throat many times and the pain was nothing like that. I gargled with warm salt water, took throat lozenges, etc. and nothing helped. Woke up the next morning and my sore throat was completely gone but could barely talk and my my jaw was sore and bruised. I still have severe larangitis four days later.

Avatar n tn For the last two or three months I have had to eat very, very small bites, wait between bites, and still sometimes it seems to back up in my throat. Swallowing liquids seems to be the worst. After eating I have thick saliva on my tongue, and this stuff in my throat caused my mouth to produce excess saliva so I swallow and swallow (kind of like when you are going to vomit). Once or twice a day now this saliva comes back up.

Panda I have a sore throat. It's very uncomfortable for me to swallow. I'm not coughing, yet. Nose is running a little. I touch my neck and it's a little sore. I feel my glands might be a little swollen. I've been taking Alka Seltzer Plus cold medicine. I've gargled with warm salt and water as well. Is there something else you could recommend or should I go to the doctors?
Avatar n tn A couple months ago I noticed pain when swallowing on the right side of my throat. I took a flashlight and saw that my right tonsil was inflamed and covered with white specks. I went to my general physician...she ruled out strep throat. She gave me a 10-day antibiotic...she wasn't quite sure what the problem was. I went through the antibiotic and saw no improvement. That was about a month ago. Recently, it looks as if the left tonsil is also becoming inflamed/swollen.
Avatar m tn Gonorrhea can cause sore throat but most cases are asymptomatic and you have another probable diagnosis (strep throat). It is unlikely you had gonorrhea, but if you did the Zpak will clear it.
Avatar n tn hi, i have a question for you i sometimes have problems swallowing food. I would have this feeling as if the food is stuck in my throat and it would start to make me cough and gag as if i were choking. I don't know what could be wrong. On my right side of my neck it feels like there is a little lump but i been having that for a few years. Do you think that small lump on my right side of the neck could be causing me to have difficultly swallowing.

Avatar m tn Been having problems with my throat for the last year. Began after an upper airway infection last spring. Constantly sore throat, lost of burning. Started to have pain while singing, and swallowing. Tried antibiotics and allergy medicin with little or no help. Now after a year my tounge shows atrophy and fasicuisations. Been to ENT´s, neuros, gastro, all tests comes back normal. The doctors susspected ALS, but it seems pretty sure to be ruled out.
Avatar n tn There are other causes of dysphagia in addition to those of the mouth. Inflammation of the thyroid gland can present with a sore throat and dysphagia. The symptoms of acid reflux and dysphagia may indicate that you have inflammation of the esophagus with an alteration of normal motor function of this organ. Frequently, this problem will resolve with treatment of the reflux (the Prilosec medication that you take).
Avatar m tn i have this lump that i can feel in my throat, feels like something is stuck in my left side of throat and its difficult swallowing. I looked at my throat in the mirror and looks kinda like strep throat, redness and looks swollen, but im concerned about the lump i feel . I have no insurance and just wondered what it could be, any help in this matter would be very appreciative.
Avatar m tn I finally went to another and after doing procedure she said I had acid reflux and gave me the list to do, such as elevating pillow area, no clearing throat, no eating 3 hours before bed, etc. She put me on nexium twice a day. I still have a swallowing problem, sore throat changing to clearing throat. I have no heartburn and never have had. I am now in a period of throat clearing every couple of minutes. Its very frustrating and I am willing to try anything if anyone has a suggestion.
Avatar n tn Hi, like your doctor has suggested your symptoms could be due to a throat infection. Throat infections are most probably streptococcal or a viral infections. Strep sore throat needs to be treated with an antibiotic as strep is a bacteria. Viral sore throat is best treated with rest, warm oral fluids and (OTC) tylenol (acetaminophen) or ibuprofen for pain. Ensure to complete your antibiotic course and do salt water gargles for further relief from your symptoms. Take care. Regards.
Avatar f tn I have had difficulty swallowing for about 7 months now, along with thick, stringy, gelatinous clear mucus in my throat and thick green-brown mucus in my sinuses and throat. My nose is very dry and has dry congestion that is hard to remove by blowing.
