Avatar m tn i have also had some heartburn, so i wonder if these could be the symptoms of gerd. i am seeing an ent, he checked my throat and didn't see any growths and is going to have an mri done on me. in the meantime i am quite frightened, especially of throat cancer, has anyone had the same symptoms? i am beside myself with fear.
Avatar n tn I have a lump in my throat and have been to multiple doctors in the past 6 months. I have been to my primary physician (internal medicine specialist), the ER, and to an ENT twice. The ENT diagnosed me with GERD and put me on prilosec, which has controlled my heartburn, but the lump is still there. Both times the ENT used a scope and felt the lump, but said it is not my thyroid, just irritation from the reflux.
Avatar f tn Now with the heartburn, chest pain, and right abdominal pain, I am really worried. I didn't know until recently that long-term GERD could cause Barrett's Esophagus/Cancer. I don't really have painful swallowing or anything like that. I don't have trouble swallowing, except sometimes I feel like there are tiny pieces of food at the entrance of my throat, but isn't bothersome. Food doesn't get regurgitated back into my mouth or anything.
Avatar m tn Hi I have had severe Gerd for almost 11 months now. I take Ranitidine 1 tablet in morning and 1 eve I also take Gastrocote when needed. My main problem is acid rising to the throat where I constantly clear my throat particularly at night even though I raise my head. I also get burning to my throat and sour saliva taste which come after meals which is hard to get rid of. I have seen specialist but awaiting results for my ph oesophagus test.
Avatar f tn Hi and welcome to the GERD forum. Have you been to a GI Dr and shared your concern for Barrett's? Any weight change up or down will cause these symptoms to flare....but in time should calm down. Keeping that in mind you still should look at your diet and lifestyle as that can also contribute to these symptoms as well as stress...and or family medical history.... Talk to your Dr...as fear leads to stress and that can continue your symptoms....
183933 tn?1290220562 Hi, I am a 20 year old female and have had gerd for the past few years. I have had 2 upper endoscopys by 2 different doctors. The first was about two years ago, the doctor thought my LES seemed loose. The other was about a year ago, he said he didn't think it seemed loose, but that my stomach did produce more acid than he would like to see. He has me taking 2 prevacid 30miligrams a day. Once in the morning and once at night.
Avatar m tn Thx but the question is could it be a gerd or an oropharyngeal cancer coz I have to wait one week before seeing my doctor
Avatar f tn I went to see an ENT and he did a scope (went in through the nose and looked down at the throat), I had a CT of the throat, and an Ultrasound of my thryroid and a Upper GI Series (Barium Swallow). There was nothing he could see from the scoping, the CT came back negative, the Barium swallow showed mild to moderate acid reflux, and the ultrasound showed nodules (which the doc said was nothing to worry about). All in all everything that was done did not show any type of mass or obstruction.
Avatar f tn But I'm still having GERD symptoms - burning abdomen, stomach tender to the touch when poked, acid reflux, lump in throat, burning up back of throat, excessive belching and gas..I've also had diarrhea since the symptoms started almost a year ago. I'm worrying that it's gastric cancer. Three months ago I had two ct scans of the abdomen. One with just iodine contrast and another with both iodine contrast and barium swallow. Both came back fine. Would gastric cancer show up on the ct scans?
Avatar n tn I would agree with the ENT that your throat symptoms are those of GERD, which is another symptom of hypothyroidism. I had them (and GERD) for years, so I'm very familiar with them.
Avatar m tn Have seen symptoms of medullar thyroid cancer on the internet and now I'm scared. How can I be sure my symptoms are related to the GERD and not cancer? I will be seeing my primary care doctor next week and want to be sure to get the correct tests, referrals, etc.
Avatar n tn Hi Folks, For the last couple of years I have been on 40mg Omeprazole due to GERD. My GERD now seems to be getting worse—(mainly the burning feeling in the back of the throat) and I have added an H2 to the mix and occasionally pop a Gaviscon or something along those lines. Although my symptoms are more of an annoyance at this point, being a hypochondriac I am beginning to worry about Barrett’s or the Big C.
496495 tn?1224613463 Hello I am a 28 year old male and I am concerned about throat cancer. Almost 2 and a half weeks ago I had laid down to take a nap and when I awoke I had weird pain on the left side of my throat when I swallowed. This lasted for about a day and got a lot better but there was still some minor pain every so often when I swallowed. I do have acid reflux and allergies with bad post nasal drip and had a scope about 2 and a half years ago showing some minor irritation around my focal cords.
Avatar f tn About 7 months ago, I was eating a piece of brisket, and when I swallowed it would not go down. I almost had to have someone do the heimlick to get the brisket out of my throat. After continued swallowing with no effect, I tried to drink water with no help the water came up. After what seemed forever and pulling at the brisket with my fingers, I finally swallowed it. There was some bleeding due to trauma of trying to get it out of my throat.
Avatar m tn My father died at the age of 52 years old of "stomach" GERD? cancer. My elder brother died at the age of 52 years old, of stomach GERD? cancer. Currently i am 45 years old, having some heartburn symptoms. My doctor says if some over the counter medicine don`t improve my symptoms, I may need to be cautious and this may lead to a more serious condition as my family past medical history.

Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with GERD about one year ago and had it for maybe a year before that. In this entire time I basically ignored it and drank alot of Milk and took Tums as needed. I now realize the mistake I've made may have caused me Cancer. I'm only 23 years old but have what feels to be a lump inside my throat (have had the lump for maybe 2 years) on my right hand side which is a symptom of Larynx Cancer. Although I have no others especially the main one Hoarseness in the voice.

Avatar m tn Hi and welcome to the GERD forum, Try talking to your Dr these meds can stop working....I was on a PPI and they stopped working for me.....after a talk with my Dr I was switched to a H2 blocker.....so do look into other options as there are a few.
Avatar m tn The Larynx cancer because my chance of it was only multiplied by the untreated GERD and smoking. I do also have a symptom of Larynx Cancer as I feel like I have a lump in the right side of my throat now but it comes and goes, from searching on the net I don't have any of the other symptoms and definetley no change in voice. The Barretts Esophogus because of not treating my GERD for so long.
666921 tn?1254994218 I seem to have developed 'very bad acid reflux' - type symptoms - I am swallowing mucous constantly - feels like somrthing is stuck in my throat - I can feel slight burning acid in my throat - my ears feel blocked and painful - I am doing a lot of belching ! - and there is pain in my breast bone. - do you think it is the 'doxy' causing this {I have had pain/congested feeling in my ears before starting abx.
Avatar m tn The only symptoms I've had so far is chest pains (have heart problems so I always thought it is just the heart issues) and then all these ENT related symptoms of coughing and clearing throat and constant throat infections and voice braking/hoarseness. You need to get an Endoscopy done to see if you have a Hiatal Hernia or a LES dysfunction and what damage the reflux is doing to your esophagus. The ideal would be to get proper treatment before the Barrets sells complication.
Avatar n tn I WOKE UP CHOKING LAST NIGHT FROM WHAT I BELIEVE WAS ACID OBSTRUCTING MY BREATHING AND POSSIBLY ENTERING MY LUNGS. IT TOOK A GOOD 30 SECONDS OR MORE TO REGAIN MY BREATH. AFTER MY THROAT WAS A BIT SORE AND MY STOMACH UPSET. I BELIEVE THIS WAS PROBABLY SEVERE ACID REFLUX. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF I COULD HAVE DIED FROM THIS INCIDENT?? NOW I AM VERY NERVOUS TO SLEEP AT NIGHT FOR FEAR THAT I MAY DIE CHOKING IN MY SLEEP.
