The best carb blockers

Common Questions and Answers about The best carb blockers

carb

Tbd I recommend low carb (20 - 50 g a day), moderate protein (approx. 0.8 - 1 g / kg of body weight), and the fat that comes naturally with the selected foods; enough that you are not hungry. Note: you must not eat low fat foods - eat regular fat foods, use butter, oil reasonably in cooking, choose fatty meat cuts, avocado, etc).
Avatar f tn Carb Blockers are diet pills that work by inhibiting the metabolism of carbohydrates into stored fat. Brand names include Carb Intercept, Anatril,C Block and Carb Cutter.
Avatar n tn I use the sweet bee carb counter it lists 200 top foods and their carb and glucose level
225237 tn?1333138999 There is a book I recommend it is called sugar blockers, you must take care of your self now and try your best. I wish I would have had that advice when I told I was prediabetic. You know there is something you can start taking now to control it. It is called Mulberry leaf vitamin all natural. Also cinnamon, and there are other natural herbs that can help. If you are over weight it is best to get rid of that extra weight.
Avatar f tn ve heard that eating unprocessed food, lots of vegetables etc and exercise are the best ways to regulate your hormones and therefore your insulin resistance and this helps mitigate the symptoms of PCOS by addressing the root cause. Has anyone experienced this? Has better nutrition been successful at treating PCOS?
973741 tn?1342342773 There are so many ways to go about nutrition. What do you think is the best way to eat healthfully and manage your weight and health goals? Paleo? Low Carb? Mediterranean? Vegan? Dash? All in or in moderation? Intermittent fasting? Supplements? It is overwhelming to really dig deep so it helps me to hear what works for others.
159619 tn?1707018272 Sadly, diabetes is a lifelong condition although it is still possible if people get a controlled diet and body weight, the diabetes is reversed. I think the best way now is to stick with exercise and drugs.
Avatar m tn Your blood pressure is not very low. Usually, people don't get symptomatic unless systolic drops below 100, but this is highly individual. 85 diastolic is actually in the borderline high range. 120 systolic is just fine. Calcium channel blockers don't lower the heart rate as much as beta blockers, and may work reducing premature beats, especially those that origin from the upper chambers (PACs). They lower the blood pressure some.
Avatar f tn I have gained 50 pounds over the last 10 years and I definitely believe it is because of the atenolol. Prior to taking beta blockers, I NEVER had a weight problem. On the few occasions that I did gain weight (usually over the holidays), I was able to diet and exercise and get the weight down to where it should be with no problem. Not anymore.
Avatar f tn IST is exceptionally hard to manage, and often is either just tolerated or managed with medications such as beta blockers (which if the asthma is very severe, can be exacerbated by beta blockers). Ablation of the sinus node is rarely performed and done and if so, only in the most severe cases. This is because the sinus node is smaller in size, and management of IST often means that the entire sinus node can be damaged.
Avatar f tn 007 sounds like real low tsh but not a number that sounds like the t-4. Do you have the ranges? Maybe the 18 number is the t-4 if you come from Canada maybe? Our ranges are different. like the Free t-4 is (.80-1.80) and the Free t-3 is (2.7-4.2) the tsh is usually (.35-3.0) here in the US.Did you have the 'free" testing done or the total? Sorry I'm not the doc but thought I could clarify this.
Avatar f tn I found Bisoprolol was the best one and it only took 1.25mg to have the desired effects. If I increased to just 5mg my heart rate became too slow, around 28bpm. At 1.25mg I could get my heart rate quite high, but it got there nice and gently. No sudden adrenaline surges caused it to suddenly jump high. It was strange to not feel those familiar butterflies when under stress. Bisoprolol didn't affect my blood pressure, I had to take an Ace Inhibitor separately for that.
1432927 tn?1283546704 Try to remember that beta blockers relax the heart and block out runs of adrenaline....sometimes doc have to change out beta blockers to find the one that works best for you and that is most effective. I agree w. Jerry wholeheartedly tho.....what your doc says is what goes......if the doc says keep running well Forrest Gump i would keep running...your doc knows your entire medical hx. and he/she knows what is best for you....
Avatar f tn m taking beta blockers. My PACs respond well to beta blockers but sometimes they break through the beta blockade. It typically happens if I'm on a low carb diet (for some mysterious reason I haven't yet figured out) Lifting weights is notorious for provoking premature beats. The adrenaline levels in your blood can increase 100 times from baseline, and the heart rate isn't as high as during aerobic exercise.
Avatar m tn My problem is that my regular running workout 3 times a week was affected by the limit on exercise pulse immediately last year from the sotalol beta blocker, and I am considering weaning off the sotalol, in order to be able to restore my running effort beyond jogging. I am looking for medical advice beyond the weaning alternative, with the understanding that ablation has its own problems such as reoccurence of flutter, and almost all other medications have drawbacks in their side effects.
Avatar n tn I had a test program whereby I could try out three different meters for a couple of months to see which I liked best. Perhaps there is a group that does the same in your area. Don't be afraid to contact each of the different companies about trying things out. It may not be offered, but keep in mind that in addition to the $5000 or so price of the pump, you will be spending another $1500 a year in pump supplies. Companies want your business. Don't be afraid to negotiate with them.
1124887 tn?1313754891 I should mention that I immediately stopped my low carb diet when the PACs were at the worst. I also tried to take some rapidly acting beta blockers (propranolol) which had always been effective in the past. It didn't help. I keep having this nagging fear that my PACs will return, because 1) I have no idea what really triggered them, and 2) beta blockers did not help.
Avatar f tn It happened again last night, and the only explanation I have for it is a very heavily carb-laden meal late in the evening. A couple of weeks ago, and I can't believe I'm saying this, I think eating a very large pomegranate late in the evening caused it. Same MO...heart rate upper 80s/lower 90s sustained for hours.
Avatar m tn Carbs allow more of the amino acid L-tryptophan to penetrate your brain. The L-tryptophan triggers your brain to make more serotonin, and the serotonin makes you feel happier. It's as simple as that! But if you're following a low-carb diet, it's possible that not enough L-tryptophan will penetrate your brain, and you could wind up depressed.
Avatar n tn I have been told that eating a very low carb meal for supper is the best way to achieve a consistent night - but I have found that even plain garden salads do little to check my rise. HOWEVER, last week I travelled to the UK for a conference and for the entire week I had healthy sugar levels. My bedtime, midnight, 3am and morning levels were nearly all the same (90 - 126)..... I am so confused!
Avatar n tn A well balanced diet will keep anyone healthy. The best foods for him are the same foods that are good for you. However, lower carb foods can help prevent highs. What a diabetic needs to understand about food is that to accurately count the carbohydrates in the food is essential. If you need help figuring out carbs, Calorie King has an excellent book which lists carbs for most foods and restaurants. http://www.calorieking.
768044 tn?1294223436 - At the time, the side-effects of the calcium channel blockers were all quite frequent and could be severe, so calcium channel blockers weren't usually recommended as a first line treatment. So, there was no "first place winner" for the Calcium Channel Blockers. Diltiazem appeared to be the clear loser though. I guess the choice of which to take would have been between Verapamil and Nimodipine. But...
Avatar n tn I would like to know the best diet for diabetes 2, which I take 1 pill for in the am. I have just recently had my lap band taken out. Thanks for your help.
Avatar m tn ISA is Intrinsic Sympathomemetic Activity, which means they block Catacholomines(adrenaline), just like any Beta Blocker, but the ISA properties keeps the heart at a higher rate than the equivalent dose of NON-ISA Beta Blockers. The two ISA Beta Blockers I know of are Acebutolol and Pindolol. Acebutolol is a selective Beta Blocker, Pindolol is non-selective. I read that 200 mg of Acebutolol is equivalent to 50 mg of Atenolol. With 75 mg of Atenolol, my resting heart rate was 55.
Avatar m tn You are right! I lost 24 pounds in 2 Months! I cannot believe it! I am feeling so good with a new diet from a nutritionist in LA. No medication and a lot of support! Is really better to find an expert.
Avatar n tn Lower Carbs and Blood Pressure A low-carbohydrate diet may be more effective to lower blood pressure than the weight-loss drug orlistat combined with a low-fat diet. In a year-long study, investigators at Duke University Medical Center and the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Durham, N.C. compared the effects of the two weight loss strategies in 146 overweight men and women who had obesity-related health problems such as diabetes, high cholesterol and arthritis as well as high blood pressure.
793305 tn?1493925518 My belief is those things are worth trying but they are secondary to tried and true things such as weight loss, exercise and lowering carb intake. Check out the website I sent as they have a whole separate forum on diet and nutrition.
