Taking celexa and zoloft

Common Questions and Answers about Taking celexa and zoloft

Avatar n tn Its mechanism of action, efficacy, and side effects are generally similar to other SSRIs such as Prozac, Paxil, and Zoloft.
Avatar n tn I have been taking celexa for 2 months for depression, ocd, and anxiety.I felt the effects of the medication from the first dose(20 mg),my doctor said to cut the next dose to 10 mg and i have been fine ever since.Celexa took care of the depression, ocd, and anxiety.I have never felt so good in my whole life, and thank God that I got help.I went from wanting to kill myself, to loving my life again in a matter of days.I do not have any side effects(sexual) anymore.I feel very fortunate to be alive.
Avatar n tn Hello im taking celexa 10Mg for about two Weeks now and I feel a little better.. I was on effxor for about 4 years and it worked good but after having a bad panic attack may doctor put me on celexa... Will it help?
Avatar n tn NOw she has increased my dosage to 20 mg for celexa and the lowest dose of clonazepam twice everyday. I am taking celexa regularly but i only take clonazepam once at night time, is it bad, do i have to take it twice as she had asked to. My reason for not taking in daytime is becasue i have three kids who are home these days and i cannot sleep while they are home or feel sleepy and suffer fro headaches if i dont sleep.
Avatar n tn There are four or five other antidepressants to try instead of celexa, so ask your doctor about zoloft or paxil as well as a new form of celexa that does not have as many side effects and will allow you to go to a higher dose.
497348 tn?1283439666 if your doing fine on it now, then the old saying if it's not broke don't try to fix it, allot of ssri's have adjustments you have to make to them, so give this med a chance, I took zoloft with my first and far WORSE bout with PA, and it saved and gave me back my life, Panic free from a number of years, this round with PA was much milder and I tried zoloft and was not right for me, so I went to celexa have been on it for 3 weeks and feel better already, could it be a placibo affect, WHO CARES L
Avatar n tn I have spoken to quite a few people that have had this reaction to all ssri's. Zoloft, Celexa, Lexapro. Prozac and the rest of them. They work with most people, but there are a lot of us that can't tolerate them. I only took two pills and am still messed up and nervous along with insomnia.
Avatar m tn Should a patient be on zoloft and celexa at the same time. I have a patient on celexa 20mg that started 5/17/11. She was previously on Zoloft 200mg daily that has been decreased to 100mg daily x7 days then 50mg x7days then d/c. My problem is this combination of the two. Should she have finished the tapering of zoloft before starting the celexa?
Avatar f tn i was taking celexa for like 8 months or so and ive changed over to zoloft ive been taking the zoloft now for 12 days and the celexa i was weened down off of like 6 to 7 days ago, well the first week ive felt fine now that its almost been 2 weeks im having my head hurt just feel kind of crapy with head hurting, so is this the celexa withdrawl simptoms or is it the zoloft?
Avatar f tn The correct way to do this is to go down by 50Mg increments per week (before introducing the Celexa) Then on the third week when your down to 50Mgs a day of Zoloft, then you introduce the Celexa and dump the Zoloft. It absolutly shocks me that I know this simple swap method to avoid withdrawl and most doctors know nothing of it. It really makes me question just how much these doctors know about these medications.
Avatar n tn I feel like a damn guinea pig.... Approx. a yr.ago my obgyn put me 1st on Celexa 20mgs felt GREAT for 2 wks, then my body, i feel, got immuned to the stuff, so I up'd it to 1 in the a.m. & 1 in the p.m. felt confused, couldn't concentrate etc. He then switched me to Zoloft...sweating, bad crying dreams, more depressed so my therpist told me to stop taking Zoloft, wait until I see a "shrink" to determine what I need to take, which is a month away.
Avatar n tn My doctor is recommending Zoloft or Celexa to treat my panic attacks. Being the health conscious person I am I asked her to allow me some time to do my research. I would love to hear your personal experience on either of the medications to help me make a better decision. Benefits to both? Things to know about one or the other? Side effects? Is it true Zoloft makes you ffeel not hungry and often times you loose weight? I don't want it to effect my weight (up or down).
Avatar n tn Hi Yardea: IMO both are very good but as with all antidepressants it really depends on the individual. I was on Zoloft for 5 years then switched to Celexa when Zoloft exhausted and 5 years later I am on a combination of Zoloft & Celexa and just recently switched to Zoloft & Lexapro. Eventually my doctor wants to ween me off the Zoloft to see if the Lexapro will help on it's own. For everyone it is different. Follow your doctor's advice because it is different for everyone.
Avatar n tn Once she switched him to 60 mg, it did not seem to help so she decided to wean him off of celexa and put him on Lexapro since he had success with Celexa and it would be an easier transition. She started with 20 mg for two weeks, then 25 mg for two weeks and then 30 mg. Currently he has been on the 30 mg for 8 days. I spoke to his therpist a couple of days ago and asked her if I should be seeing some improvement since switching to Lexapro.
11487567 tn?1418757728 Hi, New here... my daughter was prescribed zoloft (sertraline) 25 mg, celexa 10 mg, and lexapro 5 mg to take all together. When picking up her prescription, the pharmacist questioned the prescribing doctors mix saying that taking all three could cause serotonin syndrome. My daughter started out on the zoloft at half dose for a week, then went to 25 mg, then added celexa and lexapro a few weeks later. She is now at week 16 but seems to be doing fine except for she can't get rid of a flu.
Avatar f tn I think you made a good choice. Lexapro is literally the only SSRI I've taken that has not caused severe side effects. I have a very difficult time with drugs and this one was a godsend for me. (I've tried Celexa, Zoloft, Paxil, & Effexor.) I took the generic for a month and didn't notice any difference in it's effectiveness versus Lexapro.
Avatar f tn Before, my regular routine was taking the zoloft first and my anxiety took over and always made me so nervous in the mornings I would have to take the clonazepam shortly after the zoloft. Is there something stronger than zoloft that may help my severe anxiety better? Thank you so much.
Avatar f tn when that time is over (and only then) do you start the Celexa and stop the Zoloft. Start the Celexa at a low dose for first few weeks. The day you start the Celexa your body will be fairly well washed out on the Zoloft by using this method. The dosing with Celexa is much different, so do some homework on it's proper dosing. If memory serves me right I think 20Mgs a day is considered a good starting point.
4170713 tn?1350582710 I have been on zoloft for over a month and for the last week my anxiety has been real bad and I get real irritated. My chest feels weird which makes me freak out more. I was on celexa for years and it stopped working. I was put on effexor and it put me in a deep depression. Now I've been on 50 mg of zoloft for over a month....I'm thinking of getting off of it to...
Avatar m tn She wrote me a prescription for Celexa but the drug-information sheet listed the same side effects as Zoloft so I decided not to start that medication.....I did advise her of one of my friends who also took zoloft and then celexa but also had bad side effect....Her doctor put her on xanex and she has had no serious side effects.....The doctor said that she would not prescribe me xanex because of my previous admitted drug/Alcohol addictions.......
Avatar f tn I don't know anything about Paxil and why you are against taking it. I will say from my own experience that this last time I tried lexapro and celexa and I didn't like either one of them. They decreased my libido and had some other unpleasant side effects. The whole reason I went on Wellbutrin was becuase it has the least side affects. No decrease in libido and I haven't gained a whole bunch of weight.
Avatar f tn i got terrible insomnia and the jitteryness and twitches. but me and zoloft are bffs now. ive been taling it for panic for almost 2 yrs now. im still a bit jittery at times and i even kinda twitch randomly but i can handle it. its not like obvious or anything. youre already ahead of my game, the therapy helps alot too. and zoloft is a very safe drug. im not gonna lie, the first couple weeks felt like hell for me but thats pretty much how anxiety is for everyone.
Avatar n tn It's very frustrating and depressing....and I'm not even taking zoloft for depression! I tried to wean myself slowly last month, but my anxiety became so intense I thought I would crawl out of my own skin. I told this to my dr. who responded by upping the dosage, which hasn't helped. I just want to be done with anti-depressants as they've not helped...in fact, I think they've just added more problems.
Avatar f tn i am menopausal and having severe anxiety attacks. ativan for temp. since it's highly addictive. what is better celexa vs zoloft. am confused and scared on stopping ativan and lexapro then adding another med on top of it all. plus i gotta go back to work after the labor day weekend.
Avatar f tn I have been anxious but the swith has me taking 50mg(half my daily dose) of zoloft with 20mg of Celexa. In 4 or 5 days I will be stopping the zoloft altogether. If need be, I will increase my dose of Celexa to 40mg in a few weeks . If none of that works I shall seek out another option. Thank you so much for your advice. I really need the communication, it comforts me. I truly appreciate it.
Avatar n tn i started taking zoloft 100 mg 2 times a day and xanax 1 mg 3 times a day and its making me black to the point i stole something and did not come out of it till i was sitting in a holding sell in hand cuffs what does this mean ?
Avatar m tn Thanks for the info. It's only my second day taking the Zoloft and so far no side effects, other than a slightly drier mouth. I really hope these are the ones that work for me. I've forgotten who my real self is in my natural state. It's been so long. Well, I'm bound to find something that works. Thanks.
