taking celexa and klonopin together

i started taking zoloft 100 mg 2 times a day and xanax 1 mg 3 times a day and its making me black to the point i stole something and did not come out of it till i was sitting in a holding sell in hand cuffs what does this mean ?

I took celexa and methadone together without incident ....im really surprised the methadone doctor prescribed the clonapine....most clinics are dead set agents the use of benzos and methadone together ....at the time of induction I was on xanex and the clinic use to pitch a fit every time a u/a came back positive for it....I would always have to get a letter from the prescribing doctor stateing that it would be ok to take both at the same time...

Namaste, You do not have to be off Anafranil prior to taking Celexa, although you should not be taking them together. Anafranil is one of the older forms of anti-depressant called a tricyclic, whereas Celexa is one of the newer SRRI's. hello all i have been on 40mg celexa and .05 klonopin for a few months now. I feel that the ssri doesnt relly touch the anxiety ,and without the klonopin i would still be anxious! Does anyone get anxiety relief from there ssri alone? i know many people take 2 or more meds and I just wanted to know if im on the right track. any input would be great!

Hi Kim, I was taking Celexa and Klonopin, but I felt like the Celexa had stopped working for me, so my Doctor switched me to Wellbutrin extended release and that seems to be working better for my depression. She did not taper me off, just switched me and I had no withdrawl symptoms. Everyone is different tho...

I would definitely give the 20mg at least 4-6 weeks, and take the Klonopin as prescribed and see how you do before upping the Celexa. If you haven't been working with a psych doc then I would switch to one. I would also ask your doctor "why" he wants you to up the dosage so quickly before giving it time to work. Celaxa is an excellent drug, but what works for one, may not another.

My question now is, can I take one of these low dose Xanax today? I started the Celexa last night and took 1 mg Klonopin to sleep. I just want to feel normal again.

I have been on 40mg's of celexa for about 8 month's now and also 1mg a day of klonopin each day. I recently tried cutting from 40 to 20 mg's of the celexa to get myself off of it and was having such a weird feeling like my head was sinking in. I then started taking 40mg's again and tried stopping the klonopin that did not work! I was having such panic attacks without the klonopin once I took it it made a world of a difference.

I take Celexa, but I need a little Klonopin twice a day too. I've tried Celexa alone. It didn't take care of all the symptoms. I've tried Klonopin alone and it didn't work by itself either. Sometimes it has to be a combo.

That's a tough one. I would recommend the Substance Abuse forum. They are really good about knowing what happens when you come off certain meds and they know about all kids of med mixes. Is he trying to come off the Xanax and Klonopin, too? It sounds like it could be from withdrawing from the meds, but it could also be from the mix. I have no idea.

i switched from lexapro to celexa about 3 weeks ago due to insurance. i was on 20 mg of lex for a month and im on 40mg of celexa for 3 weeks along with .05 klonopin in the morning when my anxiety is at its highest. in my opinion i dont feel like the celexa even touches my anxiety thats why i take the klonopin with it in the morning! I dont know if maybe i need to give more time for the celexa to work even if i was on lexapro before it for 3 weeks?

You may feel a few side effects in the beginning like tiredness from the Klonopin and maybe a little nausea from the Celexa. Try not to worry about those because they usually go away. Once the Celexa kicks in and gets in to your system you may not even need the Klonopin any more. Many of the antidepressants like Celexa work on both anxiety and depression.

Now its 6 weeks later and I have started 10 mg of Celexa for the last 3 weeks and been taking .25 Klonopin at night. Sometimes the anxiety is getting so bad that I have to take a Xanax or Klonopin when I get home from work just to eat dinner. I want to exercise and eat normal but I have no energy and no appetite. Food makes me want to gag. I'm terribly worried about becoming addicted to benzo's but they are the only thing giving me any relief so that I can eat dinner.

I just started 20 mg of generic Celexa (3 days ago) and the doc also gave me Ambien and Klonopin (take .25mg) to relieve the anxiety until the Celexa kicks in. I wake up shaky/hot and kind of panicky. Which drug is this from drugs, or is it still the anxiety. I know this takes time, but I don't want to mess with any drugs that might be making the symptoms worse (i.e Klonopin or Ambien). I also don't want to become dependent on the Klonopin and ambien either.

Buspar did nothing for my anxiety. I take Celexa and klonopin ( tapered down to under a mg. per day) Celexa does help. My doc took it for anxiety, himself.

I am trying taper off celexa while currently taking klonopin. I get these symtpoms like a rush in my head and numbness in my hands. It's so annoying. I was wondering if there is something to take natural to subside these symtpoms? It's not fun at all. I tried this once before and it happened and I wimped out and started taking them again, because it's a terrible feeling! I need to fight this and be strong! I am doing it very gradually.

i have had problems with my anxiety being really bad this past year and he prescribed me on klonopin. so i take celexa 40 mg for depression and klonopin .5 mg 3 times a day and now im on a new med called vistaril 25 mg three times a day with the klonopin. is this safe? i feel like im taking too much? please help!!! thanks!

Hi. I am diagnosed mood disorder co morbid anxiety. I am on several meds: lamictal, celexa and seraquel plus 1 mg klonopin tid. I also have ativan, .5 mg, that my pdoc "would prefer I don't take". However, a few times a month, ( 2 this month) I had a horrible anxiety attack and took the ativan. My question is is it okay to take the 2 drugs together: ativan and Klonopin. Thanks. I am seeing my pdoc on Nov. 11th and need to talk (again, so frustrating) about my meds.

t imagine very many people taking three different drugs that all target serotonin receptors at the same time. Celexa and Lexapro are essentially the same drug, with Lexapro being Celexa with some of the molecules cut out. This is weird indeed. I wonder why the Zoloft wasn't tried at a more therapeutic dose instead of layering on the same kind of drugs.

I also take 05 mg klonopin with clexa in the morning and I feel the klonopin helps more than the celexa with anxiety. that being said I am slowly weaning off the celexa very slowly and see if the klonopin will be enough. the jaw clenching especially at night is not fun. We are all different and hope it works for u!

I took Klonopin alone for two years after quitting Effexor XR. Originally I was given the Klonopin to help with sleep becuase of the insomnia caused by the SSRI. Alone, the Klonopin worked fine. my old Doc said this was fine and was glad that one med was all I needed. He left town and the new Doc hates benzos so I'm taking Celexa and tapering off Klonopin. I am taking neurontin for sleep. If my panic attacks return, I will get a new Doc. I am now on three med instead of one.

I am ok for a while then all of a sudden boom there goes a panic attack! I am on celexa and klonopin which has helped me a lot. My doctor told me to take 2 mg's a day of klonopin and I am now on 20mgs of celexa I was once on 40. I only take half a klonopin every morning I want to try and take myself off of it. My primary care doctor tells me otherwise than the psychiatrist he rather me try not taking klonopin, because it can be so addicting.

I decided to wean myself off of celexa and I did it very gradually and the correct way according to my doctor. I stopped taking it almost a week ago. I been going through absolute torture! I never experienced something like this before.
