Celexa and hallucinations

Common Questions and Answers about Celexa and hallucinations

celexa

Avatar m tn Yes, Celexa can make tinnitus worse by causing stuffy nose and ear and even by causing auditory hallucinations. Celexa can cause sinusitis like symptoms. Please consult the doctor who prescribed Celexa and either look for an alternative or a dose adjustment. Hope this helps. Take care!
824226 tn?1238637794 I currently take 40mg of celexa at night and am taking 37.5 mg of phentemerine. I have not noticed any side effects but what are they I am curious if ever i noticed something different about myself. I cant find anything on the internet to find an answer to this question.
Avatar n tn You report that your wife had experienced hallucinations, weight loss, loss of motivation, diminished concentration, and social withdrawal. This sounds like major depression with psychotic features, a condition that is usually treated with a combination of antidepressants (such as Celexa) and antipsychotic medications (such as Risperdal). Antidepressants may take 6 to 8 weeks before achieving full effects.
Avatar f tn I first took Celexa about 7 years ago and noticed my life drastically change for the better. My entire life did a 180 and everything in it was great because I not only felt better but was able to deal with events in my life with more ease. Then after being on it for about 2 years I quit using it because so many people kept saying, "you shouldn't use medications, bla bla bla.
Avatar m tn I'm not sure if she is going through depression now or if she is still going through withdrawl from the ULTRAM or if she had serotonin syndrome as a result of mixing the ULTRAM and the Celexa. It's hard to get a grasp on exactly what triggered the hallucinations and depressed state. She was diagnosed with a psychotic break but nothing was said about the root cause of the break. Does anyone care to comment or share an experience?
Avatar m tn Only after many suicide attempts and hallucinations did we find out all the antidepressants and antipsychotics, and anti seizure meds including all the ones you are taking I was on were causing it! I was taking about 14 pills a day when they cut me off most of them because of my heart. It was a blessing in disguise. The only med I take now is Lamictal 400 mg a day (it has to be built up slowly) It's one you haven't mentioned which kind of amazes me.
Avatar n tn after taking paxil, i experienced my first mixed episode (which including massive amounts of energy, hallucinations, and coginitve problems). i am in the midst of another one--- not sure why (racing racing thoughts about terrible things and risk taking behavior)--- i am on lithium (900 mg) and tegretol (40 Mg) and they are not helping me. i cannot take anti-psychotics-- they cause a type of "explosion" inside my head.
1345272 tn?1276403928 and celexa.. thats the one the doctor is tapering me off of and it makes me really uneasy considering ive been on it for so long. With the cymbalta ive only been on it for 3 weeks and so far i don't feel much of a difference at all. Just the same fatigue/depression and anxiety i feel regularly. I sure did feel a negative effect from the wellbutrin today though. Do you think if i continue taking the wellbutrin the negative side effects would ease?
Avatar n tn because of side effects - some even caused hallucinations. Then I thought the savior drug had come along, and my facial pain would come under better control ... I am referring to Lyrica, which I was started on last summer. But after two months of almost blissful pain-free days from the face pain, even being able to go outside in the wind and cold, I started having trouble seeing and then I lost my sight for a whole day.
454371 tn?1221300985 Popular SSRI's include Celexa, Zoloft, Prozac, Zoloft, Paxil, and Lexapro. SNRI's include Cymbalta, and Effexor. Brand names of triptans include Imitrex, Zomig, Frova, Maxalt, Axert, Amerge, and Relpax. The FDA recently asked the manufacturers of these types of drugs to include warning labels on their products that tell you about the potential risk of serotonin syndrome. Talk to your doctor before stopping any medication.
Avatar n tn This did wonders for the withdraw feelings, but the anxiety is over-whelming. I was burning out my skin, shaking, fearful thoughts and feelings raced, and a buzzed feeling has taken over my body. My question to you is, do you think that this anxiety will pass after a couple of weeks or do you think perhaps 20mg is too much for my anxiety? How long of a chance do you give it? You advice has been right on thus far, hope you can help me through the end.

Avatar n tn X is hard to stop because its a social drug and almost becomes part of your lifestyle (at least it has for me). I also recently started having bad hallucinations on X and i feel like i am causing brain damage... I just get to the point where I dont care anymore about anything... I just want to feel good; however with each time I use it gets worse. I hope I can find the will to stop because I know it can seriously f***k you up. I wish you all the best.
Avatar n tn Look, everyone seems to have valid points. I shot "smack"(heroin) for 10 yrs...got tired of trying to get the money just to stay "well". Used Methadone for 4 months every other day or every two days to come off the "H" so I wouldn't get strung-out on it(the Methadone). I've always been an anxious person and prone to being on the verge of "panic attacks"...
Avatar m tn Anxiety, depression and addiction are terrible condtions. They are very real and can be very debilitating. I would like to share my story of in hopes that it may inspire or offer hope to those who feel hopeless in their fight against mental illness or substance abuse. I hope it helps someone out there. Please respond with questions or comments. Feel free to PM as well if you are more comfortable with that. Thanks.
607502 tn?1288251140 I have finally finished up in hospital, private mental hospital under a new psychiatrist - My psychologists and my GP convinced me this is where I need to be, ive become obsessed with suicide and wanting to die and my mind has turned into a mess of racing thoughts and well. Basically I am in a mixed episode, depressed, agitated, hearing things and a head full of noise.
Avatar m tn I am on celexa right now and patience is not a word in my vocabulasry right now. I know I have to give the meds time to level me out I just wish it would happen yesterday and not two or three weeks from now. I agree I do need to know what caused this attack of depression/anxiety once again. I did a cognitive therapy course last year for five weeks. Today it feels like what I learnt has sort of gone to the wayside.
Avatar n tn My Dr tells me to take 80 mg of Adderall and 4 mg of xanax every day. I rarely take the whole amount, usually 40 or 60 mg of adderal and 1 or 2 mg of xanax. I am afraid to take the whole amount and on my days off I try to take less so that my tolarance will go down. Whats this going to do to my health in the long term? I am sure this Dr is a psycho, he gives my husband who has been in and out of hospitals for psychosis, who tell him he hears voices every day 90 mg a day!!
Avatar n tn Two nights straight I have had hallucinations. Everything in my house seems to be alive. I would see funiture move and follow me and also little people. Is that a side affect? Should I stop taking them? I get real bad headaches also, my Doctor had given me some Vicidon to releive the pain, but I was constantly taking it and always had refill, until she finally stopped giving me anymore. I feel I became sonewhat addicted to them and always asked for more.
Avatar n tn i looked up crack cocaine addiction and it said some symptoms are hallucinations, depression, damage of the pleasure receptors in the brain, irritability, anxiety, paranoia, and the worst one, intense cravings. so if youre not having cravings, maybe youre not really experiencing withdrawal symptoms. im glad you stopped. please if you want your dignity and you respect yourself, dont start back again. it will take everything from you. so run away from that devil drug!!!
2126606 tn?1346348724 Opioid-induced hyperalgesia is a condition where the increased use of opiates, like Oxycontin and hydrocodone, heightens one's sensitivity to discomfort and reduces their tolerance for pain. Essentially, people will increase the amount of painkillers they are taking as their discomfort continues to escalate, but the added medication can actually make their pain worse.
Avatar n tn My 15 year old son has a depression and ADD diagnosis and is on Celexa, 40mgs of Adderrall (daily), Tenex at night and just added Risperdol for hallucinations. He recently broke into the med lockbox and stole over 20 Adderrall. Before I caught him, he snorted 60mg of Adderrall. He was psychotic for many hours, hallucinating terribly. He has been having horrible headaches daily, short term memory loss and hallucinations for about a month.
Avatar n tn Since then we have found that Risperdal caused severe side effects before reaching a therapeutic (working) dose, and Zyprexa, the second med used in an attempt to deal with delusions and hallucinations, is not working yet (we are at 6.25 mg/day at this time). Because of the sensitivity to the anti psychotics (although we need to give the Zyprexa more time), the psychs are wondering whether my wife does not have some other sort of dementia, and the name Lewy Bodies was mentioned.
Avatar n tn Funny you mention the panic disorder, after my second round of anti-biotics my GP said I was stressed and anxious and put me on a anti-depressent/anxiety med and I felt great for the first week or so, then had the WORST panic attacks ever, one after another and so on. (I had a reaction to the drug- I think it was celexa)? Then when I called my GP- and said what is going on here, they sent me to a pyschologist due to my sensitivy to meds.
Avatar m tn Yes, celexa can increase tinnitus by causing auditory hallucinations and stuffy nose and ears. Hence please discuss with your doctor regarding this. Since you had tinnitus before you started this drug, other causes should also be looked into. Besides loud noises, other causes include severe head trauma, sinus and respiratory infections, ear infections, wax build-up, high blood cholesterol, food allergies, and certain types of tumors. Do discuss this with your doctor and get yourself examined.
Avatar f tn The first 2 weeks were unbelievably awful, hallucinations of all sorts and physical symptoms. Only suymptom I missed was a seizure! I assumed these things would get better gradually but they havent. In fact, some have gotten worse....I have tried to be brave and have educated myself on Benzo withdrawel but at this point I am getting desperate. Fighting depression (probably partly from extreme sleep deficit-) and am very scared this WONT end. Which I would not be able to handle.
Avatar f tn So today my Celexa dose was upped from half a pill to 1 whole pill and the side effects are coming back like when I first started... Sweaty, can't sleep, headache, stiff neck, clenching teeth... Etc. I don't know what to do. I tried taking stuff for it, including an Oxy but still no change. What can I take to make these side effects not so bad? I don't see the dr till Thursday, so I can't ask her... If anyone has any suggestions?
1625195 tn?1332182262 I know the Citalopram is a substitute for Celexa and the Celexa is my antidepressant. Just like I was prescribed Trazodone and that is my sleeping pill. BUT this third one I take at night is Risperidone which is the substitute of Risperdal. Can someone PLEASE tell me what Risperdal/Risperidone is for? My doctors were sort of unclear about it and since I was more concerned with getting out of the mental hospital I was in, I forgot to ask them to repeat themselves.
Avatar m tn Feel free to PM as well if you are more comfortable with that. Thanks. I have struggled on and off with anxiety and depression for most of my life. Up until I was about 19 I was able to hide my anxiety and at that point my depression was not too bad. During my sophmore year of college the anxiety developed into panic attacks. My first panic attack landed me in the ER...I thought I was having a heart attack or stroke. (I know many have been there...and even though the Dr.
