Synthroid dosage amounts

Common Questions and Answers about Synthroid dosage amounts

synthroid

Avatar f tn Hello. I was wondering if I could get some advice on my current dose of Synthroid. I was on 88 mcg with a TSH of 5.8. I was increased to 100 mcg. I have been on 100 for 3 weeks. I went ahead and tested my TSH after only 3 weeks because I wasn't feeling great. I did not test Free's. The TSH is now 3.44. My symptoms are anxiety, constipation, interrupted sleep, etc.
Avatar n tn Hello. I was wondering if I could get an opinion. I was on 112 mg of Synthroid. My results were as follows: TSH .87 (.67 - 4.5) Free T4 1.2 (.67 - 1.76) I was feeling a little bit hyper on this dosage. I was nervous, not sleeping , etc. I think that I seem to do better when my TSH is a little higher. I already had 100 mg of Synthroid, so I started taking the 100's, with the knowledge of my doctor, but by day 3, I was crying, emotional, and not feeling good at all.
Avatar m tn In July we finally had our Dr. put her on 50mg Synthroid based on a 4.2 TSH level. She is lethargic, very bad muscles aches, and gained 20 pounds while surviving on about 1200 calories a day. She has not mensturated since 2008, she has osteopinia, low estrogen, stomach issues. Last year they found a microadenoma of the pituitary gland which is probably the cause for the multiple hormone deficiencies.
Avatar f tn I just had labs done last week to see where I am number wise.. I was on Synthroid but didnt take. I was on 88mcg. What is that equivalent to with the Armour? Could I be in the right dose? Looking forward to making some new friends that can relate!
Avatar n tn I had the exact same problem of severe toe/foot/lower leg cramps that sometimes scared me. These started a couple of years after I started Synthroid. (The Synthroid saved me.) But my doctor should have told me what two of my friends told me who take Sythroid--that I needed to take Magnesium. Within a week or two the cramps were all gone, and my fatigue level was better. I'm SO THANKFUL! (I always take the Mag.
Avatar n tn Hello. I was wondering if I could get your opinion. I was on 112 mg of Synthroid. My results were as follows: TSH .87 (.67-4.5) Free T4 1.17 I feel a little hyper. I suspect that I do better with my TSH a little higher. Would the next step be to drop down to 100 mg of Synthroid? Thank you for your opinion.
Avatar n tn 1 mcg of Synthroid and that he was going to change my dosage to 0.75 mcg. If my TSH level is already low, wouldn't lowering my dosage of Synthroid make this level even lower? Are palpitations a symptom of low TSH? I am due to have a repeat TSH in 2 months at which time I will ask the M.D. to add a T3 and T4 (these have not been drawn for some time).....
Avatar n tn Hi. I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism over 5 years ago now. I am very good about taking my meds and get my blood taken periodically to check TSH levels. I have been on .88 of synthroid now for the last 10 months. I recently went to my gyno and he took some blood to check my tsh because I was there. I usually go to another doctor but I let him take the blood. My results came back with a tsh of .12. They wanted to raise my synthroid to .1 . Shouldn't they want to lower the dosage?
491352 tn?1258807095 I am unable to find where someone posted the supplments recommended to take when you are on Synthroid to help with muscle weakness. I thought they were Vit D, Magnesium and calcium but what dosage of these?
5269784 tn?1365786036 Well..sort of...Synthroid is a "brand name", however the actual composition of synthroid has changed several times.
Avatar f tn TSH is almost worthless as a test and certainly totally inadequate to base and adjust dosage amounts. You REALLY need to be tested for Free T4 and Free T3. It seems like your decision of too much or too little medicine is based on the UNRELIABLE TSH test. The True test ultimately is how you feel. What are your symptoms? Are you actually feeling Hyper symptoms? If not then you are not hyper despite what the TSH number happens to be.
Avatar f tn I said I have been on synthroid for 25 years and have never been below the normal range and asked her if lowering the lithium dose could have caused this and she said maybe. Then she asked me what I wanted to do. She felt the free t4 was within range. I then said reduce the dose to see if it helps. She lowered it to 88 mcg from 100 mcg and said to have bloodwork in 4 to 6 weeks. I thought why is she asking me what to do and not her advising me .
Avatar n tn WHAT SHOULD i TAKE OF THE 50MCG TO EQUAL 125MCG. i DO HAVE A PRESCRIPTION TO GET THE 125mcg, and dosage is 0.5tablet 1x daily.....I hope I was able to explain this good enough for you to help me.....
1019013 tn?1252002096 In the past 19 years, I have taken Synthroid in varying amounts ranging from an all time high of .225 mg to my current dosage of .150. Last fall, I was having extreme fatigue and weight gain in spite of regular exercise and balanced diet. I saw the Physician's Assistant in my PCP's office who ran the normal gambit of thyroid tests. TSH, Free T3, and Free T4 were normal but the antibodies were extremely high.
