Avatar m tn Be careful with sports drinks, the might help you gain weight but they contain either a lot of fat and sugar or harmful sugar substitutes and lots of artificial ingredients that can be harmful as well. Eating added protein in your meals and weight training will add muscle, but if you just want to gain any kind of weight eat a lot of simple carbs. They will turn quickly to sugar and add fat to your body and are unhealthy, but you will gain weight.
Avatar f tn How hard was it to lose the baby weight? Be honest.
918275 tn?1254068752 I started out on Risperdal and then was switched to Abilify, which seemed to slow the weight gain down, but I am continuing to gain weight which is very troubling to me. I have read alot about Topamax and it's weight loss side effect. I wonder if my psych would be willing to prescribe it for me since the weight gain is really putting a damper on my progress as far as happiness goes.
Avatar f tn Congrats on your weight loss this year! I have to slightly disagree with the responses to do crunches. Not that doing crunches will do any harm, but ab work alone isnt enough to change your stomach. You arent going to see any kind of definition in your stomach if there is still a layer of fat covering your abs. And crunches don't burn enough calories to trim your stomach down either. Cardio will be more effective for trimming your waistline than crunches would be.
Avatar f tn Its not diabetes which causes weight gain, it's weight gain which causes diabetes. Her first step is to lose the weight, make lifestyle changes with her eating habits, and start performing 30 minutes of physical exercise daily. A huge number of people have been able to reverse their diabetic condition back to normal just with weight loss. Avatar n tn What foods does he accept and is he drinking any milk? What is his weight and height? Sorry for the questions but I need to know in order to answer your question properly. Thank you.
1473300 tn?1397588529 Your height and weight put you in the same weight gain category as me and by 20 weeks they want us to gain between 20-30 pounds. According to the book, we should gain 40-56 pounds by 38 weeks. The reason they give for gaining more weight early on is that with twins as they grow your stomach has less room for food so they want you to store up some fat at the beginning. This is why I will definitely get my doctor's opinion before following this advise.
Avatar f tn t seem too concerned, but not thrilled either, about my low weight gain. But it was enough to make her want an ultrasound to make sure baby was on track for weight (boy, was she: 71st percentile). After that I must say I have indulged quite a bit in my eating...I showed that doc and put on 10 pounds in two weeks lol. Today I went back, and (despite my piggish eating hehe) I lost four of those pounds.

Avatar m tn You are correct when you stated that you are underweight for your height. Being underweight, you have to gain weight slowly. Suggest you eat 3 meals a day and try to eat a Heart Healthy diet which will give you the nutrients, vitamins and minerals your body needs, gain weight slowly, and help with possibly preventing future disease states.
Avatar f tn Suggest replacing her milk, at meals and snacks, with Pediasure, milkshakes (milk and ice cream blended), or yogurt smoothies (yogurt, ice cream, or frozen fruit-if he accepts it- blended) for additional calories and protein for weight gain. Hoped this helped.

Avatar n tn and once I have completed the antibiotics is there a chance of losing the weight? or at least stopping the weight gain. Aside from the vanity point of losing the weight I am sure it makes the arthritis and numbness worse to be carrying around 40 - 50 extra pounds. I simply don't know how to fix this problem, as crazy as that sounds.
Avatar f tn Are there certain foods that I should avoid to prevent weight gain? Should I cut my alcohol and coffee consumption? I feel bloated especially at the end of the day. I've been on Synthroid 25mg for a week now and I feel my face is puffy and round. I also have an increased appetite! I'm 55 years old and in menopause and I really don't want to gain weight. I'm relatively physically active. Walks every day.
Avatar f tn The only time you would excessively gain weight is if you're excessively eating. If you do put on a little baby weight that's all it is is baby weight. After you have your baby the weight will come off. When you see women who still look pregnant that's because they "ate for 2" lol.
Avatar f tn (....I cannot seem to get healthy enough for a workout that will help reduce my weight gain. I am concentrating on whole grains, raw foods and yet the weight will not budge. I am very concerned for reoccuring cancer due to heavy weight and also complications with my general health due to the weight. I am medication free right now, except a small dose of Celexa. I have just had the flu/bronchitus for 10 days and it is brutal. I need to get strong to fight off these things....
