Tbd My be its the reason to stop beer and other alcohol drinks which contain sugar in high quantities which in turn ask liver to make more cholesterol and lead to fatty liver diseases. So in lower amount too sugary foods can raise cholesterol levels and its better to limit such foods. Not sure if its limited to Triglycerides. Anyway cutting sugar and starch rich foods is beneficial.

Avatar n tn A lot of food products from cereal to margarine to special vitamin blends claim to lower cholesterol. Generally they don't make a big change in levels. I would guess they just don't make it worse like eating a giant bacon cheese burger. And remember, our bodies make cholesterol so not all of it comes from food and not all the margarine and cereal in the world can give us perfect numbers.

She said daily exercise will help me reduce weight and at the same time my cholesterol level will go down. I also eat oatmeal instead of rice and wheat bread instead of white bread. More fruits and vegetables instead of junk foods. When I went back for another test the level became normal. Thanks for healthy habits.

I bought 8 navel oranges in a net sack, $2.89 x2, and my cholesterol came down 5 points lower, on LDL. and tomatoes are healers too, xtra olive oil, I tbsp, daily. Fish oil, cinnomon,good on blood lower sugar.

Are you asking if you can add it to other foods or use it in recipes? There are a variety of healthy grains such as buck wheat or wheat berry that have the same benefit as oatmeal but oatmeal is probably the easiest to make and consume. What specifically are you speaking of when you say 'the traditional way'?
