A beta blocker, or calcium-channel blockers can maintain a slow heart rate. If you are taking these drugs maybe an adjustment is warranted.

In one test study 15-18 percent of the test subjects could significantly lower blood pressure with calcium and D3.

Avatar m tn Your medication is a Angiotensin II Antagonist which blocks the enzyme that causes arteries to become stiff and unable to absorb the pressure of each heart beat. These are usually well tolerated and have few side effects and I have never heard of long term effects, but you should always follow your doctor's advice. You can ask him about another class of BP meds including beta blockers as they are also very effective, they do tend to cause more side effects though.

Avatar n tn Have you recently gained weight? That can make blood pressure go up. So can eating a lot of salty foods, fried foods, fatty foods; having a lot of caffeine (like in energy drinks, colas, etc.); drinking a lot of alcohol or taking street drugs. Blood tests like RAST may help in identifying the various allergens and you can avoid them. You can also discuss the option of immunotherapy or allergy shots with your allergist. Avatar m tn I'm betting you are just fine. It is anyone's guess how accurate a public Blood Pressure machine is, and also, I'm betting you sit down and immediately test your pressure. It is best if you are at rest for a few minutes prior to the test. That said, your blood pressure results aren't very high. I'd enjoy the surfing and quit worrying.
Avatar m tn I don't take any other medications. I have no other health issue so far but my wife has hypertension. She is on medication and her BP is controlled. We have just bought a BP monitor for her. My BP reading has been normal. I'm asking this question because I thought that the last reading might be too low. I read that some medications can cause one's BP to be higher and lower. I feel giddy sometimes. Thank you!
576054 tn?1217783138 My doctor will be doing tests in a few weeks, but I have had some fairly high glucose levels lately. I also have a history of high blood pressure although that has been better most of the time lately. Tonight all of a sudden I started having a terrible headache and nausea. My glucose level was somewhat high. So either this was due to the glucose levels or due to high blood pressure. Whatever it is, I am so tired of being sick and tired all of the time.
Avatar f tn however, if you had blood loss both iron stores and blood pressure would decrease. Suggest increasing your salt intake in foods or drinks (Gatorade) to help keep your blood pressure from decreasing. Women have a higher demand for iron then men due to monthly menstrual flow. There are 2 types of iron in our food sources, Heme iron and Non-Heme iron. Heme iron is from animal sources and Non-Heme is plant sources.
