Avatar m tn For the last three months I have had to take immodium approximately 3-4x a week and strugged frequently with bloating/diarhea/stomach cramping. Upon starting the gluten-free diet I swung to constipation which is now controlled via medication. My worst trigger food has always been spaghetti, so I purchased gluten-free (brown rice/white rice/quinoa) spaghetti and ate it tonight. I have not had diarhea but I am having gas and bloating. What could be the issue? I had meat sauce.
Avatar f tn ( can any of you ladies recommend a stool softener, or foods I could eat to help the process along. Thanks!
Avatar m tn You can add a sweetener to it or just add the quinoa to salads, soups, regular rice, and yogurt, etc to have the benefit of quinoa plus it will not be bland. Quinoa is a 'grain' consisting of 8 essential amino acids (protein) which is the same as milk, plus it is gluten free (wheat -free). It is a great protein source for people who do not eat meat and it can be eaten in different methods as I stated above.
Avatar n tn I'm a first time mom and I'll be 4 months on Wednesday. In my first 3 months I was sick all the time, the only thing I could eat was cereal, fruit and veggies. I want to continue to eat healthy but cereal arent filling me up anymore. What are some healthy foods that I can try.....I really don't have much taste for meats either.
Avatar f tn I have a lot of food sensitivities myself and have found that most processed and packaged foods are full of sulfites. I have found that I can eat a certain amount of some foods if they aren't processed and packaged foods. I have gone back to cooking and eating everything from scratch, because it helps to simplify things. I got sick and tired of reading labels. Not all foods have declared sulfites either, which is another problem.
Avatar f tn t know all of what you have to avoid, would be that a diet based on the whole foods concept should help some. The whole foods concept is based on the idea of eating foods as close to how you get them from nature as possible without processing them. Going gluten free has helped several of my conditions, including pre-diabetes. I went gluten free for other health reasons and had many benefits. I would have worse female problems than I do if I hadn't gone gluten free.
Avatar f tn //www.whfoods.com/ and his healing with foods site is up-to-date and interesting - http://www.whfoods.com/diseasestoc.php. Right now, I enjoy eating quinoa - using it instead of rice.
Avatar f tn it has to proccess everything you eat, drink, breathe, and absorbed through the skin. No alcohol and just eat healthy, as much organic as possible, whole/raw foods, whole grains, lots of fruit and veggies, green/white tea, as little processed food as possible. Try to use unscented stuff, filtered water, natural cleaning products. Discuss any supplements with your Dr for sure, but B complex with higher B12 and vitamin D3 are good starters.
Avatar m tn Wild rice, millet, quinoa (find useful cooking information and recipes for quinoa on care2.com under healthy living, then use key words to find the information about quinoa. Annie has some very good information about quinoa), amaranth, and teff are all options for a gluten-free diet. Have you already had the surgery? I do know of someone who is a long time survivor, and he is doing very well after many years.
140029 tn?1393298142 Try this: Cook some brown rice, whichever kind you like. You can add flaxseed oil and a touch of sea salt and/or olive oil. Go easy on the oil, so you don't upset your stomach. You do need some healthy fat in the diet, and this is a good way to get a little bit with your first meal of the day. I use a sea salt called Real Salt. You can buy it in bulk at a health food or natural food store. Or, some places sell the same salt in various packages.

Avatar n tn What exactly can't you eat? I'm having the same issues but i force myself to eat because i need it and so does the baby. I eat small meals but very bland. Nothing with sauce or too much seasoning. I actually don't east meat anymore because, since I've been pregnant, it makes me sick. So i just rest loss of vegan foods like quinoa, kale, tofu, veggies..
Avatar n tn Another big food intolerance to consider is gluten intolerance. I think it is wise to test your son for Celiac. If it comes back negative, this is good news. But, a person can still be gluten intolerant without having Celiac. The treatment for it is the same either way, which is to avoid gluten and dairy, particularly cow's milk. I can't tolerate any kind of lactose, cow or goat. Your son seems to be displaying the classic symptoms of Celiac.

1812479 tn?1316868350 Hi quinoa (said Kee-wah) is a different grain altogether. Try the corn and rice pasta. I just use vermicelli, or rice pasta and it's pretty good, but different texture to wheat pasta. I use Bob's Red Mill pancake mix too, it is really good and the texture is pretty close to that of wheat pancakes.

Avatar f tn I am 7 weeks 1 day today and I would like to know if I still need to eat fatty foods or can I cut them out all together.? Does the baby need them too?
Avatar f tn I'm a little confused -- you say you want more protein. Is this a body building thing, because there are a lot of vegetarian foods high in protein. Brown rice powder isn't one of them -- brown rice protein is, but that's protein isolated from brown rice, whereas hemp powder is just powdered hemp, which as a seed will have some protein but is mostly nutritious for its omega 3 fatty acids. But all nuts are high in protein, as are all beans.
973741 tn?1342342773 What do you think the best foods are for weight loss? Is it about portion control or what we eat? A list of things to make and eat would be really helpful for us simpletons who have to work at making food decisions and don't want to spend too much time doing it.
Avatar n tn Because most fleshy fruits are high in sugar content, moderation is called for, but nuts, seeds, squash, and grain-like foods such as buckwheat and quinoa are also fruits and quite good for you. You get to choose the diet you want to follow, but whichever you choose just make sure it has all the nutrients you need, including antioxidants. An exception is if you're heavily into resistance training, in which case you will need additional protein. Good luck meeting your goals.
