Avatar f tn I need to start eating more low glycemic index foods. Anyone know of good cookbooks?
Avatar n tn Need a list of low iodine foods Please . I am having a whole body scan in 2 weeks.
425199 tn?1313068997 I'm not sure if anyone will know this or not, but I have a question about the LID. Kosher salt is acceptable on the LID - it is non-iodized. Then, doesn't it follow that foods that are certified kosher but have salt are using kosher salt? So, I could have the lightly salted Matzos as opposed to the unsalted ones? And I could have the salted kosher margarine (dairy free) as opposed to the unsalted one (which, of course, my supermarket is out of)?
Avatar n tn Thank you all so much for your helpful bits of info. I'm glad I'm not the only junk food junkie dyyyyyyyying for a pizza right now (it'll be the first thing I eat since the first day I can eat real food is super bowl sunday - hehe). If you like sweets, I've found that gummy bears stick to the rules. And the fajitas recipe in the cookbook is super yummy. Liz - you mentioned that you ate half your daily allowance of meat at lunch and the rest at dinner.
Avatar f tn I also found Hemp Milk at Whole Foods which is completely dairy, soy and salt free, in addition to salt free soups, chicken broth and other quick prep stuff. The diet is extremely restricted, but it's only for a limited time and for a very, very good reason.
Avatar f tn There is a cookbook out there on what foods to eat to help improve fertility. I was given it by a friend. I don't remember what increased it but I do remember that it said to avoid soy and pineapple. I'll let you know the name of it when I get home tonight if you would like.
Tbd The principle of low carb diet is restricting carbs, particularly all grains, sugars, starchy veges and sweet fruits, and eating a diet that focusses more on protein, low carb plant foods (veges and non-sweet fruits), some nuts, and healthy fats. While this may sound a little intimidating it is actually pretty easy and there are lots of great recipe ideas online easily accessible. key words will be low-carb, and keto.
Avatar f tn ll have to be her choice to try new foods. All you can do is keep trying to offer new foods. Remember though, she is 11 years old and has a mind of her own. I've heard that if your body is lacking some sort of vitamin, then you'll probably crave it, once you've eaten the amount needed then your body won't crave it anymore. She must be doing well if the doctor says she is fine though. Have you ever asked the doctor about taste bud issues?
Avatar n tn Ok, I am going crazy on LID for a milk substiute. Nutty milk in LId cookbook was too chunky to qualify as milk. what about coconut milk? It seems like it is LID ok, but I'm not sure.

Avatar f tn Hi, I have been a veggie for 8 years, before I was a full-on meat eater ! And I have never had any problems at all ! No you dont need to take any tablets or pill or supplements (only vegans do). You will need to make sure you are having enough iron as meat is the main source for this. So the horror stories are probably because they didnt replace the meat- they just cut it out completely therefore no iron.
Avatar f tn I get heartburn super bad. During my last pregnancy, Zantac wouldn't work for me. I had to start taking Prilosec. It was awful, but for me, it didn't matter what I ate.
Avatar m tn For those of us taking coumadin monitoring our PT/INR (coumadin levels in the vernacular) is literally a life-or-death matter. My Dad passed away a year ago this June because he had a series of strokes due to NOT monitoring his levels (poor bugger loved salad). Unfortunately I have recently discovered that some "heart healthy" foods are really not so good for us on coumadin. Specifically cooking oils both the pourable kind and the stuff in the spray cans.
Avatar f tn I am on the Low Iodine diet for the next two weeks, I was wondering what are the Sweets that are allowed to eat, I have a terrible sweet tooth and the cookbook had no sugestions, so looking for what sweets I am allowed to have. Someone said Gummi Bears but not sure if that is true, so any suggestions would be Great.
Avatar n tn It wouldnt hurt to take a look at Jessica Seinfields cookbook called 'Deceptively Delicious' It will show you some ways to hide fruits and vegies in different foods. My kids love the brownies they have spinich leaves in them and I promise you cant even taste them, I think its great. Good Luck!!
Avatar n tn I have to go on the LID for 4-5 weeks and have been searching for an allowable milk substitute. Does anyone have any coments about Rich's Non-dairy creamer? I was hopeful about a coconut milk I found in a carton in the refrigerated section but turns out is has carageenan in it. I put sour cream, ranch dressing or have milk all the time with my foods since I am "saliva challenged" after my radiation treatments.

Avatar m tn Hi Nedos Congrats on your One Month Sober!!!!! It's great that you're getting out to a meeting everyday There's many reasons why you may be tired during the day that you can control, like your diet, how much and how you deal with stress, and how you incorporate exercise into your life. There are diseases that have fatigue as a side effect, so you need to get to your family doctor, and let them know you've been sober a month , and have them do a thorough physical.
Avatar n tn You need to be on the Low Iodine Diet. If you go to thyca.org and there is the low iodine cookbook pdf on the left hand side. Remember, it's not necessarily a no salt diet. You can have salt, just the non-iodized kind. And no sea salt. I was told to go on it a week before my treatment, which ended up being almost two weeks, because my treatment dose was given late in the week on the second week. I then had to stay on it for 48 hours afterwards. Hope that helps!
Avatar f tn I am very excited to have found this website, as I have just started a project of creating a cookbook for parents with CSID children. My son was diagnosed 3 years ago and have had to spend a lot of time adjusting his diet and learning on my own as the csid support group site is not very helpful. During the past year, I have added several supplements to my son's diet and he thriving and doing exceptionally well!
535822 tn?1443976780 Yes, that is some great cookbook! Good reminder where some past meals of mine have not turned out so well!
1156486 tn?1262394803 I will start a Iodine free diet next week in preparation for my Iodine131 treatment (for Jan. 21st) and would like to find the thyca cookbook.
