928257 tn?1296673492 food you are already ahead of the game. The bigger problem is not eating fresh foods at all and instead eating processed foods, frozen dinners, and restaurant take out. By eating fresh food at home -- be it organic or otherwise -- you can avoid salts, harmful fats, and excess sugars and maximize your intake of nutrient-dense calories. - Dr.
Avatar m tn What is that?? I am also looking for something to take when my TX is over. Someone suggested something called silymarin or milk thistle to me, but I have no idea what that is either. It is so difficult to find translations for this kind of stuff...
359142 tn?1321120923 Well, I am super excited you are trying again and know you'll be successful in no time. I can't be of much help with the supplements...I only take fish oil, prenatals, baby asprin and progesterone. I take vaginal supplements (600 mg a day..yikes) prescribed by my RE. Wish I could be more help, but you know I am rooting you on!! Great to see you back too!
Avatar n tn Also steer clear of Vit A which is toxic to the liver AND don't make my dumb mistake by thinking I needed to replace meat protein with raw protein shakes! I thought because it was to be easier to digest it would be good for me! Insult to unjury: energy bars, kefir with extra protein, od walls protein drinks.... Now I sm dealing with Lactulose and the antibiotic whose name I forget begins with an x or z...yup, I have H E!
Avatar f tn Just found out that I am anemic! They are giving me iron supplements for it but what risks are there to being anemic?
Avatar f tn I'd also recommended iron rich foods. Iron can be hard for your body to absorb in pill form, not to mention make you sick! I know that doesn't answer your question, but Google those foods.
1341943 tn?1276144290 m not sure if this is entirely true or not, but I believe foods certified organic does have more minerals nutrients than foods conventionally grown. In the book "In Defense of Food", Michael Pollan argues that you should eat foods grown organically for this very reason.
Avatar m tn Hi All, A member of our forum has just told me something that I have never heard before. And that is to make sure my hubby eats "liver friendly". What does that mean in the manner of foods to eat for a healthy liver? I know alcohol is tabu, he does not smoke but what about the foods? Does anyone have a good healthy diet for someone with hep C ? Appreciated!
Avatar n tn told me just to eat iron rich foods an take iron pills...I have symptoms i dont know the symptoms of low ironan i cannot seem to shake off feeling so bad.HOW CONCERNED SHOULD I BE?Is my DR.telling me everything to help me>?or just just seemingly pushng me off?Can they do anything faster to help me?
Avatar n tn The issues can be serious depending on the length of time and amounts the supplements were taken. From what you have stated in your question, you are at the upper limits for vitamin C and E, decrease Zinc to 40mg, and suggest not increasing the other doses. You did not state the vitamin Bs you are taking. Vitamin B6 recommended dose for Adult male is 1.3mg a day (upper limit 100mg), and Niacin 16 mg a day (upper limit 35mg).
1534656 tn?1296085070 Well, if you eat them all in one day and every day, you aren't going to get better! Iodine is high in many of the foods you list and you really don't want to over do it. You will end up with a hyper thyroid and more problems than you need. It's perfectly ok to have these things occasionally, not every day. Our bodies do need a small amount of iodine. I would certainly make sure you keep the kelp intake well down.
Avatar m tn I am trying to find vitamins/supplements other than what I take with Lithium. I take Centrum Multi-Vitamin, Omega Fish Oil 3000 MG, Choline (new to me), and Super-B Complex. What other vitamins/supplements work best with you all that take Lithium? What about Echinacea, Chromium Polynicotinate, Selenium, Calcium (which one), Taurine, and Potassium Gluconate? I pulled these vitamin/supplement names off of a patient's chart from another mood tracking website.
Avatar f tn Diet is also very important for this particular problem, more so than supplements. I would particularly investigate super foods such as spirulina and bee pollen for energy and detoxification, and adaptogenic herbs to help with the adrenals such as the ginsengs and such. Which ones, however, will depend on your mental state.
4250330 tn?1388621179 Hi, I was told I was anemic today and I was wondering what could make my iron go up fast I've been super dizzy super tired and everything and I have anxiety really bad due to this and idk what foods I can eat or anything can anyone else
Avatar f tn ve read, like OTC thyroid supplements, OTC adrenal supplements are not allowed to have measurable hormones in them. They merely have ground up animal adrenal tissue, with no actual hormones. Their benefit would questionable, at best. IMO, you'd be much better off to check with your health food store or someone at Whole Foods and ask them about adaptogens, which are herbs that adapt to the needs of your body.
Avatar f tn I am using Omega 3,6,9 oil, probiotics, magnesium and B vit supplements. My son is improving, but I can't say it is down to these suppliments. This are just things that have been recommended by a nutricianist. But if I have not given him these things for a couple of days he usually seems more 'spaced out' than usual. On top of that I try to give him a wide variety of good quality foods. I tend to cook most days.
Avatar m tn Instead of going for supplements, try eating Fish like sardines, mackeral & salmon which are rich in Omega 3 fats & lowers LDL/Triglycerides & increases HDL. You can also eat walnuts & Flakseed. These have worked wonders for me. I had a CABG done 4 months ago and I have made sure that my HDL & LDL levels are with the required parameters.
Avatar f tn I am overwieght, I would like to lead a vegitarian lifestyle, but everytime I cut meats out I gain wieght and become tired and super emotional. I supplement with protien in the form of eggs, peanut butter, and legumes but that does not seem to help. Any suggestions, I would really like to stop killing animals for my own purpose, but i would also like to be able to get through a day without loads of caffiene and B supplements in the form of energy drinks too.
Avatar m tn This sounds like a question asked in a different forum, but the real question to be answered is, why are you taking creatine? I believe when this question was asked before, one responder mentioned one person suffered anxiety after taking it. Not much of a sample, but the only reason to take creatine, really, is if you're competing professionally and this will help you to do better.
Avatar m tn I am active (exercise almost daily), eat very healthy (fruits, veggies, no processed foods, no sugar, low salt), and take supplements (multivitamin w/no iron, glucosamine, quercetin, ginkgo, l-glutamine, omega-3 fish oil). I also have protein shakes made from whey or casein when I work out.
Avatar f tn I get heartburn super bad. During my last pregnancy, Zantac wouldn't work for me. I had to start taking Prilosec. It was awful, but for me, it didn't matter what I ate.
Avatar n tn What are the best foods to eat,and what supplements if any replace fruits and vegetables
Avatar f tn In this book it tells you what foods to eat and stay away from as well as supplements that you should take to help hyperthyroidism.
Avatar f tn Sorry my phone acted up. What I was saying was developing properly and all the organs are functioning. When you meet with the nurse they just ask you medical questions of you and your family and see if you have any questions. The glucose test is when you drink this sugary drink and then you wait an hour and they take a blood sample and it's to see how well you pass sugar. They may also test your iron.
