464054 tn?1223826633 Hi there, Women having a stroke are more likely to delay seeking treatment than their male counterparts. There is this recent study that looked at the medical records of women treated in an emergency room. Among women who were later treated for stroke, the study showed that many of them reported symptoms that were different from the typical stroke symptoms.
Avatar n tn I went to the PCP and Neurologist two days later and had an MRI 5 days later and they saw a stroke in the cerebellum and signs of a mini stroke that they classified as 'old'. I fortunately did not have ongoing loss of speech, or weakness in limbs etc...but have suffered from weird dizziness and electric shock feelings in my head. They seem to get better - but then get wrose again....Dr's are saying it is maybe anxiety --but is not. I have had anxiety before and these are different.
Avatar f tn The men were as likely as the women to become depressed with marital strain, but the link between negativity, depression and metabolic syndrome only applied to women, she said. The depression in women accounted for the metabolic syndrome, she said. Exactly why isn't known, but Henry speculated that women may take the negativity more to heart and ruminate about it more than men. Henry can't say specifically how much risk of metabolic syndrome is attributed to the negativity.
Avatar n tn first and foremost it does sound like a stroke ( my grandmother had quite a few so I know the signs) Second and most important I believe if I read correclty you are on the pill. The pill can cause strokes. Please please go to your GYN and get off them. Ask your GYN for referalls about any testing you can have. Get copies of all your films and reports as with the incompetentancy of the medical profession films can be read wrong. But please look into the pill.

Avatar n tn Hi I am 21yrs old and recently suffered a (clot) stroke (3 months ago). I went in to see my Dr today and he said I can try for a baby in the new year. Please, I would really like to hear from everyone who had a baby post stroke, good or bad.
Avatar n tn My mom had good health and no warning signs before the stroke, not even a headache, my dad found her this way mid-morning. The neurosurgeon did not offer much hope for us to survive the stroke nor in her recovery. She has already beat the odds. My mom was in ICU for 3 weeks and step-down 1 week and in rehab hospital for two months now. I have come to learn the dr.'s don't like or really now prognosis on recovery because everyone recovers differently.
299260 tn?1304219705 But normally all my AF pain is in my lower back. It's a trait in my family. All the women have 100% back labor and we all have back cramps during AF. Weird. But this time my lower back is sore... but not cramping. All my cramps are just little twinge cramps in my abdomen. Way low, so I know it's not my stomach. So I don't know what that's about yet. We'll see in a few days. We're supposed to test on Sunday. Not much longer to wait now!

Transient ischemic attacks (TIAs) are "warning strokes" that produce stroke-like symptoms but no lasting damage. TIAs are strong predictors of stroke.
Avatar n tn and that abortion or the EC would greatly reduce the chance that she could get pregnant in the future etc (again, all of my research says nothing about EC/Abortion making it harder for women to get preg, but who knows - def could be true given her history/cancer). I hope I don't sound like a jerk for saying so, but I am a (semi)young man and not looking for anything with this woman and not ready to be a dad - so I made it very clear to her that I would not be ok with her having the baby...

Avatar n tn It is so rare for heart attacks or stroke to occur. If a heart attack does occur, what better place to be? I had severe disease in 2 arteries, and I mean severe. I've had 8 procedures in one leg, and one in the other. I've never had any problem. If there is a problem in a procedure, it's more than likely going to be due to human error. All my procedures have been performed at a training/research hospital and a consultant is always in the room watching carefully.
