stroke

Avatar m tn This morning I was hugging my girlfriend and suddenly her right leg gave out and she dropped her car keys out of her right hand. She was then dizzy for about 5 seconds and was fine after. She has been fine all day. She ears healthy and wirks out 4-5 days a week. Any input as to what would cause this would be deeply appreciated. My first thought was "mini stroke" but she has no symptoms. Thank you fir help!
Avatar m tn It is so frustrating when it does not show up on your MRI and one place tells you possible mini stroke and you go the next time and they transfer you to a different hospital and they do test afterwards and then say it's not a mini stroke because there is no evidence on the test so it must be symptomatic or stress. I am not stressed and i had one of the best days of the month when this happened.
Avatar f tn doctors think My mom had a mini stroke at age 45, my grandmother on my moms side had diabetes and two heart attacks..last one killed her. My dad had a two heart attacks in his 50's, survived both. all are smokers and obese. My sister had healthy no complications in her pregnancy.
Avatar f tn Is it possible that without me realizing it that I may have had a mini stroke and not know it or am I over reacting? Since then my blood pressure has been 150/90.
Avatar f tn in the sense of symptoms of a stroke and stroke warning as signs of a pathology that could lead eventually to a stroke. the only way that could indicate higher risk of stroke is that it was caused by a vascular problem, but you should have a bit more going on I guess. it also depends on your age. maybe it was caused by sudden sun exposure. why are you worried about having a stroke, do you have other symptoms? is there someone in your family who's had a stroke?
Avatar n tn My 86 year old mother just came out of the hospital on Friday after being in for ten days due to a "mini-stroke" (TIA). It was the fifth one she has had since suffering a major stroke in 2007. Tonight she started bleeding; not heavy but enough to saturate her Depends underwear. I have noticed some very light spotting in the past, but only about once a month. The cause of this is puzzling me. I guess the doctor needs to be seen. Any advice?
Avatar f tn Well I went to the doctor today he said he definitely thought I had a mini stroke. I go in next week for an mri and blood work. Since I am 19 and this is so unusual he thinks it was caused by my birth control and suggest I stop taking it.
Avatar f tn I believe that the greatest risk is your likelihood of a full blown stroke, which of course can be life threatening. A TIA (mini stroke) is usually considered a warning sign by Doctors that something needs to be addressed. I assume they have given you medication to help lower the risk of a clot forming? such as aspirin?
Avatar f tn I have a friend who is in his 20s and was sent home ill from work vomiting and with a terrible headache, dizzyness and other symptoms. Even slurred speech and not remembering words. His doctor told him he had a virus and sent him home. A few days later his mother was ill with the same virus and went to hospital as she was ill. He ddin't go to hospital however as he didn't want to go. But after 2 and a half weeks of him being ill, he had enough and went to the hospital on Friday.
6359965 tn?1393488636 I am 44 yrs old and have had 2 TIA's and a moderate stroke from the past 4 months. I had an ocular stroke initially and had a moderate stroke and I was in MICU and lost feeling on my left side..and lost movement in my leg. I had rehab for that...your question of headaches hits home for me. I have headaches all the time, every day. that's usually a sign my blood pressure is elevated. since these mini strokes, I noticed i have a lot more headaches.
Avatar f tn The EKG, CT-Scan and blood work all came back normal and later during the week, so did the ultrasound on my neck arteries and the echo on my heart. My internist said it could be a mini-stroke but the symptoms persist a week later, with complete numbness of the tongue and lips. He told me it might be a side effect of my anti-depressant, Pristiq, and has taken the dose down from 100mg to 50mg. I am to report in next week to let him know what my symptoms are doing.
Avatar n tn   I was just wondering, what do you do during a mini stroke? Do you get up and start walking around to get the blood flow going, (that's what I do), or do you sit down and relax? It's crazy that this mini stroke came back into my life! I had it come and go for about six months when I was younger back in 2006. When it happened back then, my whole right side of my body was paralyzed.
Avatar f tn are ct scans any use at all and if it was mini stroke would it not have shown something.
Avatar f tn Hello I was wondering if anyone who has had a mini stroke experinisesed this Wed at 1 am I got up to use the rest roomand all of sudden I had a change feeling in the front of my head and then I has a really warm feeling go from glad bladder area to my stomach to rush through my body and then my right eye had a hard time focusing in the dark so I turned the light in and looked in the mirror and my right eye sight was blurring and my right pupil was dilating weird.

Avatar m tn I am 78 and had a mini stroke 11 Jun 2014. I was placed in the hospital for overnight observation and was released the following day to my family doctor. I have high blood pressure so he placed me on Exforge 10-325-25mg HCT and also Clopidogrel 75mg In the hospital I had a MRA, MRI, CATSCAN, Chest Xray and several blood tests. I lost peripheral vision in the left eye. When I left the hospital I had this slight lump across from my left ear about 1 inch long pointing to the top of my head.
Avatar n tn If there are neurological symptoms persisting for more than 24 hours, it is classified as a cerebrovascular accident, or stroke. You have to be alert and followup your doctor regularly, take youe medicines control your cholesterol and blood pressure levels, as weakness of your muscles may precipitate a stoke.
Avatar f tn They last about 20 minutes. Blood tests, CT scans, and mri/mra showed no signs of a stroke. Experts said these episodes could have been mini strokes. The neurologists said they could have been seizures. Every time I sneeze I'm so afraid that it will happen again. Does any one have any idea of what is causing this problem?
1384238 tn?1286028762 I do not think a pinched nerve is going to make you feel woozy! Since you've apparently already had some heart problems, I'd go back to whomever provided your care when you went thru your arterial crisis and they can do tests to determine if it is indeed a clog in the vessel or whatever.
Avatar n tn Husband woke up with dizziness, vertigo, vomiting at 3 AM last week. B/P 225/120 ER said he did not have a stroke ( according to CT scan. Can't do MRI due to stents which he got for a 95% blockage to his heart 4 yrs ago.) Cardiologist switched BP meds and B/P going down well on that now.He' still very fatigued, difficulty with spacial perception, walking etc...The Nuero Doc can't see him till May 1st. Any idea what's up with all of this and what kind of treatment we should pursue?
Avatar m tn Earlier today she suddenly felt numbness on her left side and started to have some trouble speaking and her mouth suddenly changed form and was almost like her tongue did not respond for a some minutes. At the first sign, I immediately called emergency services. An ambulance then came within 10 minutes and 5 minutes after the paramedic started asking questions/diagnosing etc. she started to feel almost OK. He called the hospital anyways and they asked him to take her over there.
