Avatar m tn This morning I was hugging my girlfriend and suddenly her right leg gave out and she dropped her car keys out of her right hand. She was then dizzy for about 5 seconds and was fine after. She has been fine all day. She ears healthy and wirks out 4-5 days a week. Any input as to what would cause this would be deeply appreciated. My first thought was "mini stroke" but she has no symptoms. Thank you fir help!

Avatar f tn Is it possible that without me realizing it that I may have had a mini stroke and not know it or am I over reacting? Since then my blood pressure has been 150/90.
Avatar f tn in the sense of symptoms of a stroke and stroke warning as signs of a pathology that could lead eventually to a stroke. the only way that could indicate higher risk of stroke is that it was caused by a vascular problem, but you should have a bit more going on I guess. it also depends on your age. maybe it was caused by sudden sun exposure. why are you worried about having a stroke, do you have other symptoms? is there someone in your family who's had a stroke?
Avatar f tn I believe that the greatest risk is your likelihood of a full blown stroke, which of course can be life threatening. A TIA (mini stroke) is usually considered a warning sign by Doctors that something needs to be addressed. I assume they have given you medication to help lower the risk of a clot forming? such as aspirin?
Avatar f tn I know something was happening but just not sure what. Some people said it could be a mini stroke. Has anyone dealt with this before?
Avatar f tn Often oxygen-rich blood cannot be supplied adequately to the brain, causing the symptoms of a mini stroke. In severe cases, increased pressure can cause the arteries in the brain to rupture and cause a hemorrhagic (bleed) stroke. All the best to your mom http://www.savingthebrain.
Avatar f tn The EKG, CT-Scan and blood work all came back normal and later during the week, so did the ultrasound on my neck arteries and the echo on my heart. My internist said it could be a mini-stroke but the symptoms persist a week later, with complete numbness of the tongue and lips. He told me it might be a side effect of my anti-depressant, Pristiq, and has taken the dose down from 100mg to 50mg. I am to report in next week to let him know what my symptoms are doing.
Avatar n tn   I was just wondering, what do you do during a mini stroke? Do you get up and start walking around to get the blood flow going, (that's what I do), or do you sit down and relax? It's crazy that this mini stroke came back into my life! I had it come and go for about six months when I was younger back in 2006. When it happened back then, my whole right side of my body was paralyzed.
Avatar f tn Although a stroke can manifest as a transient visual disturbance, that is relatively unusual. But something is going on, and you best have it checked out. Anything having to do with vision is VERY important. You cannot be turned down for medical assistance in the event of possible blindness because of financial reasons. If it happens? Good! Take them to court! (Just make sure that you sue for the cost of a chauffer).
Avatar f tn are ct scans any use at all and if it was mini stroke would it not have shown something.
Avatar m tn I am 78 and had a mini stroke 11 Jun 2014. I was placed in the hospital for overnight observation and was released the following day to my family doctor. I have high blood pressure so he placed me on Exforge 10-325-25mg HCT and also Clopidogrel 75mg In the hospital I had a MRA, MRI, CATSCAN, Chest Xray and several blood tests. I lost peripheral vision in the left eye. When I left the hospital I had this slight lump across from my left ear about 1 inch long pointing to the top of my head.
Avatar f tn They last about 20 minutes. Blood tests, CT scans, and mri/mra showed no signs of a stroke. Experts said these episodes could have been mini strokes. The neurologists said they could have been seizures. Every time I sneeze I'm so afraid that it will happen again. Does any one have any idea of what is causing this problem?
Avatar n tn Hello dear, You probably had a Transient Ischaemic Attack or a mini stroke caused by the temporary disturbance of blood supply to a restricted area of the brain, resulting in brief neurologic dysfunction that usually persists for less than 24 hours. The most frequent symptoms include temporary loss of vision ; difficulty speaking (aphasia); weakness on one side of the body (hemiparesis); and numbness or tingling (paresthesia), usually on one side of the body.
Avatar n tn I'm glad your husband's BP is coming down. I am not a doctor, so I have no idea what could have happened. Maybe a mini-stroke? I just don't know, sorry. Was he on BP meds BEFORE this happened? What is he taking now? I'll keep him in my prayers...
1384238 tn?1286028762 Well...finally got the heart beating right, no pun intended, but now I have an interesting issue, ready? Since last week I get intermittent tinglish, numbness on left side of face, some weakness in my left arm, feel woozy, can hear, speak, understand, etc. My doc thinks it may be a pinched nerve. Going to have a carotid doppler next week. I'm worried it may be mini-strokes or something like that (I have HBP), she says she doubts it, but will check everything. I am so sick of being sick.
Avatar m tn although she seemed to have suffered a mini stroke (although doctors did not say this exactly), is there anything we can do to make sure this does not happen again? She is slightly overweight with a BMI of 27-28, and for the past weeks we have started to exercise more than before to become healthier... We eat generally good and a well balanced diet, but I am trying to make her completely quit food high in fat/sugars.
Avatar n tn Doctors now do not believe I had a mini stroke as it was never recorded at the hospital..... Is it possible these symptoms were from something else or was it probably a misdiagnosis due to me being a young male (22 years old).

Avatar m tn You need to be investigated for hypertension, hyperlipidemia or hypercoagulability. These are warning signs of an impending stroke and need to be treated carefully to avoid permanent neurological deficit from a stroke. Hope this helps. Take care.
Avatar f tn s talk about the differences between a TIA and a Stroke. A TIA or transient ischemic attack is also known as a mini stroke.
