Sneezing out your brain

Common Questions and Answers about Sneezing out your brain

sneeze

2083688 tn?1334605261 can send bacteria or a virus into your brain. Your brain is heavily protected from outside invaders and it takes them coming in from the bloodstream to affect your brain. When you hold a sneeze your larynx closes cutting off the air flow to your nose/sinuses causing the sneeze. This would cause your diaphragm and stomach to "jump". Sneezes are not mainly caused by infection of the nose. They're from dust, pollen, and other general irritants we encounter through our day.
425312 tn?1279969779 congrats on your day 20 ! you should be proud of yourself... I'm giggling at your sneezing fit, sorry... since I got clean I can't help but laugh alot... wondering if I'm going slowly nuts or forgetting that I was this way prior to the meds !! I don't think the methadone can get out of your body through sneezing but I can tell you that it's perfectly normal.. I sneezed and sneezed as well and I still have moments of sneezing bouts, so you're not alone Skippy !!!
645800 tn?1466864555 I've been having a problem with sneezing for quite a while now. I'll have fits where I'll constantly sneeze for 15 - 20 minutes at a time. The sneezing fits happen for no apparent reason and throughout the year and almost daily. Nothing that I have tried seems to help at all. My doctors have also tried various things to help with this (Nasal sprays, allergy medications, etc.).
Avatar f tn Sneezing can trigger muscle spasms and aggravate pinched nerves, both of which may result in pain and discomfort. However it is unlikely to affect the brain. Your symptoms could be due to allergic rhinitis, here the symptoms are similar to a common cold, but they are usually more persistent and show seasonal variation. The individual responds to an allergen, which can be in many forms like dust and household mites. It appears that you are suffering from such a phenomenon.
Avatar n tn I don't think meningitis takes so long to surface. I have not got Brain MRI done yet. I want your advice on this. Please tell if I could be a Meningitis patient??? Or is there any other serious disease I may be suffering from??? How can I sneeze when the sensation is their??? I do not want to suppress the sneezing sensation but want to sneeze when the sensation is there.
Avatar n tn HI....well your doing really well sleeping for 12 days out ...as for the sneezing it just part of the withdrawal it lasted around 3 weeks for me if i remember right hows your energy?? anyway good to see you posting keep us up to date......
Avatar f tn Chalk us up to the "sneezing akita" also! My akita (purebred) ALWAYS sneezes when he's "happy" or excited. He only does it when he's up close to us getting rubbed. He's done it all his life. Thank goodness it's not "wet" sneezes! It's doesn't bother us (other than we don't know what causes it) and he doesn't seem to have any negative affects from it. So... "shower" us with love!
Avatar m tn Do you have any clicking or popping with your jaw on that side? Also, since you are sneezing more often, I think it may be a good idea to visit an allergist who can try to figure out what you might be allergic to that you are being exposed to. The sneezing doesn't come on when you are in the sunshine does it? I have that happen sometimes.
Avatar f tn Hello All Question: I am 6wks preg ( 3rd after 2 mc ). I am constantly sneezing and my nose is so stuffy i need to invest in a tissue company, i am blowing my nose like every 5 min. I know it's not a cold because i have no aches and no cough or sore throuhgt. I looked on line, but nothing to say these were signs of pregnancy. Also, my boobs are killing me, like i can't wait to take off the bra after all day. When should i notice a change in size.
Avatar n tn Now neither trouble me very badly, antihistamine can sort it out. But like all of you I suffer from horrid sneezing episodes. Last time it happened I sneezed so hard that I pulled a muscle in my abdomen. It sounds funny now, but at the time (and while still sneezing) it was unbearable! I wish there was an explanation out there.
572651 tn?1531002957 Lu, you are right that the pain is in your scalp rather than your brain. I get many odd zaps of pain and have always assumed they were some sort of paresthesia.
Avatar n tn If one thinks about sneezing then the automatic, brain controlled sneezing relex is interrupted. It's like inhibiting any reflex by being self conscious about it. I am a 57 year old man in excellent health. Every sufferer I've heard of who has this very rare sneezing problem seems to be in good health with no related medical problems discovered after evaluation and testing by every type of Doctor. Almost no one seems to know about this very rare malady.
Avatar m tn Did the frequency of your sneezing ease up over time during that month?
598514 tn?1285753194 Even typing this a part of my brain is screaming SHUT UP! Back in early June we took a trip and I used 70 norc's in a 2 day period. I was shocked when the bottle was empty and I could'nt remember a gosh darn thing about the trip. So I decided to go "cold turkey" even with a script waiting for me at walgreens. I made it 4 days. While trying to keep busy and my mind off of the craving I went mountain biking and shattered my colar bone.
682891 tn?1226696230 Wow, that is strange. Then I would say try to control the sneezing. Do you have allergies? Maybe get that checked out.
Avatar f tn I am suffering from what I believe are "brain zaps". Some times it feels like my brain is being zapped and at other times my vision reminds me of when you tried to adjust the horizontal and vertical on the old black and white tv's where the screen would just flip. My vision becomes distorted. We thought it may be blood pressure but this was ruled out. I do not drink, smoke or use drugs.
Avatar n tn I thank you for your honest opinion. What are the odds of Brain tumor in people?
Avatar n tn Trying to figure if problems ae heart? Brain? or both? It first began with me hearing my pulses in my ear. I lost alot of weight and my MD says the auditory nerve is very close to cartoid artery so it picks up pulses. Sometimes pulses are stronger and annoying. I'm 68 yr male, have had all blood work all ok. No procedure to remove this sound but there are other occurrances...sometimes, heart will begin to beat at double its rate and last for hours, even if I am sitting and relaxing.
Avatar m tn However, that has died down in the past few years, as my overactive brain seemed to calm down as I gained confidence. This all took a turn during my freshman year in college, when I met this girl that I began talking to. I've dated girls before, but this was different and everything I ever wanted, if I could even know what I truly want at the age of 19. Long story short, things went south and we stopped our relationship.
Avatar m tn Hi. From what you have described, it seems that this problem is mostly stress or anxiety related, as these could really heighten our perception of pain and fatigue. Adequate rest and recreation can help in easing these symptoms. Another possibility is migraine, which can be treated with standard medications as well as lifestyle changes/ modifications (like lowering stress levels).
Avatar n tn I would say you should print this out and show this to your doctor, but to me and I am by no means in a medical field, it seems that it is a psychological/brain problem and some medications should help you a great amount... no need to suffer.
Avatar n tn Two of these three same nerves also send other branches to the throat and are involved in triggering the cough reflex, gag reflex, and to a lesser extent actual sneezing. So there is at least a small theoretical basis to support your observations.
Avatar n tn Then I went in to my doctor a couple of months ago to find out about muscle relaxers for my neck because it was causing problems and then he quizzed me about other things like pins and needles poking me, and intolerance to temperature. I was also having pains in my foot at the time. So I had xrays done on my feet and a MRI done on my spine and my brain. They also drew a lot of blood to test for other autoimmune disorders like lupus and RA, and those all came back negative.
310397 tn?1193971582 I'm 105 hours cold turkey and feeling pretty good - achy feeling is back to what I know to be normal for rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia symptoms that I expected, creepy crawlies have pretty much subsided, and chills / sweats have much tamed down. Of course I'm still sneezing my brains out. Suggestions & comments are welcomed and desired. TMTC Ahhhhh-Cho!
Avatar f tn I am back to posting as I do think it helps me. Why do you think your positivity bothers anyone? Being positive is what helps your brain to heal and keeps the depression at bay. When I began my detox I made it through each day by telling myself that I made it through another day. It wasn't till I got to the three month mark and found myself in a hole. The depression took over and my recovery seemed to have stopped.
889557 tn?1260154405 Until one of our arms falls off or our brain is physically leaking out of our ears, I think a lot of people won't understand or even try. Also, I agree with starbunny. Since I don't have full blown "mania" in that I'm not spending all of our money and swinging from the rafters all the time, or such terrible depression that I don't sleep for a few days, some people dismiss that I have something wrong.
Avatar f tn Working out and exercising is the best thing you can do to fire up the brain. Redirecting your self is always a great thing. Keep it up and let us know how it goes.
Avatar f tn Congrats on making this decision to get clean. Withdrawls are nothing to be afraid of. You will be sick for at least 5 days, very sick. It will be like a really, really bad flu. But you won't die. You may feel like it or want to, but you won't. And whats 5 or so days compared to a life time of hell? Check out the Thomas recipe, it will help. Around day 5 you'll start to feel better, your head will be clearing and you'll find yourself laughing again.
Avatar m tn You really need to keep a copy of all your medical records!!!! Does coughing, laughing or sneezing ever cause your head to hurt? You might want to see if your MRI report says anything about Chiari. Even a low grade Chiari can cause pain and balance issues. Chiari is where the cerebellar tonsils of the brain are extending into your spinal cord region. You may want to look that up on the computer to see if that explains any of your symptoms. Just a thought.
