seroquel

654560 tn?1331854581 Its entirely possible to be Bipolar and fit all of the symptoms of unipolar depression and more so if depression is your most common state - major depressive episodes happen to many many bipolar's during their lives - my last one lasted nearly 3 years for example. Now I am not a doctor ok but your medications are interesting to me. You take Lithium which is a mood stabiliser and its effective on both phases; you take Seroquel which is another mood stabiliser - is this for sleep?
Avatar m tn bipolar disorder, which looks very much like unipolar depression in that these people have only very slight, almost unnoticable, manic phases that go undignosed - in other words, there is a spectrum of bipolar disorders, some with a greater degree of mania, other with a greater degree of depression, and many in between. And since their clinical presentations are very similar, people with soft bipolar disorder are sometimes misdiagnosed with unipolar depression.
Avatar f tn It does sound confusing, so ask the doctor that diagnosed you to explain exactly why they think you have bipolar depression instead of unipolar depression. Good luck!
Avatar n tn After reading all the posts I am surprised no one pointed out that fear is not common for depression or unipolar. In my case, I am Bi Polar and it took many years for doctors to realize that I had anxiety ( attacks) also. A small dose of Buspar takes care of that now. I still feel worried at times but it doesn't overwhelm me or distract me from my normal activities. Ask your doc if it is possible you have anxiety. Any alcohol will interfer with your meds and can send you downward.
Avatar f tn Have you considered trying abilify or seroquel? They are atypical antipsychotics that get used as add ons for unipolar depression, and are used for mood stabilization in bipolar. You could try an SNRI like effexor if you haven't tried that class yet, or maybe wellbutrin (although this could worsen your anxiety). There's also remeron, which can sometimes help when nothing else seems to.
Avatar f tn i have suffered with anxiety and depression for over 30 years. i have been on valium for 10 years. it helped the anxiety but not the depression. last week my stress was so high i felt like a nervous breakdown. my dr. prescribed seroquel 25 to 50 mg five days ago. for the first time i do not feel dpressed or anxiety. i stopped taking the valium when i started the seroquel. my valium has been a very high dose 60mg a day. will i get withdrawl symptoms from stopping the valium?
1027444 tn?1255203218 Could I be going through mania as well as depression rite now? I feel so hyper and up I can't even sleep and it's 1 o clock in the morning but I feel like crying and just giving up all together I can't stop pacing back in forth in my room and the smallest things make me wanna throw my tv out the window I already thru my phone at the wall I can't think clearly so I play music really loudly to drown my own thoughts any suggestions what do I do?
Avatar n tn Cymbalta can work wonders for some people that have depression. It's one of the more stimulating meds though. Seroquel used to be used more for bi-polar but is being used more often now for depression. Did your Dr explain why they wanted you to take this med combo? I do agree with SassyLassie. Call the pharmacy because they'll know if you can takes these meds together safely.
Avatar m tn many of the epilespy meds are used as mood stabiliers in bipolar but not in unipolar depression .Usually two or three weeks to start to kick in , keep a mood diary to get a more objective than subjective effect .
574118 tn?1305135284 t give himself a chance of reflexions to check whether this is unipolar depression or bipolar one, so the automatic response for the 5 minutes meeting with him is to write to you an antidepressant. If you are lucky he may add an AP to cover it up. If not, he drives you manic so when you go to see him again he labels you with BP. Of course the symptoms get worse.
Avatar m tn Hi, I noticed that no one had answered you yet, perhaps it is because there may be no clear cut answer to your question. I am sorry that you are suffering from recurrent depression. I do as well. Has your doctor talked to you about any of the various "bipolar" issues? The classic "bipolar" or "manic-depression" illness has alternating moods of depression and high-euphoria.
Avatar f tn [citation needed] Lamotrigine has been studied as an adjunctive therapy for treatment of refractory unipolar depression, attaining efficacy on the secondary metric for treatment outcomes (Clinical Global Impressions), but not the primary metrics (Montgomery-Åsberg Depression Rating Scale and Hamilton Rating Scale for Depression).
Avatar f tn s mad that pdocs discover that a person has BP at that age. Could she have unipolar depression only or she had mania before. is the pdoc you saw is not a GP because some doctors write all types of drugs they think they will eventually changes the person attitude and activities, sometimes they write useless drugs.
Avatar f tn I take it at night. I don't fall asleep easily and I oversleep. Wierd. It does help but have anxiety, oversleep, late to work, sexual side effects (typical though), and anxiety. One doc said I'm unipolar and should try just Lamictal which I had no anxiety or depression, but cried alot and got angry easily.
1039200 tn?1314912008 Seroquel working as a mood stabilizer should treat depression. I believe that I experienced some minor depression when I was on Seroquel but that's not that common. It definitely should treat paranoia as that's part of psychosis in general.
574118 tn?1305135284 depression 300 mg mania or schizophrenia 800 mg My question would be is whether the potency chart you linked to is only for psychotic/delusional symptoms or also for depression, as some are also used for depression, Seroquel and Ability, for example. May I ask the reason you take the Seroquel? Also, who here takes the Seroquel specifically for depression and what there dose is?
Avatar n tn should i stop taking the wellbutrin for depression and increase my dosage of seroquel xr to 300-400mg?
919239 tn?1269394658 I was hoping that this medication may be helpful for depression alone. Anyone who takes Seroquel that can give me some insight will be much appreciated.
1075007 tn?1255646051 I am currently taking 1mg of Klonipin, 20mg Ambien, 200mg Nortriptyline and 50mg Seroquel. Pharmacist are just can't believe that I take that much every night. I find myself waking up, getting out of bed and my legs are like jello. I cannot walk, I fall on things and actually get hurt. When I get up the next morning I see bruises all over me. I want to stop taking any of those so I guess I need to wing myself off. If I miss one day, I am so disoriented it is horrible.
574118 tn?1305135284 this question is stupid because any illness is bad, even a strong headache can make you wish to die. What I meant in terms of therapy. I mean a person having unipolar depression is difficult to treat than a person having unipolar mania. Mania harms the brain and is the cause of the kindling effect, there is no kindling effect I suppose in depression; meaning after every depressive episode the next one is worse. I read often that mania stops itself eventually even if untreated.
874521 tn?1424116797 s depression which is responsible for the acknowledged 20% mortality in BP whether in BP1 or 2 especially the latter very pronounced. Now lamictal is good for depression so is seroquel which is often used as a monotherapy because it has an antidepressant effect. In mania seroquel is best, don't say lithium or tegretol, remember that in lithium NOT only drink a lot of water but plenty of water with flush it out, too cumbersome. Seroquel is best.
Avatar f tn Hello, If you are wondering if you're Bipolar purely based on mood swings, I'd say it's probably Unipolar or some other form of depression. However, it really depends on what you mean by "mood swings" that could mean so many different sorts of emotions that you "swing" from, which makes it difficult to pin point Bipolar purely on that. However...
574118 tn?1305135284 Depakote is bad for weight gain Really my question was WHETHER reducing the seroquel combat depression or increasing it combat depression. This is my REAL question.
