Seroquel for sleeping

Common Questions and Answers about Seroquel for sleeping

seroquel

Avatar m tn If this is the case, then it is in my opinion not a bad choice, though some would argue there are better(safer) options due to the risk factors involved with the class of drugs to which Seroquel belongs. There are a number of other(*safer*) drugs that are being prescribed for sleeping issues which includes antihistamines such as Atarax/ Hydroxyzine or Phenergan/Promethazine or small doses of tricyclic drugs like Doxepin/Sinequan, Mianserin/Tolvon and many more.
Avatar f tn everything I was having trouble sleeping so my friend gave me seraquil. . Took it for 3 1/2  weeks straight I have been with out it for 2 days & the hot & cold flashes are coming back, can't slEep at all. . Puking. . Ughh . . Please help me with idea's. .
1255936 tn?1296623461 What is the dose for treatment of such disorders and not just a low dose for sleeping? I hear 25mg is really not high enough to be effective for GAD or anything else other than a sleeping aid (why anyone would take a anti-psych for a sleep aid is beyond me). I hear that 200-300 mg is the dose for treating GAD, BP, and depression. I will be seeing my doc tomorrow to discuss increasing the dosage. Any input from anyone on the "front lines" would be awesome! Cheers!
Avatar m tn I feel a little like the odd man out writing this. I have taken seroquel for years (100mg.) for sleep and have no trouble at all. In fact I feel worse if I don't take it. After a couple of days I just don't sleep. I also take a 25mg. dose as needed to help with my panic attacks, and anxiety.
Avatar f tn s in the long run but the effect can be masked while it is occuring and should not be given for assistance with sleeping for this reason. Lunesta and Rozerem are known sleep aides that are safe and effective and can be taken every day especially Rozerem which is derived from Melatonin and helps regulate the sleep cycle.
Avatar m tn After my reply I looked up seroquel. I didn't recognize the brand name and assumed it was a "simple" sleeping pill, I see it is not. Still, I think a half dose is better than none. It would be better to telephone your doctor's office and tell them you are about out of the medication and need at least a minimum refill so you can make it to the appointment date on the 8th without running out of your necessary prescription.
1349329 tn?1276985202 My Dr. has prescribed a low dose of Seroquel for me to help with sleep while I'm detoxing. I did an internet search for information and found a website that sells this Medication and you don't need a prescription. I'm going copy and past what it says about how to take it etc., Read everything it says, it is "Totally Crazy." Drug Name Seroquel (Quetiapine) Drug Uses Seroquel is masterpiece for treating schizophrenia or bipolar boisterousness.
Avatar m tn I actually got my primary physician to prescribe it to me for sleeping & my directions were as needed. I've ALWAYS had sleep problems. I could wake up at 7 am & not go to sleep that night til 4 am. & still wake up the same time again. Granted if I do that a couple days in a row it would catch up with me.
16773127 tn?1451336964 I also need Seroquel to sleep decently (have been an insomniac since childhood), and it would be the perfect medication for insomnia if not for the weight gain problem. To make things worse, a few years ago I was also on Abilify. I was fat and happy for a while there. When the doctor changed & took me off the Abilify, I was astonished that I lost about 20 pounds without changing anything.
766412 tn?1234893283 When I was taking seroquel, (quetiapine), I found it to be a really stabilising drug, I didn't have any real extremes of mood, and weirdly, never cried. My only problems were that I got very tired at times, and often got cramps in my legs, but after awhile taking it those things became less harsh. Good luck with it.
Avatar m tn I have been prescribed seroquel "off-label" for sleep for a long time, but I dont like being on it because it really is powerful like being hit with a jackhammer and is hard to shake off the next day. It has a hangover effect. But it is the only thing that has worked for me with my sleep problems thus i have stayed on it. Also the side effects of weight gain and some other negative side effects are the reason I would love to get off of it.
Avatar f tn Yeah I feel u to I have a hard time sleeping I have to use. Seroquel to go to sleep and I been on that for 7 years and I can't get off of it. and since I'm pregnant they do not want me to take it. on thinking of how am I going to sleep without the medication. and I always worry that I'm going to die one day cause of my panic attacks.
Avatar n tn So i am day 10 of being sober off of a 6 year vicodin habit of 40 tabs of 750mg a day and cant get more than 3 hours of sleep a night. I just got a script from my doc for Seroquel and he says it will help with my sleep and anxiety. But he says it will be about 3-4 days of feeling pretty poor. I am feeling better every day and the last thing i want to do is go through 4 days of feeling like c r a p. I have tried Lunesta, melatonin and benadryl with no luck.
1538831 tn?1294199202 Yea, she told me that in very low dose like 25 mg it is used to treat sleeping problems, and i havent been sleeping well at all, so im going to try it .Atleast For a little and see how it helps. Im on the road to recovery tho, feeling a little bit better every day. So hopefully after this bad anxiety passes like it always does, i can get back to just taking zoloft.
Avatar n tn I've been on Seroquel, an anti-psychotic medicine for many years. I use it for sleep. I started with 12.5mg/night in 1999 and now I'm up to 400-600mg every night. Over the last few months I've noticed that my legs have been twitching (that's the best way I can explain it) constantly. Sometimes my arms do too but not as often as my legs. Sometimes my entire body twitches...
447130 tn?1225470866 Afetr being on 100mg of Seroquel at night for about a month now, my sleep is back to normal and the seroquel is making me feel better, keeping depression at bay. I've been through a rough 2 weeks with some personal things and I came through like a champ. I don't need Restoril or Ambien anymore and I have adjusted to Seroquel so my doc wants me on it for a bit longer. He explained sleep is crucial to bipolar disorder and ordered my on the Seroquel until otherwise notified.
Avatar f tn Ive tried various sleep meds but the one i have found helpful is Seroquel. It gave me great sleep at 25mg for about a month until my body got used to it. Then I had to keep increasing, now im at 300mg!! I've started taking Cymbalta for my anxiety, but its made me SO ALERT, that its completely taken away the affect of the seroquel. Ive tried clonazpam, zopiclone, trazadone and some others with no lucky.... My question is, how do i stop my body from adapting to the seroquel??
Avatar f tn Doctors o Mehelp here have suggested Seroquel for sleeping for addicts. We are dependent on Seroquel to sleep. No big deal. You can take it long term with no bad effect. We could quit, and the only side effect would be that we couldn't sleep. Many people are not able to sleep with aid. Seroquel is the last thing i had to take on my journey of insomnia. Maybe it'll work for you too. You NEED sleep. Life is too hard without getting the REM that you need. We take one per night.
1278098 tn?1297646373 This occurred to me, i reduced my seroquel and was on an AD so i got manic which lasted for 8 months. If not for the cessation of the seroquel i might have not have turned manic.
1246883 tn?1285547973 Seroquel stays in your system for a long time. I have never heard of that for a sleep aide. Its normally written for bipolar, its a psych med. Seroquel will make you gain weight and it will cause your self esteem to go down rapidly. You should try Ambian or Lunesta. they are the best out right now. As far as the weight ask for Effexor its for depression but has helped me lose weight.
607502 tn?1288247540 I was transfered from Seroquel to Risperdal years ago. Once the Seroquel was gone completely, for a couple of days I had minor flu like withdrawal symptoms and slept all day and felt run down. Then I was okay after that.
Avatar m tn do they help the manic state,,and mania thoughts?? i was on seraquil for 2 yrs it helped me sleep good but not really nothing threw the day on it..i cant take it anymore due to raise in heart rate..please help me in any way you can??
Avatar n tn hello, i was diagnosed with ocd. ive been on zoloft for 5 months on-going. it's nice and helpful. i used to have intrusive sexual/aggressive/religious agressive thoughts. now i have shifted from these to having random songs stuck in my head and it's been horrible for my sleeping. i have only had about 4 hours of sleep for the past two days because of this. ive been reading books, and stuff but its stuck. i wake up in the morning. and the song goes back on loop what do i do?
Avatar n tn t just stop taking it and I understand that it is a non-narcotic medication, but I still would like to know why the symptoms are the same? I am currently taking seroquel for anxiety.
