Common Questions and Answers about Seroquel dosage sleeping

seroquel

Avatar f tn I am taking my medication for my bipolar, anxiety but the thing is sometime I dont want to take the seroquel at night because I do not want to be put into a drug induce sleep. I like to be aware of my surroundings and I would like to be alert in case anything was to happen. I talked this with my social worker but because of the severity of my mania I think she wants me to be on a higher dosage or atleast a different kind.
Avatar m tn re stating that you have sleeping issues, and I take it that you have been prescribed Seroquel specifically for this matter. If this is the case, then it is in my opinion not a bad choice, though some would argue there are better(safer) options due to the risk factors involved with the class of drugs to which Seroquel belongs.
4762310 tn?1362165935 Ok , because i was put on seroquel 50 mg and 10 citalopram and where on them for 6 weeks and they did nothing at all, so he upped the seroquel to 100mg and citalopram to 20mg and its been 2 weeks and still nothing , :S
1278098 tn?1297646373 I was taking 1 tab of Seroquel in the morning and one at night. I was finding the last dosage before sleep was k-oing me and I was sleeping for 12-14 hrs! Thats too much sleep and I was missing pasrt of my day because as soon as I would roll out of bed I would have to be to work for 11pm. So instead I started taking a half before bed, then the other half when I got up. I found the other half started to make me drowzy before working nights so I stopped taking it.
1255936 tn?1296623461 Hello Everyone! Anyone have positive effects on Seroquel for GAD? I know it's an anti-psychotic for Schizophrenia and BP1 & 2. I have read everything I can find on this drug. I have been given 25mg a night for GAD that has developed over the last 5 months. I have a history of severe depressive episodes and have been on Effexor for yrs (300mg/day). The depression has been held back relatively well but the GAD and some symptoms of depression are creeping in.
16773127 tn?1451336964 I suffer from bi-polar and sleep disorders. My dr. prescribed many different things and nothing worked until the dosage of Seroquel was up to 600mg per night. Even at this dose I'm not sleeping more than 2 hours at a time. My weight has soared from 130 to 195 over the past couple of years.
Avatar f tn any info at all on this med would be helpful............also im on klonopin and 1/2 of a 25 mg seroquel(as needed for sleep) I dont think i like how the seroquel makes me feel.............the dr said lamictal should help my depression...........i was on abilify and i feel i gained weight on it plus develepoed awful dizziness had to stop it after 3 months.
Avatar m tn I would want to know from the members of this forum about how many people are using Seroquel only as a sleeping aid in doses of 25 mg and 50 mg.All suggestions and answers are welcome.
Avatar m tn I have been on Zoloft for 4 weeks and cant sleep. My Dr increased the dosage to 150mgs and it has not helped. I stay up all night, and when I go to the bathroom and look at myself in the mirror, my pupils are dilated. Is this normal? Told my Dr I was going to stop taking it and she insist I stay on it. She says Im being childish and that I need to take Seroquel at night to sleep, and to take the Zoloft in the mornings. I am sick of taking anymore pills!
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with bipolar a month ago. The pdoc has been working with the dosage of Lamictal. I went up to 150 mg but had severe swelling. He put me on 50 mg on Tuesday. I have not slept well in weeks. I have had an especially hard time since I dropped down, getting only about three hours a night. I can't function on that little sleep. The doc gave me 25 mg of seroquel. I used it last night and slept much better. Is sleep always going to be a problem with bipolar meds?
Avatar f tn Seroquel can cause temporary movement disorder such as akathesia and dystonia that can be treated with a side effect pill but what you are describing sounds more like withdrawal symptoms and ones of concern so you should speak to your psychiatrist as soon as possible.
Avatar n tn a warm glass of milk, hot bath, unisom, tylenol pm, valerian root, melatonin, L-Tryptophan. amitriptilayne, lunesta, seroquel, muscle relaxants, anti-anxiety meds, i was even put on an investigational drug made from GHB, can anyone help??
Avatar f tn Hi. I've been on Seroquel and then Seroquel XR for about two years now. I was initially prescribed it for bipolar mania, and the resultant insomnia. I have had panic attacks before prior to taking Seroquel, however never constantly, and never for no reason at all. I would have a panic attack after a traumatic event, or when I smoked pot as a teenager, but otherwise I never had them.
Avatar f tn i've realized on all medications i've been on for my bipolar they work well at first but i slowly become immune i guess cuz they stop working ?? I've been on lithium and seroquel n this old medication for sleeping and this has happened.
Avatar n tn I had anxiety before going to bed so I took ativan. I also took my seroquel and trazodone. Will I be ok?
Avatar f tn I can't take Seroquel at a higher dosage it makes me sleep to long...I just don't know about things right now...my head seems very unclear and of course I am still up at almost 4 am I have to get up at 8...I can't sleep but I don't want to take the seroquel I might oversleep....
5082295 tn?1371250911 Alright. First, the usual caveat. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR!!! (Just as you're already trying to do!! Keep a'tryin'!!!) Having said that, here's my take on the matter. And that's ALL it is. My take. So give my opinion the weight it deserves. I had no trouble making the switch from Seroquel to Quetiapine. Some people do respond differently to the name brand of a med than they do to the generic.
585414 tn?1288941302 Then the second dose has to be taken some time mid morning and can be slept off as well. But with many of these medications (a standard one was Seroquel, which I took in the past) if I take it too late in the day I feel the effect too much (cognitive confusion, motor restlessness) and if I take it too early it doesn't work and I am manic during the day. But as the specific medications are sedating both doses have to be slept off so it is hard to fix the time. Anyone have this issue?
Avatar f tn It worked so well that I was getting 6 to 7 hours of restful sleep every time I took the medication. No hangover other ill effects, ever. I worked up my dosage to 3 mg nightly and suddenly in early September 2010, it stopped working. Taking a higher dosage made things actually worse. I just couldn't fall sleep anymore. I would lay in bed with my eyes closed but wide awake. Little did I know about Lorazepam withdrawal!
603015 tn?1329862973 I know, but I'm so hesitant to up the dosage on the Seroquel. I'm at 200mg and would like to keep it that way. Quite frankly, in the next year or so I'd like to start a family and not having meds in my system for a good three to four months before I conceive is ideal. The sleeping has been an issue since that relationship. I think I destroyed my natural sleep rhythms by basically abusing the OTC sleep aids.
980052 tn?1262967079 k I am clean from heroin and benzos 69 days today! My question is that I am prescribed seroquel for sleep and my Dr. just upped my dosage to 100mg yes. this a.m I couldn't wake up and get with it for a good hour! I have heard this drug has some bad side effects does anyone have any experience with seroquel ar advice on how long I should continue it, side effects I should be looking for or any precautions?
Avatar n tn What happens when someone with no mental illnesses or symptoms takes 50mg of Seroquel regularly?
2198749 tn?1338642995 I am curious to know if a 75mg nightly dose of Seroquel for sleep can increase depressive symptoms during the day. If so, should I discuss a change in meds or dosage with my HCP?
202665 tn?1248806733 I have a really hard time sleeping. This has been a problem forever. My pdoc and I have have tried many combinations of medication. Latest is Seroquel XR and Trazadone. On the flip side, we are using Cymbalta to help me "wake up". I've noticed a really hard time concentrating in the morning hours, extremely tired, and having "time warps" where I just zone out.
Avatar m tn After my reply I looked up seroquel. I didn't recognize the brand name and assumed it was a "simple" sleeping pill, I see it is not. Still, I think a half dose is better than none. It would be better to telephone your doctor's office and tell them you are about out of the medication and need at least a minimum refill so you can make it to the appointment date on the 8th without running out of your necessary prescription.
Avatar n tn I just got my blood results back..TSH 3.2 T-4Free low @.74..the reason I went for the blood tests is I was losing a lot of hair..and I know if you're losing "good" hair ..that is the 1st sign that something is wrong..Had a b12 serum test and it came back at 350.. Did interferon 2 years ago for 48 wks and NEVER had a TSH level over 2.0 ! That was my biggest concern on interferon.. !! I have been extremely tired, achey, and of course, the hair loss..
Avatar m tn Please help me, I have been taking Clonazepam 0.5mg twice a day for the past year because I had anxiety problems when I am alone (Sort of like stage fright when I am outside). My anxiety problems have lessoned when I went back with my sons father and I only started taking Clonazepam 0.5mg about once a day or even once a week as needed when I need to go out somewhere alone.
Avatar f tn Yes but there is the issue of long term side effects. As a person with advanced tardive dyskinesia I am vividly aware of this. I have a friend whose mother has Parkinson's and she is being given Seroquel as a sleeping pill and I was told even by my psychiatrist that its "the wrong medication".
