Common Questions and Answers about Cut seroquel in half

seroquel

Avatar m tn I take 200 mg of seroquel to help me sleep if i cut it in half will it still help me fall asleep!! I only have 12 days left of seroquel and i can't see the doctor until the 8th of next month so i'm freaking out about not being able to sleep!! Please help!!
8520825 tn?1398515060 Again, those issues don't appear overnight. Meds will be out of your blood in 4-5 half lives of the drug. In the case of Seroquel, the half life is 6 hours, so it actually goes out pretty quickly. Some may remain bound to tissues, so it can take days to months to fully get rid of a drug, but the levels are likely to be too low to notice, and with such a short half life and only moderate lipid solubility, I don't think Seroquel will hang around for too long.
736475 tn?1281262927 had he had a different form of the meds to take, he would have tried that. but he was anxious to stop. as you know the xr's cannot be broken in half , as this changes the release schedule. thankyou for trying to explain withdrawal to an addict.
Avatar f tn I got cut off my seroquel cold turkey and had horrible withdraw symptoms for a year and 3 months and as soon as I went to a new Dr she started me back on it at 100mg once a day and before I was on 400mg three times daily for 3 years I had vomiting weight loss and sever agitation so it can last 4 months to 15 months I didn't request to be put back on it but I'm glad I was because I'm sleeping again and not puking
605458 tn?1539232408 Trazodone is also the drug that gave me such severe peripheral edema I couldn't wear shoes and had to take a diuretic. So, no on Trazodone. If I break the Seroquel into doses and take them in the daytime then I will be even more drowsy in the daytime than I am if I take it all at night before bed. Ah, well, I guess I'll give it the two weeks and decide what I can and can't live with. I did have an iffy moment driving today. I thought I was OK enough, but apparently not.
1278098 tn?1297649973 I started working nights to help my knee pain (reconstructive knee surgery). I was taking 1 tab of Seroquel in the morning and one at night. I was finding the last dosage before sleep was k-oing me and I was sleeping for 12-14 hrs! Thats too much sleep and I was missing pasrt of my day because as soon as I would roll out of bed I would have to be to work for 11pm. So instead I started taking a half before bed, then the other half when I got up.
Avatar f tn but anyways recently (like within thee last year or so) I relaised I was taking to much I saw my phyc doc who basicly cut my doesage in half.....thats when I lost 20lbs without even much of an effort really (granted this was weight I had gained I still consider it an accomplishment) However I decided to continue dieting and since then I've lost 15 more... thats 35 in total I'm still trying to loose more but anyways heres how I lost the weight 1) lots of frutis and veggies,....
Avatar n tn (pounding heart, low blood pressure 60/40, shaking legs, sometimes waking up and gasping for air). I have tried to break the Seroquel in half, but I get the same reactions. Why would this start happening. In the past, I have had to cut back the Seroquel due to weight loss. However, I have not lost weight in two years. Can years of these drugs cause heart problems?
Avatar n tn Also, is it dangerous to cut the pills in half to take a lesser dose? Or should you cut or break the pills at all?
Avatar n tn My ms meds[baclofen/tizanidine] and 300mg of seroquel gave me a memory loss big-time!!!. The ER cut all my meds in half[dc'd the tizan]. I never want to go that high again. I couldn't remember my grandchildren!!! I did get withdrawals from it.[Was jumpy/agitated/anxious]for several days. I'm on 150mg now. My dreams at night are vivid, and it's like being in a reality show!
999828 tn?1250126526 I take seroquel in 150mg and it don't do **** at all any more i have to swallow 2 pills to knock me out I.
Avatar m tn As of today, a month after stopping completely Seroquel I see slow progress, three days ago I was able to have a 5 hours sleep (cut in two) and last night I got a total of 6 and a half hours (2 hours-4 hours-half an hour over a 9 hours period). The nausea disappeared last week and only a mild discomfort is left in my stomach and the light headache is still there but it could just be the lack of sleep.
Avatar m tn I saw her yesterday which was on 10/15/2015. I was taking 25mg or seroquel which I cut in half 12.5mg. And she told me to go to Walgreens pharmacy and for me to get there Valerian Root 450mg with Passion Flower. It made me sleep great and when I woke up in the morning I felt great. I will no longer be taking Seroquel, its like putting poison in your system!!!
Avatar n tn It would seem that the addition of 300mg of seroquel would help me to sleep and would make up for having cut the zyprexa dose in half. The only answer I have been able to make for this dilemma is that perhaps my body is just so used to the ingredients of the zyprexa that I would have to wean myself off it very slowly. However, this perplexes me because I am not going off a drug, but rather,I am switching from one drug to another.
1117252 tn?1259723379 The seroquel seems to be working very well - I was starting w/d last night and w/in 30mins of taking seroquel I was able to sleep a whole 8hrs - but I'm worried it's b/c I still had sub in my system.
Avatar f tn It, so far is the best antipsychotic I have ever taken, we'll see as the time goes on. I gained about fifteen pounds at first on Seroquel xr! I cut out most colas, I never have been a snacker. It does not make me crave food or sugar, it just adds weight. There is a great solution, eat smaller portions, drink more water and walk or if in warm area, swim. But it is not permanent unless you do nothing to take it back off.

5082295 tn?1371254511 I have been on seroquel for probably 8-10 years now for Bipolar disorder & have always been on the brand name, no generic, ever. But my patient assistance was back ordered so for a few months ive had to get it at the pharmacy as the generic name. I just now got my Seroquel (brand name med) and I am having the same side effects I did when I 1st started years ago. Can it really make this much of a difference? It’s the same dose, but I mean im falling asleep all thru out the day!
Avatar f tn 30 last night. I couldn't wake up this morning and have been in a fog all day. I feel like I'm half asleep and had trouble focussing all day!
Avatar m tn Hello, I was on suboxone for a couple years and switched to subutex and have been on subutex for about a year, normally breaking my 8mg tablet in half and only taking 4mg. I am on my 5th day cold turkey, and I must say from what I have read about others experiences with tapering down and going thru hell for months, that cold turkey is the way to go. I don't feel excellent, but it really isn't that bad. I took my last dose Sunday afternoon, typically taking it around 4pm or 5pm.
Avatar n tn This has been going on for about a year and a half. Always in the morning and usually when my stomach growls. I had been thinking that it could have to do with the fact that I take pre-natal vitamins before I go to bed. They kinda upset my stomach so, maybe there is something to the two symptoms going together. Anyway, hopefully we'll get some answers!
Avatar n tn If I had to take a guess Id say yours should be pretty minor , even less if yo0u can cut down to one a day for maybe a week or so then maybe a half for a few more days, I still can not understand why Im not in full blown wd's right now Im going on 60 hrs with nothing....
Avatar m tn Hi there, and welcome to the forum. I am so glad that you are here! Lots of nice people are here to help in any way they can. Please listen to them, for their experiences have made them really wise. I understand what you are saying about not letting your family or coworkers know what's going on. Please go as soon as you can to the pain clinic doctor and tell him/her what you have told us. Then ask for a taper program.
Avatar f tn I am sure our daughter's psychiatrist knows and she's right but its so strange that a med widely used in USA and also approved in Canada (Zeldox), just is not available n the UK ! Our daughter has been on Abilify(Aripiprazole) for the last 17 months and is now symptom free. Her motivation even improved and she's back to Uni doing a masters now. Unfortunately, even Abilify caused her gaining weight. Its not as bad as Seroquel (Quetiapine).
Avatar f tn I wouldn't think you need to take very long to taper down after only 6 days of use. Maybe try taking it every other day and see how you react, or cut the dose in half. I would try EVERYTHING in your power to fight your depression without drugs. My life was a living hell thanks to them, and I am much better with vitamins, healthy eating, regular exercise. Go outside as much as possible...it helps. I take lots of walks.
Avatar f tn ( I'm not joking... in the past two years.. I've slowly developed it all...
Avatar f tn Oregano has natural antibacterial and antiviral compounds. I put about a half a teaspoon in my salt water nasal spray and use it several times a day. I also put a pinch under my tongue to get those same compounds into my system. I read you have to stay focused on this process until you are completely cured. I am encouraged.
585414 tn?1288944902 Osteoarthritis is harder to cope with than what I have by far and you have my sympthy but I had a great aunt with severe arthritis and part of her difficulty coping with it we now believe was bipolar that never was treated (she had rampant moodswings) and that runs in my mother's side of the family though half of the people didn't realize it until I pointed it out to them and some of them are now getting help.
603015 tn?1329866573 I feel like I am going a little crazy and I can no longer remember what it was like to feel normal, does everyone talk to them selves in there head or is this the depression , I cant remember if I used to do it or not but I cant seem to switch it off its 24/7 so much so that when someone asks me something it takes me a while to focus on what they have said because my mind is already focused on what I am saying to myself? does this make sense.
