Avatar m tn I have a friend who had a random seizure one morning after she had been vomiting and had diarrhea all night before. She also had not been sleeping well or at all some nights the whole month before. I took her to the emergency room and she had blood work done and a CT scan done both came back just fine. The doctor told her it was probably that she was dehydrated, and had lack of sleep that put too much stress on her brain. He also told her to consult a family doctor.
Avatar f tn I think your vet is doing the right things, although a true diagnosis is important. He could be right about the poisoning. Obviously, poisoning can be difficult to assess, particularly if you are not able to supervise your dog 24hrs a day. It is certainly worth considering what your dog is eating (even pet food can become toxic to some dogs), treats given, and any chemicals used in the home or garden, as well as what friends, neighbours and children may be using/giving.
Avatar n tn WOW. I don't know if it was an actual seizure; however, have you considered not doing that again? You even admiited to "drinking WAY too much"....so, whatever happens after that could be a number of things. Try NOT drinking..see if it happens again??????? Just a suggestion.

Avatar f tn The other neuroglycopenic manifestations of hypoglycemia may be abnormal mental state, anxiety, fatigue, confusion, paresthesiae etc. Other non organic causes of seizure may be a febrile convulsion due to very high body temperature. He needs to be evaluated thoroughly for a complete blood sugar profile, fasting, post prandial and an hbA1C to check his glycemic control over the last 3 months. The neurologist should reexamine him for systemic manifestations of diabetes to check. Take care.

Avatar f tn It may give some conclusion. Cause of scarring on temporal lobe are- Temporal lobe seizure and Mesial temporal sclerosis. Your present symptoms do not suggest of either of these The causes of unilateral muscle paralysis, bad taste in the mouth, swallowing difficulties, hearing abnormal noises and neurological symptoms may be long term effects of chemical poisoning. Please recall whether you ingested some foods harmful for health or inhaled harmful chemicals for a long time.
Avatar m tn I understand you have undergone a number of blood tests and imaging studies. Still I am enumerating all possible causes of your symptoms. The symptoms, especially numbness and tingling can be due to a mini stroke or transient ischemic attack, compression of spinal nerves, Vit B12 deficiency, vitamin D deficiency, low testosterone, anemia, lupus and other autoimmune disorders, heavy metal poisoning, vaso-vagal attack, multiple sclerosis, hypothyroidism, diabetes and panic attack.
20895020 tn?1584981095 Multiple EEG's and nothing shows up but the neurologist put her on anti convulsants anyway and its to the point that she cant drive and the seizure meds don't work at all. Neuro says they are non epileptic seizures.
Avatar f tn Dr Linus Pauling said that deficiency of this little molecule Vitamin C in our bodies causes more misery and more diseases than we know. Google him and read his stats. I hope this helps. Sunes.
Avatar n tn There are quite a few causes of muscle tremors. These can include myositis, intervertebral disk disease, tetanus, strychnine and other poisoning, neurological disorders, exertional rhabdomyolysis, primary skeletal muscle tumors (benign or malignant), and metabolic diseases. There is a possibility that they are not muscle tremors at all, but are a kind of unusual seizure activity, that is probably why your vet requested a video tape. Maybe you could send a link for the video to us?
Avatar n tn I've been smoking for 10 years and not once did it cause a seizure for me, as a matter of fact it prevented them. marijuana causes a relaxing effect and calms the body down, it does not produce an anxious effect. One thing I will say though is when under the effects of THC, It does expand your thoughts and many other things. If you are thinking about something that can be fearful or depressive It can send you into a panic attack which will cause you're heart rate to increase.
641243 tn?1235755684 Please share anything that could be helpful or if anything similar has been experienced...does this odd behavior often lead to the first big seizure with epilepsy or could his be something else?
Avatar n tn Any intentional movement of the involved muscle causes the fasciculations to cease immediately, but they may return once the muscle is at rest again. They have a variety of different causes, the majority of these are benign, but can also be due to disease of the motor neurons. Common causes include the following: . Dehydration and Fatigue . Werdnig-Hoffman disease . Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) which is a rare cause . Organophosphate poisoning .

He says people "don't look right", but can't elaborate. Today another seizure resulting in dislocated shoulder as he fell. MRI/CAT both negative. Doctors are stumped. NEED DOCTORS ADVICE -- PLEASE HELP!!!
Avatar n tn The falling down episode could have been a seizure. Seizures can occur due to a variety of causes but in this case it could be secondary to a brain tumor with metastasis to the gastro-intestional tract (stomach, intestines, abdominal organs) or visa versa. Although he was only five years old, we are seeing cancerous tumors in younger and younger patients. Other causes for seizures are poisons or toxins.
Avatar n tn The twitching may be occasional or may go on nearly continuously. It can also be a type of seizure. If there is a headache then it can be benign intracranial hypertension too.
Avatar n tn Very sorry for your loss...The causes that lead to your pet's death can be multiple. What you describe seems to me (I am not a vet!) a stroke and it can happen all the time. Especially in elderly dogs. You said it was a stray dog so you do not know about his past and maybe he had seizures befor but you do not know... You could ask the vet to make an autopsy so you an find out the reason why Caesar died.
Avatar f tn infectious causes such as Bartonella, Toxoplasma, Cryptococcus and others; or, cats can develop seizures from an extension or complication of an inner or middle ear infection. Brain cancers (such as meningioma or lymphoma) can also result in epilepsy but these usually occur in older cats, and are unlikely in a 2-year-old cat. Poisoning is high on my list for a 2-year-old cat. Could your cat have gotten into anything toxic that you are aware of?
