Seizure causes toxicity

Common Questions and Answers about Seizure causes toxicity

seizure

Avatar f tn I developed seizures suddenly at age 42 in 1991. Dx: complex partial seizure due to left temporal lobe injury (car accident in 1966). I didn't stabilize on Dilantin until Diamox was added. I was perimenopausal at the time. Last fall I had two gynecological surgeries, including a complete hysterectomy. 1/2009 I was diagnosed as severely Vitamin D deficient (D2 was <4 and D3 was 8) and put on massive dose (50,000 units per week for 8 weeks.
3187528 tn?1344809110 About two months ago my 3 year old Jack-a-Bee went into a mild seizure. We rushed him to the vet and he couldn't find anything wrong. Said that it's common for dogs to have seizures and to keep a log if he has anymore. Exactly one month after his first he had his second one in the middle of the night. This is when I decided that maybe his weight had something to do with it. So I cut back on the amount of food I gave him and started walking him for 20 minutes every day.
Avatar m tn He told his that he was leaning to something more organic (not sure what this is) than eplipsey since she us 5 and never had an episode like this before. He mentioned anemia and brain tumors and a bunch of other possible causes. I was going to see ig you could provide some insight, or maybe some other questions I could ask him. he noted that if a brain tumor is suspected, that we will have to get an MRI, usually around $2,000. We are willing to do whatever, what is the next step?
Avatar n tn When the temperature of Aspartame exceeds 86 degrees F, the wood alcohol in AS PA RTAME converts to formaldehyde and then to formic acid, which in turn causes metabolic acidosis. (Formic acid is the poison found in the sting of fire ants). The methanol toxicity mimics multiple sclerosis; thus people were being diagnosed with having multiple sclerosis in error. The multiple sclerosis is not a death sentence, where methanol toxicity is.

Avatar n tn They had wondered why seizures were rampant (the phenylalanine in aspartame breaks down the seizure threshold and depletes serotonin, which causes manic depression, panic attacks, rage and violence). Just before the Conference, I received a FAX from Norway, asking for a possible antidote for this poison because they are experiencing so many problems in their country. This poison is now available in 90 PLUS countries worldwide.

Avatar n tn I haven't had a twitch or seizure in about 7 years now and recently Ive been taking less medication than normal out of sheer forgetfullness. When I had my bloodwork done this last time I was low on my levels and received a call saying that I need to continue taking my medicine so I'll reach those levels again even though I'm feeling as good as I ever have regardless of the medication intake or lack there of. My questions are: 1) Can I drink alcohol?
Avatar n tn The medication is very beneficial, but I am worried about long term damage and was wondering if adderall causes or can cause glutamate toxicity within the motor cells. I know muscle twitching is usually benign, but I am concerned about the effects adderall has on motor neuron activity possible MND. I know this is kind of an off the wall question, but I would really appreciate any input you or your colleagues have on this issue and if I should continue taking adderall?
Avatar n tn Bupropion SR allowed for more convenient twice daily dosing and reduced seizure incidence rates to 0.1%.9,10 Published reports, however, warn that this long-acting formulation might prolong neurologic toxicity—including seizures in overdose.11 Seven years later, in 2003, the FDA approved extended-release bupropion (bupropion ER) as a new, once daily substitute for bupropion IR and SR.
Avatar m tn And this brings me to my next question - if it is so dangerous to supplement hormones like testosterone, since it causes the body to stop producing it naturally on its own, isnt there the same danger with VitD? If I am pumping large amounts of artificial VitD (how the heck is this stuff made anyway?) into my body, wont it mess with my ability to make the stuff naturally?
Avatar m tn Overdosage A lethal dose of Gabapentin was not identified in mice and rats receiving single oral doses as high as 8000 mg/kg. Signs of acute toxicity in animals included ataxia, labored breathing, ptosis, sedation, hypoactivity, or excitation. Acute oral overdoses of Gabapentin up to 49 grams have been reported. In these cases, double vision, slurred speech, drowsiness, lethargy, and diarrhea, were observed. All patients recovered with supportive care.
Avatar n tn 1) In all the time that I have had atonic bladder, I NEVER lost any urine accidently. This month it happened while I was sleeping. I had a seizure before bed and then woke up in the night and had incontinence (a lot) while sleeping. This frightened me.Once again I lost a small amount during seizure. I saw a new Neuro who says his concern is stopping this seizures only and possibly upping my phenobarb dosage as well as starting me on a antihypertensive.
Avatar n tn There are many potential causes of this condition. The most common cause is diabetes, but other causes include vitamin deficiencies, heavy metal toxicity, to much vitamin B6, multiple myeloma, metabolic/mitochondrial disorders, and paraneoplastic disorders (related to cancer). As far as blood transfusions are concerned, I think it is unlikely to be related, but there is one case where it could possibly be related.
Avatar n tn Everyone has finally concluded that it is the VVDS originally diagnosed, and her sometimes trigger may be stress, which leads to low blood sugar, which causes the blackouts. But there are still three things that don't add up. 1)She will be fine for 6 weeks, then she will have several blackouts/near blackouts in a two or three day span, even when sedated and in the hospital, lying down, seated or standing.
Avatar f tn Heavy metal toxicity (mercury, lead, aluminum, etc.) can lead to neurological problems with seizure disorders and developmental problems at the top of the list. This is just my opinion, and I would strongly recommend you research farther but, I would hold off having her get the Guardisil vaccination for several years. I say this because I have seen many young girls have seizures, stroke-like symptoms, blood sugar problems, brain injuries, and one death within a few days of getting this shot.
233488 tn?1310696703 This accounts for the rising annual number of emergency room visits (400,000+) for panic attacks, acute psychosis and toxicity. A review of medical and mental damaging effects of marijuana can be found in Missouri Medicine 2012. Suffice here to say that THC is especially dangerous to children under age 15 and increases the incidence of mental health problems, in some cases the risk of Schizophrenia is increased 10 fold compared to the general population.
Avatar f tn I cant stand to bend my neck in the chin to chest movement,it causes circulation cut off and i hear extreme high pitch ringing in my ears or i can hear the blood rushing thru my brain.I have problems with my shoulder blades feeling like they are being crushed together.
Avatar n tn Causes of tremors include: Multiple sclerosis Stroke Traumatic brain injury Brain tumour Chronic kidney disease Parkinson's disease Drugs side effects Hyperthyroidism Liver failure Mercury toxicity Hypoglycemia Acidosis Electrolytes imbalance: - Magnesium - Potassium - Calcium - Sodium Deficiency states: - Vitamin B12 - Thiamine (vitamin B1) - Vitamin E - Vitamin B6 (rare) Lyme's Disease Adrenal gland problems Virus or an infection Autonomic nervous system dysfunction Aspartame Stress/a
Avatar n tn I said, NO, they have metal in them as I'm looking at the MRI report I had done in Sept and Dec 2010, but got skin sx last July until now, still dealing with it, the pains are cruel, nauseating, fatigue, just like you describe, atty sites say it's rare, it's not rare, getting a diagnosis of NSF is rare, but you need to get all med record, the paper copies, dvds of all radiology and do not alert them, that you are on to them, stay super hydrated, give the NAC a chance, I take Klonopin for sleep,
Avatar f tn Dr Linus Pauling said that deficiency of this little molecule Vitamin C in our bodies causes more misery and more diseases than we know. Google him and read his stats. I hope this helps. Sunes.
Avatar n tn What happens with this disease is that antibodies react against protein in the thyroid gland, which causes gradual destruction of the gland itself. Eventually it is will be unable to produce the thyroid hormones the body needs. One of the characteristics of the disease is the severe fluctuation of the hormone levels (hyperthyroidism / hypothyroidism), which causes fatigue, and fluctuation of weight (loss and gain). You need to be followed by a specialist for this disease.
Avatar n tn I am not a neurologist, but a retired physician. I have heard people on this forum mention episodes VERY similar to yours. I also have had very brief episodes with some of those features, that I have blessedly outgrown. First, my new mantra: Blow off any Dr. that blows you off!!! What an A**! Full of himself, no? You deserve better. We all do. Did you have febrile seizures as a young child or baby? Is there a family hisotry of migraine or seizures? Do you have any neurologic disorders?
Avatar n tn The anticonvulsant activity of carbamazepine, like phenytoin, principally involves limitation of seizure propagation by reduction of posttetanic potentiation (PTP) of synaptic transmission. Carbamazepine appears to provide relief of pain in trigeminal neuralgia by reducing synaptic transmission within the trigeminal nucleus. The drug has also demonstrated sedative, anticholinergic, antidepressant, muscle relaxant, antiarrhythmic, antidiuretic, and neuromuscular transmission-inhibitory actions.
1421029 tn?1282720978 Isolated focal abnormality in the splenium of the corpus callosum is quite unusual in a patient without known history of multiple sclerosis, traumatic diffuse axonal injury, or status epilepticus. Consider drug toxicity, transient metabolic derangement, encephalitis or ADEM, PML, rare neoplasm, or hypoglycemia. Doubt hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy or posterior reversible encephalopathy in the absence of known preeclampsia/eclampsia.
2106890 tn?1333956788 After that incident, I never had another convulsion or seizure. I am not sure if that is important but I just thought I would add it just in case..... thanks!
Avatar n tn My current medication for the latter is the most relief I've ever had so far, but I also understand that the Hep C meds. can causes severe depression as well. They tell me I'd need to take meds. for the C for about a year & with everything going on in my world, I just don't know if I could handle it!! Anyone with any insight perhaps?? Anything you can tell me re: this :"combination" of illness would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you.........
7402782 tn?1390590497 Other than that, you did everything just exactly as you should. One of the biggest problems is immediately after a seizure, dogs become amnesic for a few minutes, so they need lots of reassurance - as they sometimes have no idea who you are or where they are. Although I don't think it would happen with your dog, some do bite their owners, because they think they have been attacked by the stranger in the room. I assume the vet did a kidney and liver function test?
Avatar n tn I have tried going the holistic approach recently and went to a nutritionist that tests heavy metal toxicity and hormones. I found that I have mercury and aluminum toxicity and low adrenals. Symptoms for all of those conditions are a lot like mine, so I am going to try that route. I just don't know what else to do. Everyone has mentioned so many options and diseases. I mean how can you be tested for everything. Do MRI's really show everything or should I get another one?
