Common Questions and Answers about Relpax for headaches

relpax

Avatar n tn Right now i am only taking Relpax for migraines. I have a headache almost everyday of the week and a migraine 2-3 times per month. I only take the Relpax during my migraines and may take tylenol, ibuprofen, or excedrin for my headace without any relief. My MD had spoken with me about taking medicine daily to prevent the occurence of my migraines. I really do not want to take another daily med because I want to have a baby in the next couple of years.
Avatar m tn My neuro gave me Ultram, which is a better choice for chronic and frequent headaches.
Avatar n tn I have been taking relpax about twice a week for re-current migraine headaches. My mum suffered the same problem at my age. In the last three weeks I have had to take 80gm of Relpax everyday to clear the headache. I only need one 80gm tablet a day, but it;s every day! i have tried preventors but they don't seem to help. Analgesics only seem to dull the headache - not take it away. Am I Addicted to Relpax? What should I do?
Avatar f tn What is the best, cheapest treatment for these kinds of headaches? Are they indeed a pinched nerve? (I have one of the narrowest noses of anyone I know...and these headaches run on my skinny-nosed side of the family.) Or are they "cluster" or contact-point headaches? Unlike traditional migraine sufferers, I've never had an "aura" in my life. I HATE taking Advil, because it upsets my stomach and generally doesn't work.
1088430 tn?1259159773 t recognize Botox as a standard treatment for migraine headaches and the government will ONLY pay for what they consider "standard treatments" (so, the generic, most commonly prescribed form of a treatment), and in this case the government considers the daily treatments such as antidepressants, anticonvulsants and beta blockers the standard treatments for migraine headaches.
Avatar f tn Hello, I have had the most awful headaches for 4 weeks now with loss of voice as well. I went to doctor at the beginning of the second week and was tested for flu and strep. Dr felt I was developing Bronchitis and treated me with antibiotics. The headaches are the worse ever. They stop me in my tracks, literally. At night the headache gets more intense when I try to turn over and causes me to have to sit up instead of lying down. My head feels as if I move too quick it will explode.
Avatar f tn I have been taking Relpax 40 ml for the coming on of a migraine. I have been getting fewer and fewer over the years. However, I am only allowed 9 pills for the month thru my health insurance. Is there another new migraine medicine out there that I could get that would be similier but would allow me more pills for the month.
Avatar n tn I had this pretty steadily for 4 weeks, then tapered for a week, then it was gone for a week. I was so relieved. Then I had a migraine and the feeling returned 24 hours later. I do have a history of migraines, and sometimes this feels like I am on the verge of a migraine with this condition. I have tried Mazalt and Relpax and neither really help this current condition. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I am a 36 yo female.
Avatar f tn Iv tried preventatives that did nothing but bad side effects. Along with all sorts of pain meds. I currentlly take ibuprofen almost daily as relpax for my migrianes when needed one with a shot of sumatriptan (immetrex) injected in my leg when the relpax fails to work. Those are only acute meds and have to b taken wisely so I use them sparingly. I only get ten pills a month anyways.iv also had 6 nerves burned on left side of neck and an occipital nerve block in skull.
Avatar n tn I also use Relpax, as needed, for migraines (which has been on a daily basis for the past week..so much for the KeppraXR). Relpax is the only thing I have found in the past 8 years that works (it turns my migraines back into plain old headaches). I am still trying to pay my medical bills on my own...I constacted five organizations that assist with medical bills...all said they are no longer able to help...donations are down. What is 'pronex'?
Avatar f tn I had hormonal headaches both times and took Fioricet. It helped so much! I still take it as needed - pms. Without it, I never would have made it 9 months and my doc saw that. My kids are 10 and 7 and perfectly healthy. 'Healthy, happy mommy..healthy, happy babies"!
1088430 tn?1259159773 (Sorry in advance for length; from desperation)6yr hist. what thought was "chronic sinus headaches" that triggered handul migraines per month.4yrs ago rough patch chronic migraines lead to 4 months worth doc appts, ct scans, mri, neurosurgeon ref, due to what they thought "AVM".Artialgram b/f laser surgery showed "not there".Thankful, but so over all that wasted dead end time, cancelled foll up with reg neur.
Avatar f tn Hi, Thank you for the question. For persistent headaches, possibilities like migrainous, cluster, tension and refractive errors that need to be evaluated thoroughly with the help of a neurologist here. Migraine like headache can be throbbing, one sided of face & head and preceded by aura (starts with blurred vision). Cluster headache may appear as burning, explosive in nature and tear appears from eyes. Tension headache originates with stress and anxiety disorder.

618913 tn?1234747600 Hi, I don't know if anyone has any advice. I have had a headaches since last Friday (off and on) They got worse on Wednesday with really bad nausea and I had to go into my neurologist and he gave me an IV treatment. They gave me extra pain meds and nausea meds and said I'd feel like I was punched in the head the next day but that the IV treatment was successful. I felt that way the next day but I still have remnant headaches. Today I'm even sound sensitive.
Avatar f tn Hi...I have been on Topamax for 2 1/2 years and it doesnt seem to be working anymore. I went to a neurologist and he raised my dose from 100 mg to 125 mg about 3 wks ago. The headaches are still there...everyday, some stronger than others, but EVERYDAY. I also take 450mg wellbutrin. I dont know if I should call the Dr and ask him if I should start taking 150mg or does anyone think its too early to say (3 wks) I take relpax when they get real bad and that works great, but 4 hrs later...
Avatar f tn Long story short they did a LP which took 4 attempts but it was not Bacterial Meningitis, I was given pain meds for my H/A and told to treat the fever. 2 days later I went back because I ended up with a Post lumbar H/A..that was treat with a blood patch. The head minimized and I was sent home again. 5 days after the massive headache and fever came back, I was admitted and told that they believe it was aseptic meningitis I had, so they kept me for a week to treat the H/A..
Avatar m tn Now I just had an MRI as I never was given one for the headaches and waiting for results and also my mom has found a bump on my head and the thing is I don't remember ever hitting my head. I'm scared it may be something serious. I don't know if I should go to the hospital. I want to because I feel weird and now it just won't go away but I don't want to go just to be told it's stress because I know it's not.
1034911 tn?1389546066 Hello. I've suffered from daily headaches for over 10 years now and have been under the supervision of a neurologist, who hasn't always been the easiest to get into visit. Last week, I saw a new one and in desperation, I FINALLY took his advice to detox from Excedrin Tension that I have been usually on a daily basis for those "annoying" headaches that I wake up with.
Avatar f tn First, I've been suffering with headaches for years. Been on a lot of different meds and nothing seems to truly work. If my headache is an actual migraine, then relpax does work for me. However, I've been having this pressure at the top of my head for weeks now and it has gotten much worse. When I take relpax for it, it makes it a little better, but not 100%. The pain sometimes goes behind my eyes and then I can't even do my job..which is computer related.
Avatar f tn Has the Dr ever prescribed imitrex? I suffer migraine headaches. As well. Just a question, your Dr has you on pain pills for another ailment, right?
Avatar n tn Is there any drug out there I can take to prevent my migraines that does not have these preservatives? I am having migraines way too often. I have relpax but I can only take up to 3 per week.
