Relpax and rebound headaches

Common Questions and Answers about Relpax and rebound headaches

relpax

Avatar n tn Did they instruct you that if you take too many Relpax in a week that you can have migraine rebound? I too have Relpax and my script says no more than 2/day and 3/week because if I do it could cause migraine rebound.
1034911 tn?1389546066 Hello. I've suffered from daily headaches for over 10 years now and have been under the supervision of a neurologist, who hasn't always been the easiest to get into visit. Last week, I saw a new one and in desperation, I FINALLY took his advice to detox from Excedrin Tension that I have been usually on a daily basis for those "annoying" headaches that I wake up with.
Avatar n tn so there is no point in taking them. And, the problem with over-the-counter NSAIDS is they can cause serious rebound headaches... which could explain some of those headaches you are getting every day. Yup, pain killers could actually be causing those. But... I am not suggesting that you stop taking something if it is working... nor am I suggesting you stop taking the NSAIDS cold turkey or anything, that will put you into more pain...
Avatar f tn What is the best way to treat migraine, when you've taken the medicine your Dr. has given you, but it's not working? I take Relpax 40 mg., sometime it helps and sometime it doesn't.
1088430 tn?1259159773 I just want to say THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH! for all the time you have taken in offerring your advice! I can't tell you how much it's appreciated! I'm so sorry that you have been dealing with this (xcuse the vulgar word coming) **** for as long as you have! I truly sympathize. It's a very unselfish and great thing that you have extended yourself from your own painful bouts to try and help others (like me). I believe in how the good we do always comes back to us.
Avatar n tn I started having auditory hallucinations and was having migraine like headaches 2 years ago. My doctor put me anti psychotics and the hallucinations stopped. My headache got worse as time went by. Now my headaches are so bad that i can't do anything most of the time. It is almost constant and the intensity of the pain varies. Often times i just have to lie down.
Avatar f tn m desperate and have no Relpax, I take Naprosyn and Sudafed, which work somewhat. But these headaches can last for up to four days. Pain meds like Lortab are a complete waste of time: like killing an elephant with a flyswatter. If it were a pinched nerve, you'd think a hard-core narcotic would work...but it doesn't. Thanks for your help! Prayers to my fellow headache sufferers...I know I'd rather have the flu than a migraine headache (or whatever these things are).
Avatar f tn Hi and welcome to the Migraines & Headaches Community. That is not true. Who told you that? Rebound headaches are a result of OVERUSE of pain killers...Rx and OTC. You have to be taking the pain killers more than twice a week...for a very extended period of time. Or taking more than the directions say. You are most likely dealing with Cluster Migraines.
2048234 tn?1330814100 t remember how many days you have. I had rebound pain of some sort headaches included well beyond 30 days clean. I had a two week period where I really pondered living the rest of my life in pain and if I could but it did pass. I still have pain but not anywhere along the lines of those two weeks and it is manageable.
Avatar f tn t want anymore nuban because of the rebound headaches, I was there crying, literaly crying for help.
Avatar n tn My doctor recently prescribed KeppraXR for my seizure disorder and migraines. (However, one side effect is headaches??). It also helps lesson (not stop) some of my CM symptoms...pain, numbness, tingling, and stiffness in my legs, arms, neck and shoulders. I also use Relpax, as needed, for migraines (which has been on a daily basis for the past week..so much for the KeppraXR).
1088430 tn?1259159773 You might be able to fill both the Relpax and Sumatriptan prescription next month too and get both covered, since they are different medications... so, instead of only 6 covered doses of the Relpax, you might be able to get 6 covered doses of the Relpax + 6 covered doses of the Sumatriptan.
Avatar f tn I had hormonal headaches both times and took Fioricet. It helped so much! I still take it as needed - pms. Without it, I never would have made it 9 months and my doc saw that. My kids are 10 and 7 and perfectly healthy. 'Healthy, happy mommy..healthy, happy babies"!
Avatar f tn Welcome to MedHelp's fibro / CFS forum ! I have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and have struggled with migraines (mostly hormonal) for years. There are only two things that I have found that have knocked out my migraines.... massage therapy and a medication called, "Relpax". Relpax is very expensive (even with my co-pay --- $60), but it works wonders for my migraines.
Avatar f tn I am a 32 year old female, otherwise healthy until I started having chronic daily headaches 2 years ago. These headaches are ruining my life and I do not know what to do at this point. My physicians want to take me off of the only drug, fioricet, that is helping me due to the possibility of "rebound headaches".
341042 tn?1244776427 Hi everyone. I have been suffering from migraines for 4 years now. They have become chronic, I have either a severe headache or a migraine every day. I'm taking preventive medications-so far my neurologist & I have not been able to find the one that will work for me. My dr. also talked to me about rebound headaches, so I have tapered down my use of triptans and painkiller (I usually take Fiorinal).
Avatar f tn Your body adapts to the medication and the only way to stop rebound headaches is to reduce or stop taking the pain medication that's causing them. Within a week to 10 days, withdrawal symptoms and headaches may become less intense and less frequent. After you've broken the rebound headache cycle, you and your doctor can find a safer way to manage your headaches.
Avatar f tn I have tooken migraines preventives with no luck in getting lowering the amount of headaches I get. I do take regular meds like tylenol, advile and motrin. I can not link my headaches to any thing.
Avatar f tn I went back to healthcare facility beginning of 3rd week and was tested again for flu and this time blood work and chest x-ray. No infection and no prescriptions. Went straight to ER and they did MRI. No findings and was given another stack of meds to take for one week. This is the beginning of the 4th and I still feel soooo bad and still loss of voice.
Avatar n tn HI achilles2, Good to hear back from you. There is good research on one of the herbals I told you about. You will need to look it up on the internet as I got in trouble elsewhere for giving more info. I also use a skin gel that helps my mild to moderate headaches to prevent them from getting worse. The meds don't go into the blood stream, so it doesn't cause rebound headaches either.
1508698 tn?1360215710 It also comes as a self-injection (spring loaded) for when you are more nauseated and cannot keep a tablet down. My insurance used to cover Relpax which I think is milder and dissolves under your tongue, helping to prevent nausea. I'm sure there are all kinds now since the original Imitrix patent wore out. With any of these non-narcotics, you do need to take it easy and rest so your migraine doesn't come back.
Avatar f tn Yes and it really depends on what you're withdrawing from, If it's narcotics, you're probably having rebound headaches and very little help for those but an ice pack, Benadryl worked for me sometimes, stay away from Tylenol though or they will continue. I know your pain all too well.
559554 tn?1216642559 I have also tried Imitrex, Relpax, Maxalt, Atenolol, and now I am taking Topamax with Lamictal and I am maxed out on that at 200mg. I have explained to him that it is not migraine headaches you can not have migraines headaches everyday for 3 years finally he ordered an MRI this is the results from it and I am a little confused. Results: Ventricles and cerbrospinal fluid spaces are normal in size & configuration for the patient's age.
Avatar f tn As the others mentioned, too much ibuprofen can lead to rebound headaches and may cause harm to your liver. There is a migraine tracker here in Medhelp that may help. Take care and do keep us posted with your appointment. Warm regards.
Avatar m tn My husband has been diagnosed with migraines and cluster headaches for 20+ years and the cluster headaches are the worse. He is currently on triple treatment with incivek. His miracle drug for migraines & cluster headaches has been Relpax precsribed by his neurologist. During Incivek, he had to take Imitrex as relpax was contraindicated, and that helped too. For nausea he takes Phenergan. His neurologist also recommended Magnesium and CoQ10 enzyme.
