Common Questions and Answers about Relpax rebound headaches

relpax

Avatar m tn I am an 18 year old whose migraines usually rebound with Imitrex therapy. Which of the following is recommended?
Avatar n tn Did they instruct you that if you take too many Relpax in a week that you can have migraine rebound? I too have Relpax and my script says no more than 2/day and 3/week because if I do it could cause migraine rebound.
1034911 tn?1389546066 I will admit I have never heard of this but the caffeine does make sense. I have heard of rebound headaches if you rake Fiornal or Fiorcet for them. And you don't want to start that route. A migraine medicine like Imitrex could be helpful. Would a couple Motrins or maybe a soda or coffee help? Maybe take ease the caffeine affect some? Hopefully it will end soon. Good job getting through this.
Avatar n tn What you need to do at this point is to stop the pain cycle. You also need to avoid rebound headaches. So, it is important that you really focus on these two things. First, you need to stop the pain cycle. You need to do this by finding a medication that really stops the migraine. It sounds like the relpax isn't really doing this...
1088430 tn?1259159773 (Sorry in advance for length; from desperation)6yr hist. what thought was "chronic sinus headaches" that triggered handul migraines per month.4yrs ago rough patch chronic migraines lead to 4 months worth doc appts, ct scans, mri, neurosurgeon ref, due to what they thought "AVM".Artialgram b/f laser surgery showed "not there".Thankful, but so over all that wasted dead end time, cancelled foll up with reg neur.
Avatar f tn m desperate and have no Relpax, I take Naprosyn and Sudafed, which work somewhat. But these headaches can last for up to four days. Pain meds like Lortab are a complete waste of time: like killing an elephant with a flyswatter. If it were a pinched nerve, you'd think a hard-core narcotic would work...but it doesn't. Thanks for your help! Prayers to my fellow headache sufferers...I know I'd rather have the flu than a migraine headache (or whatever these things are).
2048234 tn?1330814100 t remember how many days you have. I had rebound pain of some sort headaches included well beyond 30 days clean. I had a two week period where I really pondered living the rest of my life in pain and if I could but it did pass. I still have pain but not anywhere along the lines of those two weeks and it is manageable.
775732 tn?1246125144 now relying on benicar/ prophylaxis; botox injections every 3 mos.; relpax -prn; narc if needed -compazine for nausea; I also have seizures that I take lg dose of topamax for. Have checked for rebound...but not the case. Have done migraine diet; I see my neuro every 3 mos. I feel for all of you - I figure sooner or later, someone will come across something that will help. But I know there are worse things...
Avatar f tn t want anymore nuban because of the rebound headaches, I was there crying, literaly crying for help.
Avatar n tn Hi... can anyone tell me what they use for medicines... I don't react well to the typical meds they prescribe for Chiari... My main pains are headaches, neck pain, hand pain. I've heard of people using excederin migraine.. I have been taking advil for several months and would like to stop taking it... if I could find a replacement. What anti depressants has anyone had success with? Also. how is everyone dealing with the medical bills?
1088430 tn?1259159773 t cover your entire Relpax prescription, I am posting a link to a coupon for $15 off of your Relpax prescriptions. You apparently can't use this coupon if you have any sort of federal or state insurance, or if your private insurance covers 100% of the prescription. Otherwise, you can print this coupon and use it every time you fill your Relpax prescription (but it expires next April).
Avatar f tn I am a 32 year old female, otherwise healthy until I started having chronic daily headaches 2 years ago. These headaches are ruining my life and I do not know what to do at this point. My physicians want to take me off of the only drug, fioricet, that is helping me due to the possibility of "rebound headaches".
341042 tn?1244776427 Hi everyone. I have been suffering from migraines for 4 years now. They have become chronic, I have either a severe headache or a migraine every day. I'm taking preventive medications-so far my neurologist & I have not been able to find the one that will work for me. My dr. also talked to me about rebound headaches, so I have tapered down my use of triptans and painkiller (I usually take Fiorinal).
Avatar f tn Taking pain medication more than two or three days a week, may actually be contributing to the headaches rather than easing them. This is known as rebound headaches. Your body adapts to the medication and the only way to stop rebound headaches is to reduce or stop taking the pain medication that's causing them. Within a week to 10 days, withdrawal symptoms and headaches may become less intense and less frequent.
Avatar f tn Hi, Thank you for the question. For persistent headaches, possibilities like migrainous, cluster, tension and refractive errors that need to be evaluated thoroughly with the help of a neurologist here. Migraine like headache can be throbbing, one sided of face & head and preceded by aura (starts with blurred vision). Cluster headache may appear as burning, explosive in nature and tear appears from eyes. Tension headache originates with stress and anxiety disorder.
Avatar f tn Hello, I have had the most awful headaches for 4 weeks now with loss of voice as well. I went to doctor at the beginning of the second week and was tested for flu and strep. Dr felt I was developing Bronchitis and treated me with antibiotics. The headaches are the worse ever. They stop me in my tracks, literally. At night the headache gets more intense when I try to turn over and causes me to have to sit up instead of lying down. My head feels as if I move too quick it will explode.
Avatar n tn HI achilles2, Good to hear back from you. There is good research on one of the herbals I told you about. You will need to look it up on the internet as I got in trouble elsewhere for giving more info. I also use a skin gel that helps my mild to moderate headaches to prevent them from getting worse. The meds don't go into the blood stream, so it doesn't cause rebound headaches either.
1508698 tn?1360215710 hi sorry you are having the headaches...i used to get them as well....luckily i haven't had one in a long time....i've read that Imitrex isn't a narcotic so maybe ask about that?? i don't know anything about it, never taken it but a friend of mine did....and when i had them, i took Excedrin Migraine..otc...it seemed to help. hope you feel better soon!!
Avatar f tn Yes and it really depends on what you're withdrawing from, If it's narcotics, you're probably having rebound headaches and very little help for those but an ice pack, Benadryl worked for me sometimes, stay away from Tylenol though or they will continue. I know your pain all too well.

Avatar n tn For about 8 weeks now, I have been having frontal headaches will some visual disturbances, mild vertigo (feeling like I just got off a boat), eye socket tenderness, and one pupil that recently seems to constantly be adjusting its size even when there is no change in light. I also sometimes feel groggy or spaced out. My doctor initally had me treat this like a sinus infection, but it doesn't seem to respond to Claritin, Claritin-D, or Sudafed. Then I was sent to an ENT.
Avatar f tn Call your Dr and ask him if he can administer an infusion of DHE (migraine specific)\ Even though migraine meds are not addictive they can very easily cause rebound severe headaches if abused. These include Triptans such as imitrex, relpax, etc as well as OTC drugs and opiods. Stay away from quick fixes You have got to get on preventative meds that work.
Avatar f tn I started in my teens and by ur age was also having migraines , muscle contraction headaches and tension headaches, everyday . I am now 68 and still plagued with daily headaches. In another chronic pain forum people suggested asking my doctor to add a muscle relaxer to my meds. I have been taking Flexeril twice a day and think it has helped. I generally have more hours in a day with no headache or less of a headache.
