Relpax in pregnancy

Common Questions and Answers about Relpax in pregnancy

relpax

Avatar m tn My 18 year old son has terrible migraines and has tried the Imitrex also with terrible results. He has been using the Relpax and within 20 to 30 mins and only one Relpax pill the headache is gone! He suffered so many years wiht Migraines and now with his dose of Nortriptylin and his relpax as a backup he is living headache free. Definitely try the Relpax.
Avatar n tn Did they instruct you that if you take too many Relpax in a week that you can have migraine rebound? I too have Relpax and my script says no more than 2/day and 3/week because if I do it could cause migraine rebound.
Avatar f tn I had a similar problem with Maxalt (a drug in the same class as Relpax-they are both triptans). My insurance would only cover 12 pills, and I need more. My doctor filled out the necessary paperwork for my insurance co., saying I need more than "typically alotted". The pharmacy division of your insurance co. can give you more info. If that's not possible, have you tried another triptan? Maxalt, Imitrex, and Relpax all work for my migraines. Good luck!
Avatar n tn Right now i am only taking Relpax for migraines. I have a headache almost everyday of the week and a migraine 2-3 times per month. I only take the Relpax during my migraines and may take tylenol, ibuprofen, or excedrin for my headace without any relief. My MD had spoken with me about taking medicine daily to prevent the occurence of my migraines. I really do not want to take another daily med because I want to have a baby in the next couple of years.
Avatar n tn Verickson, thank-you for the med info. I never heard of RELPAX, but I'll talk to my doctor. I too have no health insurance, so choices sometimes are limited. I buy a couple meds from Canadadrugsonline.com to get a price I can afford. I looked up both the Imitrex and the Relpax and was horrified they are so expensive even in Canada. So I know for certain I can't get the here in US.
Avatar f tn Hi, I'm a supposed migraine sufferer (without aura) and my headaches usually line up with my menstrual cycles. However, as a 48-year-old, I'm experiencing irregular cycles now, which makes my headaches that much more unpredictable.
Avatar f tn ve also read something about soaking your feet in hot water (just keeping your feet warm in general), or even running your hands under hot water. It has something to do with drawing blood from your head. I personally haven't tried that one, but I'm going to keep it in mind. I can't really think of anything else that I've tried, other than a big cup of coffee and a dark quiet room. Good luck!
1508698 tn?1360215710 I too suffer from migraines, but a bit more frequently than you. The first med I tried was Imitrex, which made me very sick to my stomach. I couldn't keep it down. I tried Frova, which just didn't work. Then I tried Relpax, and that was the ticket. Keep in mind that all 3 are triptans, but that doesn't mean they are the same either. The Relpax I take makes me incredibly tired, but not sick to my stomach, and it takes care of the migraine within 30 mins.
Avatar n tn so much for the KeppraXR). Relpax is the only thing I have found in the past 8 years that works (it turns my migraines back into plain old headaches). I am still trying to pay my medical bills on my own...I constacted five organizations that assist with medical bills...all said they are no longer able to help...donations are down. What is 'pronex'?
Avatar n tn I have had migraines for ten years and I take relpax at the onset of a headache, sometimes though it gets to be too often and I cannot take relpax anymore than 3 times a week I know that my neck has quite a lot of knots and i get a lot of pain from my back especially neck before a migraine and I do believe they start from there. Does anyone know if physical therapy help migraines? can anyone help in pointing me towards the right thing?
Avatar f tn Been on a lot of different meds and nothing seems to truly work. If my headache is an actual migraine, then relpax does work for me. However, I've been having this pressure at the top of my head for weeks now and it has gotten much worse. When I take relpax for it, it makes it a little better, but not 100%. The pain sometimes goes behind my eyes and then I can't even do my job..which is computer related. Now is pain has moved to the back of my head to the right side behind my ear.
Avatar f tn While at the hospital I experienced vomiting, sensitivity to light, my blood oxygen level (in the 70s) and blood pressure were low. From the beginning I have also been experiencing a chill but no fever. I was treated for the migraine and released. My blood oxygen levels went up and my blood pressure showed improvement although both were still low. I have not had the headache, diarrhea, or vomiting but remain weak, dizzy, and very cold.
Avatar f tn Dr felt I was developing Bronchitis and treated me with antibiotics. The headaches are the worse ever. They stop me in my tracks, literally. At night the headache gets more intense when I try to turn over and causes me to have to sit up instead of lying down. My head feels as if I move too quick it will explode. I went back to healthcare facility beginning of 3rd week and was tested again for flu and this time blood work and chest x-ray. No infection and no prescriptions.
Avatar f tn t think to ask why the increase. I will ask this during my next visit, but in the meantime am wondering if anyone had had a similar situation or may offer any info. Thank you and best wishes for a great day.
397977 tn?1201264847 Almost 26 had my first baby, only had one or 2 migraines during my pregnancy. Then during labor (huge change in hormones) I had a mega migraine in the hospital. Then slipped back into my monthly migraines plus in between and heavier periods. Had my second baby at age 29 and started getting heavier and heavier periods and migraine after migraine. Finally, so heavy I became anemic and they wanted to put me back on birth control. I reluctantly tried it, I was asking for a hysterectomy.
Avatar f tn I have FM and Migraines. I have not had the extended damage to my neck that you have but I have had damage several times in the form of dislocation, subluxations and worn cushion (?) between two vertebrae in my neck. I've had migraines since I was young from hormonal changes, then pregnancy, in my 30's they came with more frequency and now with the FM they came at least 4 times a week avg. I am post menopause 6 years so it is definitely not hormonal. I have FM now diagnosed 12 years.
Avatar f tn My husband was perscribed Cymbalta along with Imitrex and Relpax for migranes. He went into a coma and had to be on a respirator in ICU for 3 days. Is this seretonin syndrome? The doctor claimed it was just a coma brought on by an intese migrane! Weird, Huh?
Avatar f tn I currentlly take ibuprofen almost daily as relpax for my migrianes when needed one with a shot of sumatriptan (immetrex) injected in my leg when the relpax fails to work. Those are only acute meds and have to b taken wisely so I use them sparingly. I only get ten pills a month anyways.iv also had 6 nerves burned on left side of neck and an occipital nerve block in skull. Both worked very minimally. I go see a headache specialist next week.
507619 tn?1211845850 i had been a migraine sufferer for 20 years....there are very specific migraine meds out there if you have TRUE migraines (imitrex, relpax, all that kinda stuff)....i got started on the hydros due to chronic daily tension headaches but never really used the hydros for my migraines....only used the prescribed migraine med....just don't try to convince yourself that the codeine/hydros are working to take away your migraines....cuz they really aren't....that's what all the imitrex, etc.
Avatar f tn I dont know if I should call the Dr and ask him if I should start taking 150mg or does anyone think its too early to say (3 wks) I take relpax when they get real bad and that works great, but 4 hrs later...BAM, the pain!!!! So, question is should I call the Dr and suggest or wait until I see him on Feb 21!!!...THANX!
1035252 tn?1427227833 Well I did it...shaking and all..but I woke up this morning with a headache so bad I threw up for 45 minutes straight and all the blinds are drawn in my house...it's nearly 10AM and I still haven't woken my kids because I hurt so bad...and yes I know I'm blessed that they'll sleep this late, lol.... at any rate, I called...and I got the nice receptionist...she's going to have the dr call me later today...crossing my fingers.
Avatar n tn My doctor has diagnosed me with migraines ( I get them about every two weeks now and am on my second medication to try and help with them- Relpax had no affect) but this headache is more like a tension headache. I have noticed that there are two spots on my forehead that seem very sensitive to pressure. They are right along my hairline on the right and left top of my forehead. Has anyone else experienced anything like this.
Avatar f tn Looking down and relaxing my eye helps. Also, my doc ruled out migraine. I get those and Relpax work fine for them, but not for this. Anybody have any experience with this? Thanks!
Avatar f tn Hello, I have SLE Lupus, Behcet's and Hypothyroid. I have been experiencing migraines for years. The doctors have tried the anti-seizure meds on me but I don't tolerate them. My doctor won't let me take beta blockers because of a severe reaction to them. I currently am on amitriptyline, but it doesn't prevent them well. I currently take relpax and it does well but they only want me to take it 3 times a week and I'm having daily migraines.
