however, I clenched my teeth very bad on Prozac--especially at the highest dose. I changed to Lexapro and I still clench but not every single day. My teeth get sore from clenching. I had teeth clenching before the drugs, but anti-dpression mediction can worsen it. Hope this helps.

I have been taking SSRI's since 1991(originally Prozac now Effexor XR). I have tried to go off them a couple of times and my symptoms of depression always return. One of the reasons I have tried to go off them is that they intensify my teeth clenching at night and I wake up fatigued. I was also been perscribed clonazopam back in 1991 for sleep. Are their any SSRI's that don't agrivate this condition? I am also very dissapointed that I have to be dependent on these drugs.

Ok I was prescribed prozac around my 13wk mark because I developed peripartum depression. I was told I would probably only be on it for a month or two because my doc thought my hormones were going a little crazier than they should. It's been 14wks now that I've been on it and I want off of it. I'm getting angry easily, very hateful, so irritable, to put it bluntly I f*cking hate everyone around me. I have been on lexapro for 10 days. Since I started taking it I am getting terrible teeth clenching at night while I sleep. Has anyone had this problem? Does it go away after my body adjust to the medicne. I also get body twitches while i start to fall asleep from the lexapro. The lexapro seems to be helping but I can't stand biting my tongue and clenching my teeth every night. I have an over the counter mouth guard. It is uncomfortable to sleep with but it helps.

Sounds much like a Somatoform disorder - look that up it might be interesting to you. The most common side effect of Prozac is feeling tired followed by clenching your teeth/jaw. You might experience nausea for the first two weeks but this can be reduced by taking your medication with food. You might notice headaches and a sore jaw - you might need to buy a mouth guard at some point to wear at night so that you don't grind your teeth while you sleep. Hope that helps.

I dont want to start the Prozac again if this is temporary. Have any of you stopped taking Prozac (I was taking 20 mgs per day) and not had any problems for a few weeks then noticed the old problems again? I also stopped taking a benzo about 2 months ago and had little problems, the small dose of Prozac was my last med. When I woke up about an hour ago I did take one, I did not know what else to do.

The half life of these drugs is so long that it must all be just in mind) Got through yesterday by the skin of my teeth but today is another story. Took this last cut after 2 weeks (13mgs to 12mgs) and I was not really feeling too good anyway but because my wife wants to go away in our Motor-Home for a week from next week-end and I knew If I didn't make that cut this week then it would run to a month and that is too long.

Since he went to school, he started having major problems like reluctant to do classwork and homework, "forgetting" to bring his homework home majority of times. In the kindergarten his behavior was good.

While I am not currently on Prozac, I did take it years ago and it worked very well for me. I took klonopin, a different benzo, without a problem as well. I'm not sure what side effects you were having that you are trying to avoid. I currently take Wellbutrin. It has not made me gain weight and it has not affected my sex life like so many of the other anti-depressants. Just a thought in case you need to go down the road of another med. Take care.

I am on my 4th day of prozac 10mg.....feel spacy a little dizzy and lightheaded, no appetite is this normal? my doc doesn't even think i am depressed and didn't want to prescribe...I have multiple physical symptoms with no diagnosis and wanted to try an antidepressant. I can't say that some of these symptoms were not happening before I started the drug... I just haven't felt right in such a long time...

I have seen commercials that say Prozac and a list of other antidepressants could cause birth defects. But just like any other medicine, I would talk to your doctor about it.

I have been on Prozac20 mg for almost 9yrs, Wellbutrin 300 mg bid for about 5 yrs , and Aderrall 30mg SR for 2 yrs. For the last 4yrs i have experienced significant memory loss, word finding difficult, decreased concentration, night sweats and still feel depressed. The Aderall no longer works. I think the Prozac is causing the memory problems and brain fog. My providers says it's not the Prozac. I'm thinking of weaning myself off the prozac first and then the Adderall.

I took Prozac 20mg for 12 years, started out OK, it gave me lots of energy, I couldn't stop talking and I am a quiet person. Reasons for taking it soon resolved themselves, but I kept taking the meds, big mistake!! I noticed I was always hot when others were not, I would sweat even with moderate activity, never wore a jacket no matter how cold. My vision began to get worse, had to have glasses for reading and driving, I began to have hearing problems, turn the TV up more and more.

Has anyone taking prozac experienced a foggy headed feeling? It started off with dizziness when I was at 10 mg, but now it is more of a feeling like my head is clouded up (recently stated 20mg).
