Common Questions and Answers about Prozac for ptsd

prozac

Avatar f tn I dont like anything about Prozac for a guy like me. maybe it works for others with different Issues. but I say anything related to anger or PTSD, my opinion is Prozac isnt the answer.
Avatar f tn I have Chronic Hep C too-Genotype 1 & am interested in Vertex. Do you or does anyone know anything about this trtmnt yet?! I think it still needs to be passed by the FDA. Zoloft made me more angry in the past & gave me the runs after a week being on it. I was on Paxil after that & that didn't work either. I think I found the right anxiety/depression(I have both-PTSD). I'm on Prozac 20mg. I've been feeling better, but this week am pretty down ugh :-( .
Avatar m tn I have been on prozac since the mid 1990's for PTSD and never had any indication of dysautonomia until June of last year. I don't think prozac is a cause for my dysautonomia. BUT that is me. You could be completely different. I do know that my wife has, in the past, taken some of the same drugs I do now. They caused miserable side effects for her and, apparently, none for me. Everyone is different. I think it is best to consult your doctor.

Avatar m tn I have a very bad anxiety problem. I was diagnosed with PTSD and anxiety. I've been on 80 mg of Prozac for years. One day I feel great then I'll slump in depression or very angry. This lasts days. My doctor is weening me off Prozac and started 10 mg of lexapro for a week then I increase to 20 mg and still dropping the dose of Prozac daily. Can I take the lexapro in the a.m. with my other pills? It says to take lexapro at night but what's the difference.

Avatar f tn Thank you hun for your comment,im going to try and avoid taking them for aslong as i can. I have my prescription so if i really need them, ill get them from the chemist.
Avatar f tn Just remember if you stick with it 2mg is very low for prozac, most people start at 10mg for their starting dose, and it can take up to 8 weeks to kick in.
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with Major depression for the past 15 years. Also have PTSD, and anxiety issues. Recently attempted suicide, did not succeed. Following a switch from paxil to prozac over the past few weeks. Have been having really strange symptoms of feeling that I could fly to intense anger back to despondency. Having strange impulsive thoughts that are out of character for me.
Avatar f tn I've been recently diagnosed with PTSD when I thought I just have severe anxiety. I have been taking Xanax and I took my last one yesterday at 6pm and I'm suppose to be taking zyprexa and I scared to because I have Xanax in my system and have never tried zyprexa.

1021784 tn?1306363011 Latuda is class B pregnancy category, rather than class Cs like the SSRIs (Prozac, Lexapro and the like). I suspect that this will lead to increased uses for depression, ocd, and other conditions etc. in pregnant women.
Avatar n tn Why the weight gain on these anit d's is it because you are so relaxed? Does Prozac have the same effect? I know 3 people on Prozac and they are skinny......I don't want to gain weight.
Avatar f tn My son was murdered in Jan, 2005 and I've since been treated and diagnosed with PTSD - however, I was previously being treated for depression. When I was tested last year the psychologist stated that I had severe depression, with PTSD & severe anxiety and panic disease with possible OCD and maybe some personality disorder.
1243620 tn?1274790697 s whats going on with me, please tell me. I have been having severe anxiety and panic attacks for months now. I started Prozac (10mg) 2 nights ago along with Clonazepam (.5mg). Today I was crying uncontrollably in bed because I was panicing about being alive and having to live one more day. I am so angry that I feel like I'm going to scream and punch someone or run through a window. I am so on edge and angry and I don't know what for, it's so bad I don't know what to do.
Avatar n tn Are you in the US, or somewhere else in the world? What type of therapy are you receiving? I have Generalized Anxiety Disorder and I've seen therapists for years in the field of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and I also received 12 weeks of treatment for PTSD. I'm on Clonopin too, just switched from Xanax. Honestly, I am not impressed with it as far as meds go. Xanax is a nightmare that I had to get away from.
Avatar f tn I too have been diagnosed with PTSD, Panic Disorder, Clinical Depression, Anxiety, also Major Depressive Disorder. I have taken various drugs for such as Prozac which I took for a couple of years and then weaned myself off when I felt I no longer needed it. Sometimes I begin to get so depressed, for I miss my son so much! And then I begin thinking that maybe I sould go back on the Prozac to numb myself out again. But then the depression begins to lighten a bit and I change my mind.
Avatar f tn My husband is the poster-child for PTSD and only sought help for it less than two years ago. I was already seeing a pain psychologist who also specializes in PTSD, so I kind of got the ball rolling for him by example. Had I not established the relationship with the shrink first, he never would have done it on his own. It was just a very lucky accident that we found her. PTSD isn't something that can be fixed with a pill.
Avatar f tn I am tapering off of 80 mgs of Prozac. I have been on iProzac for 3 months. While taking it I had diarreha but thought it would, eventually go,away.,well, it didn't,so,I am,getting off of it. My question is, now I am down to 20 mgs. And according to my doctor, I will go down to 10 mgs in two days. And stay on 10"for a week and then stop completely. How long should,I expect this terrible diarreha,to last? I mean it is bad!
459981 tn?1212193981 Not that I might not need something along with it later on but right now it works for me. Prozac worked for 10 years no problems and then it stopped working and I went on Cymbalta for a few years then it wasn't helping my depression and I was re-diagnosed then. I feel much better now.
559024 tn?1215807847 I wish you a fast recovery from your accident, and wish you serenity and acceptance with your PTSD! Thanks for all you have done for me and this country of ours. Thanks for keeping my kids safe!
Avatar f tn The best advice I can give you is to BEAT THIS NOW! Dont let the anxiety take over like it did for me for 4 years. your tests were normal remember that!
569026 tn?1216982293 Taken several SSRIs in the past for anxiety. Adderall XR for ADD, Wellbutrin too. I have been seeing a therapist for about 4 months and he had me go for a psychiatry evaluation a few days ago. The two concrred that I am "complex" and could be a combination of BiPolar 2, Adult ADD and even...Borderline Personality Disorder (god I hate that name). Anyhow, one of the main symptoms we all agreed upon was the mood swings.

Avatar m tn My Doctor suggested I increase my dosage of fluoxetine 20mg to 40 mgs for a month, do you think this may help? And I remember she said I should take double pills of 20mgs in the morning, would that lead to make me become schizophrenic or paranoid or cause me another mental illness? Please answer me I need to start increasing..
