I'm just wondering what Prozac is and what it actually does to help anxiety/depression. Can you get buy it over-the-counter, or is it prescription-only?
you think so,i have been on prozac since march ttrying totaper off but got scared cause going to alaska,so dr said drop back to 10 mg of prozzac well im not going down to 10 mg ffrom 40 mg in one day i was freaking from cutting back from 50 to 40,,,i will wait till after vacation..some say u dont have to taper off prozac but i have been on it since march 2 and evn my pharmasist said that would be to much off a drop for me as i freak out so much..
My cat is a meower. She is nonstop. I took her to the vet and he gave her prozac but that made very little difference in the meowing and she is now pretty antisocial. What concerns me is that she meows using the litter box. I just wondering if she might be in pain because the meow sounds different than her normal meowing.
Hello, I hope your days are going well. I started taking 20mg of Prozac for the first time today. My sister's boyfriend pointed out that I had some redness on the sides of neck; it feels slightly itchy and slightly burning. I noticed an itchy scalp as well, but it's only been a few hours. When I took it, it was with ibuprofen for some leg pain (400 mg). I couple of days ago I also started out on Amoxicillin 500mg, Sudogest 120mg, and some Ofloxacin ear drops for my ear/sinus infection.
I had sweating with Effexor and Cymbalta. It's not just the discomfort; you don't want to add sweating if you already have oily skin - breakouts. I think Prozac caused it, but I'm not sure. I'm currently getting by with a very low dose of amitriptyline. Not a lot of sweating with it, but it can cause weight gain and constipation. I need to gain weight right now, so it's okay.
My TSH runs low-below normal.... but so does my fT4...?
last results: TSH=0.41, FT4=0.55.
I know that both of these levels are for the most part in the 'normal' range, but with my symptoms, could this be a pituitary problem?
My symptoms are more 'hypo' than 'hyper'thyroid: Fatigue no matter how much sleep I get, terrible cold intolerance, and depression are the most troublesome. (On Prozac for the depression).
My son started taking 10 mg of Prozac in mid January for anxiety and it has helped. But about 3-4 weeks into taking the Prozac he started having severe stomach pains. He has had x-rays and blood work which are all normal. Doctors think he was impacted with stool and did an enema followed up with Miralax for a couple of weeks but his stomach pain has continued and he is in pain every day to varying degrees.
Is it dangerous to change abruptly to Pristiq after 2 weeks of 80 mg Prozac? I have read Prozac stays in your system for over a week, and am concerned that Pristiq will cause serotonin syndrome. I have read so many things in depression forums that am more confused and insecure than ever. Some people report gaining 30 pounds in less than 6 months with Efexxor and Pristiq.
Whenever I'm about to leave the house (which isn't very often considering my agoraphobia) my stomach hurts horribly? Is there any way to not have stomach pain? I'm on Prozac but it doesn't help. I was wondering if there are any home remedies I guess you could say.
I've had a variety of symptoms for 6-8 years. Specialists believed it was "something autoimmune" but had no definite diagnosis. This year old symptoms are worse with new symptoms. I have memory & word-finding problems, falling frequently, heat intolerance, sleeplessness, nightmares with only occasional flashes of memory about them, & constipation with some diarrhea.
Here are the meds I am own - Questran - 1 packet for irritable bowl, Prozac for OCD, Allergy Injections, Methyldopa for blood pressure, and Trilipix for Triglycerides (nearly 1000), and Vitamin D. I am only 30!! I am overwieght but work hard to get rid of it with little or no results. They even checked me for Cushings. My TSH is low at 0.3 and I have a Goiter but no known thyroid problem. I have acne. Anyone know what could be causing my heartburn to be so severe?
Metamucil which is fiber can cause gas and bloating. Bright red blood is most often due to hemorrhoids or a small tear in the anus. But anytime we see blood in our stool we need to have the cause determined by a Gastroenterologist to be on the safe side to to ease our mind. You suffer with anxiety and don't need more to worry about. I truly feel it's hemorroids or an anal tear, but you need to have a doctor determine this for sure.
I am on my 4th day of prozac 10mg.....feel spacy a little dizzy and lightheaded, no appetite is this normal? my doc doesn't even think i am depressed and didn't want to prescribe...I have multiple physical symptoms with no diagnosis and wanted to try an antidepressant. I can't say that some of these symptoms were not happening before I started the drug... I just haven't felt right in such a long time...
I have seen commercials that say Prozac and a list of other antidepressants could cause birth defects. But just like any other medicine, I would talk to your doctor about it.
I have been on Prozac20 mg for almost 9yrs, Wellbutrin 300 mg bid for about 5 yrs , and Aderrall 30mg SR for 2 yrs. For the last 4yrs i have experienced significant memory loss, word finding difficult, decreased concentration, night sweats and still feel depressed. The Aderall no longer works. I think the Prozac is causing the memory problems and brain fog. My providers says it's not the Prozac. I'm thinking of weaning myself off the prozac first and then the Adderall.
