967168 tn?1477584489 Hope everyone is well....It's been awhile; been moving so I've been gone for about 6 mths...so my question is - how do you know when it's time for a dosage increase? I've been Propranolol for 3 years now and went on 60mg twice daily last year my last cardiologist tried 120mg once daily but it was too strong I don't know if it's from the stress of house hunting, moving and unpacking or both but my meds just do nothing except make me sleep any more.
Avatar n tn I started taking such medication since then, and recently I have got to know that the main compound, propranolol, present in these medicine pills, is also used to treat PTSD which is a cure for the said, by erasing memory of the patient. i am just concerned for the fact that the prolonged use of propranolol might cause any sort of memory loss to me. Kindly advise me in this regard.
Avatar m tn if i stop propranolol my desease get worse,is there any other medicine to take for hand tremor or should i consult a docter soon. is this becourese or propranolol. please be kind enough to answer my question .
Avatar f tn Of course all blood work came back ok and I didnt have a heart attack but they said that when I just casually walk my heart rate is to high so they put me on Propranolol. I had a bad bout with Amytriptaline 3 years ago and Ive never taken any meds but 1 since out of fear of dying. Since I have been on the med things are much better but its like my heart is fighting the meds to skip. I just feel uncomfortable and still out of breath when I walk.
Avatar m tn I used to take a slow-release Propranolol 80 mg every day, which caused severe tiredness and extreme fatigue, to the point that I was not able to think straight and sometimes could not even get out of bed. Apparently, Propranolol also inhibits the ability for you to burn fat, not to mention gastrointestinal issues. Depression is also significantly higher when taking Propranolol.
Avatar n tn Sertraline and other Selective Serotonin Re-uptake Inhibitors (SSRIs) inhibit a certain enzyme which usually metabolizes Propranolol. Due to this inhibition, Propranolol action may be enhanced. But it will not be appropriate to look at this isolated piece of information and ignore other evidences. We do have a lot of trials and reviews exploring the combination. There is no conclusive evidence which allows us to deem this combination unacceptable.
Avatar m tn thanks for the suggestion, will you please give me the proper name for the medicine, i mean brand or name of medicine. and also the doses.
Avatar f tn Why on earth were you on a beta-blocker (Heart medicine, Propranolol) for a sore throat? Someone made a mistake.. I would seek help Immediately. Though 2 weeks of propranolol wouldn't hurt you I would say you could probably have Incurred a bad side effect from the Propranolol.
778037 tn?1377986200 how long does it take for this to start working? Is it days, weeks? I have been taking it since Thursday and no relief yet. I will give it time...

Avatar f tn My son David has been sick with hyperthyroide for almost 3 years. He is taking methomazole and propranolol. he is not married and has no children, so we say 'no' to radioactive treatment. Avatar f tn f 56, past 39 years i am taking sleeping pills, now my pdoc has added propranolol 10 mg. i also take olanzipine and fluoxetine combo. i have hypothyroidism and am overweight. my family doesn't talk to me and i have no friends my niece has threatened to finish me. i am very scared. i heard that propranolol causes memory loss. if so how wil i cope with creeping old age.
Avatar f tn I also stopped taking the Cymbalta and think that most of my depression is being brought on by knowing I am addicted to pain medicine. As for the Propranolol...this medicine is for a fast, irregular heartbeat...but I am taking them as a beta blocker for migraines and I do have to mix them with my pain medicine. If I go just one day and don't take them, I end up with a migraine the very next day....so those I have to mix.
Avatar f tn Hello, I recently gave birth to my son 4 weeks ago and during my pregnancy I was put on Propranolol 20mg twice a day to help lower my blood pressure and also because I was having panic attacks that would cause heart palpitations. Now fast forward to now I recently have been having heart palpitations resting, lying down, standing up too fast, sitting down too fast, bending over, you name it I’ve been been having them consistently throughout the day.
Avatar f tn I am a 46-year-old female who takes propranolol 10 mg twice a day for BP and HR. For the past 3 days, my blood pressure has run around 150/101 and I have this awful headache where I feel like my head is going to explode. I'm not stressed, nothing has changed diet-wise. I haven't missed any of my medicine. Should I call my doctor or is this normal and will work itself out?
Avatar n tn I've been given propranolol 10 mg to help control alleged SVT's or tachycardia, possibly topped off with a little anxiety.. What I'm wondering is , is it Okay / reasonable / safe / recommended to take this drug simply on as "as needed" basis...For example, can I take one before I go out of the house to last me, and just not take anymore for days, maybe take one a week, or 2 a day, mixing and matching....is it okay to treat this drug like that?

Avatar f tn Has anyone tried PROPRANOLOL for prevention of Migraines? I have struggled with headaches almost every day & Migraines aprox every 7-10 days for the last 10 years. Feverfew has helped but they now seem to be getting worst so I was thinking of asking my GP if I could try Propranolol.
4155003 tn?1351614311 ive bin on propranolol for about 12weeks & weaned myself down to 10ml every other day, i took 10ml propranolol 52hours ago & not going to take another one as im ready to stop. when will it be fully out my system?
Avatar f tn I have been given propranolol to take as I have had continuous palpitations since monday and my heartrate has randomly shooting up in the 100's (not related to posture!!) These will also help with my bp, it has been creeping up. I have had these in the past but was more recently on bisoprolol. Which is more common for POTS symptoms? I was in A&E last night and back at my GP's this morning. I have been refered back to the cardiologist who is going to see me in november.
Avatar f tn I've been taking Propranolol for high blood pressure and tachycardia(10mg at 8am, 2pm, and 8pm) for about 18 days now, and four days ago I woke up feeling quite dizzy. Since then it seemed to get better, but now I feel lethargic, dizzy, and generally unwell. Is it my drug? Note: I'm a 15-year-old male.
Avatar n tn Non-selective beta-blockers, such as propranolol act on both types of receptors, in both heart and lungs. Propranolol and other medicines in its class are capable of evoking bronchospasm in people with asthma. Metoprolol is selective, but not entirely so; thus, asthma worsens in some people given this “selective” medicine and you may be one of them. Your doctor may have prescribed the metoprolol for both relief of the syncope and treatment of your hypertension.
1494095 tn?1288784877 I recently posted that I was on propranolol 2x day for the heart palpitations associated with Graves Disease, I have been on the meds for 4 days (today is day # 4), not only has this not stopped the palpitations but they've INCREASED, and the discomfort i causes is getting much harder to bear. How long should it take before the propranolol begins working?

988694 tn?1332359479 He gave me Nortriptyline 20 mg to take every night. I have not taken the medicine first because he said I should probably had to take it for the next two years!!! and then I started to read about the side effects and I did not like them either. This is a medication to prevent headaches and also for depression which I don't have. Anybody here take it? does it interfere with my thyroid medication?
Avatar n tn Also, I have Lupus that is in remission. I am taking Methimazole and Propranolol. My doctor wants me to take the medicine for 3 months and then do the radioactive iodine treatment. I am leaning towards the surgery because of already having Lupus. Is there anyone out there who has Lupus and has had either one of their treatments?
