Avatar f tn * Surgery to remove part of the liver, including the hemangioma. In some cases, surgeons may need to remove a portion of your liver along with the hemangioma. * Procedures to stop blood flow to the hemangioma. Your surgeon may recommend stopping blood flow through the main artery to the hemangioma. Blood flow can be stopped by tying off the artery (hepatic artery ligation) or injecting medication into the artery to block it (arterial embolization).
Avatar f tn Mostly they improve or regress completely with time, so there is no need for specific treatment in most cases. In some specific cases where treatment is require, the mode of treatment includes external compression therapy, topical steroids , topical antiseptics like Eosin, which also has antiangiogenic properties, high dose oral corticosteroids , propranolol, vascular laser therapy and medicines like vincristine and imiquimod .
Avatar f tn so my question then is, if not a hemangioma, what else could it be? Of the 5 lesions, only 2 were characterized as hemangioma, 1 was too small to characterize, 1 was either a hemangioma or venous varix (not sure what that is either), and the other I have described above...I'm very concerned for obvious reasons, I still feel ill and I'm being told by doctors that I have harmless benign hemangiomas yet the biggest has yet to be identified.
Avatar n tn Hi Based on the image, this does appear to be vascular in origin. It appears cystic as it contains fluid based on its shiny exterior. It also appears to be well demarcated. I would think of hemangioma as a primary differential here. Its location may suggest that you need to have this removed. In your child's case, the hemangioma is noted on the eye region. Also, it appears to be growing .This would suggest that surgical excision is necessary.
Avatar f tn I have had numerous MRIs for back problems over the years. I had MRI last week that now shows Hemiangiomas in L3 (Multiple). Should I worry that this is bone met? Should I ask for bone scan?
Avatar m tn He called me 2 days later and said it was nothin to worry about but it was NOT a hemangioma. It has been about 4 months. I still have pain in my right side around my rib cage (I have no gall bladder) and I have been thinking about it. I pushed my GP to take another MRI. He said that the last one taken about 3 months prior did not grow. But he finally said yes. I also asked him to retake my Bloods. Am I worrying for nothing.
Avatar n tn I was told that usually women who have taken birth control pills show these changes in the liver (I guess due to increases in estrogen levels). But, I've never taken birth control pills and I am wondering why I have them. I was told that as long as they were not compromising the function of my liver to not worry about them and to have another ultrasound in 3 months. I'm not someone who just sits around and waits for something to get worse before doing something.
19070278 tn?1471892750 I was diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver in July of 2014, at that time, I had a hemangioma on my liver that has experienced some growth as shown in an ultrasound May 2016. Per the same ultrasound, another hemangioma has since developed. I am to have a CT this Thursday so the doctor can have a better view of the hemangiomas. The last biopsy I had was when I was first diagnosed. I can't seem to find any information about multiple hemangiomas on a diseased liver.
Avatar n tn I have liver hemangioma since 2004. Hemangioma are benign and congenital. I underwent liver embolization procedure last September 2008. Interventional Radiologist did the procedure. It blocked the veins direct to the tumor. I had 2 ultrasound guided liver biopsy also and it was all benign. Pain will always be a part of our daily lives if we did'nt take care of ourselves. We must have our excersice like walking and eat non fatty foods.
Avatar f tn For the past year and a half I have been dealing with severe pain. We have done MRI's, Bone Scans, Xrays etc. and the one thing we found is a mid-size hemangioma in the T6 where all my pain is from - this is new from the MRI I had done 4 years ago after a car accident. I understand most doctors believe that they are no symptoms but I have a hard time accepting this when it is exactly where my pain is. The pain is not muscular - we have done 14 trigger injections twice with NO relief.
Avatar n tn I usually have high blood pressure. I'm on propranolol to control it, a very low dose of propranolol at that, but for the past few days, my blood pressure has been exceptionally low. My heart rate too, for example this morning my blood pressure is 112/66 heart rate 61. It's been like this the past few days, heart rate as low as 54 and blood pressure as low as 100/59. What's up with this?
Avatar m tn There were 34 patients identified. The hemangioma size was 5 cm in 19 patients. The most common reason for referral was right upper abdominal pain in 59% (20/34) of patients. Abdominal ultrasound was conclusive in 66.7% (16/24) and four-phase computed tomography (CT) in 82.6% (19/23) of patients. Surgical resection was undertaken in 14 patients (41%) after a mean follow-up time of 36.5 months. The indication for treatment was progressive abdominal pain in 78.6% (11/14).
Avatar n tn s and CT from 2/08-7/08 which showed 4 typical hemangiomas in T3, T4, T6, T7 and what they believe to be an atypical hemangioma in T5 that is 14x12x8mm. They have requested that i come back for another mri in 6 months to a year for follow up. I have had back pain for a while in the exact areas that they have found these but they are telling me this is not what is causing the pain. These are the only tests they have done.
Avatar f tn I have been given propranolol to take as I have had continuous palpitations since monday and my heartrate has randomly shooting up in the 100's (not related to posture!!) These will also help with my bp, it has been creeping up. I have had these in the past but was more recently on bisoprolol. Which is more common for POTS symptoms? I was in A&E last night and back at my GP's this morning. I have been refered back to the cardiologist who is going to see me in november.
Avatar f tn A GP that specialises in headaches suggested Propranadol in 2013, I have tried other things he suggested first so I explained this to my new regular GP & he said I could give them a try.........no checks what so ever! Anyway I got a BP test done at the chemist & read all I could & have decided to start taking them, I am on 20mg twice a day intending to work up to 40 mg twice a day.
Avatar n tn I just discovered this sight, and was reading your conversations about liver hemangioma. This encouraged me to write, as I was just told a couple of weeks ago that I have a Liver Hemangioma. I was having an ultrasound done on my gallbladder, because I felt the I may have had gall stones or something. Well, the ultrasound didn't detect anything wrong with that, but picked up on the hemangioma. I'm still not convinced that I don't have gallstones, as I'm still having pain.
4155003 tn?1351614311 ive bin on propranolol for about 12weeks & weaned myself down to 10ml every other day, i took 10ml propranolol 52hours ago & not going to take another one as im ready to stop. when will it be fully out my system?
Avatar m tn what does that mean.." Hepatic Parenchyma Shows Heterogeneous. Ecjotexture due to 22x16mm echogenic mass is seen in Rt. Lobe"....and at the bottom of my ultrasound reports Impression says " SOL in Rt. lobe of liver? Hemangioma." does that mean its a tumor or so? do i have to be worried??
Avatar f tn I had surgery to have a Liver Hemangioma removed in 3/07. It turned out to be 35 centimeters in size. I have been feeling fine but have gained about 20 pounds, My husband thinks it might have grown back. What are the chances of a liver hemangioma returning. I did have a recheck six months after the surgery but nothing since. Any comments. T.
Avatar m tn Differential diagnosis includes adenoma and/or atypical hemangioma. 2. Small subcentimeter cyst in the posterior segment of the right hepatic lobe. But the nuclear scan did not detect hemangioma. Therefore, may need CAT scan guided liver biopsy to make the diagnosis". I was sent to a 2nd GI who then ordered the 2nd CT scan with contrast and his radiologist decided "mass has imaging characteristics of hemangioma. So they have diagnosed it hemangioma.
Avatar n tn Is this hemangioma growing in size? has the Doc indicated removal? I have read hemangiomas are quite common, and most arent cause for concern, and are asymptomatic. RF and Laser ablation are common means of removing them (radiofrequency probably moreso for embedded ones). Has your Doc indicated that He/SHe feels the cause of nausea (and resultant weight loss) to be a result of this???
Avatar n tn I am not afraid of the surgery, i am afraid of what can happen during the recover time.I have learned that CORTIZONE can make the hemangioma grow in size, so, let your doctor knows and ask to prescribe something that doesn't go thrue the liver.
