Avatar f tn My almost 2yo daughter was diagnosed with Astigmatism at the age of 3 mths due to a Capillary Hemangioma (which is slowing going down - thank god) The Opthamologist says it's time for glasses - but i'm unsure. The script is -3.0/+4.5 x 70.. is that strong? she also says she should be patched for a long time to come one hour a day.. I feel conflicted - don't glasses make the muscles lazy.. and then patching tries to make them stronger?? Please help??
Avatar f tn Just wondering if anyone has a baby with a nose hemangioma? My DD was born a month ago with a small mark on her nose tip. More alarmingly, though, was the shape of her nose- the nose tip looks like a huge bulb, which sounds like a compound hemangioma (my older DD also has hemangiomas, so I know by the look that this is probably what my younger DD has). Is there anyone out there with experience with a nose tip hemangioma? Did you get it lasered? At what age does it get worse?
Avatar m tn It is probably a capillary hemangioma getting serious. Is it probably hiv related? Sorry for my anxiety and sensitivity.
321376 tn?1209846993 It was done on my tummy and liver. They did find in the first scan something called capillary hemangioma in my Liver, but the MRI was normal. I have no idea what the causing this pain and at times the pain shoots down into my leg.
Avatar f tn For the past year and a half I have been dealing with severe pain. We have done MRI's, Bone Scans, Xrays etc. and the one thing we found is a mid-size hemangioma in the T6 where all my pain is from - this is new from the MRI I had done 4 years ago after a car accident. I understand most doctors believe that they are no symptoms but I have a hard time accepting this when it is exactly where my pain is. The pain is not muscular - we have done 14 trigger injections twice with NO relief.
1079987 tn?1258040916 I just received my cspine mri report in the mail today and was reading it and it says that there is aprobable small osseous hemangioma at the T7 vertebra. I have never heard of this and wanted to know if anyone has. I assume it isn't important since no one mentioned it to me but I am still curious to know what it is.
Avatar f tn My 8 y/o daughter experiences flashing of her eyes when she looks at things. At best the flashing she tells me looks like lightening and at worst it will make a whole page look white where she can not read. When she stops concentrating on the reading page or whatever is flashing she often reports being dizzy. She is a child who tries to please and has often tried to hide the flashing, so this is not something she is doing for attention.
Avatar n tn sometimes Tenex is also used in conjunction with stimulants to help control ADHD symptoms....first I have heard of inderal (brand name for propranolol) being used but makes sense...Always to remember to ask your doctor any questions about your meds and health care...the only stupid questions are the ones not asked....Also beta blockers are also given to help control migraines to regulate fluxs in BP...not because too high but slight changes can trigger migraines...
Avatar n tn Hi, A small nevus vascularis (capillary haemangioma) resembling a strawberry in size, shape, and colour; it usually disappears spontaneously in early childhood. Red or purple-coloured vascular skin markings that develop shortly after birth. Most are usually painless and benign and sharply demarcated from surrounding skin, usually located on the head and neck, and grow rapidly.
Avatar f tn Vertebral hemangioma is benign vascular tumor composed of vascular channels that are cavernous, capillary, or venous in type. It is most common spinal axis tumor often identified as an incidental finding. Schmorl's nodes are common, especially with minor degeneration of the aging spine. personally I would get a second opinion, or ask for another MRI with contrast as recommended.
1243620 tn?1274790697 Does anyone take propranolol for anxiety and panic attacks? I've had crippling anxiety for my whole life. Antidepressants increase it to the point where I'm in such a state I almost pass out from hypervenitlating. I've heard propranolol is good for this, and is effective.
Avatar f tn I also do take the beta-blocker pindolol which has kept my BP at 125/70 for years. Shrink says very occasional and use of propranolol on top of pindolol should not be a problem but I still have concerns which I will run by my GP. I actually did receive a call from my pharmacy pointing out the risk of a low BP problem. So...I am wondering if anyone has used propranolol or has an educated opinion on both its use in ED and possible interactions.
Avatar f tn I know propranolol is used for PTSD...but what should I ask for in the pharmacy and what is the dosage? Are there any serious effect if taken without proper knowledge?
Avatar n tn Thank you for your reply. I have sent off for this paper and am waiting for it to arrive. As you will have found out yourself when trying to find information on the internet the paper you cite is the only information available in respect of Eruptive Capillary Hemangiomas by Colver et al. The differential here is that adult Eruptive Capillary Hemangiomas are rare whereas Campbell de Morgan spots are common despite clinical similarities.
Avatar n tn Hi, Thank you for your question. Usually, propranolol (beta blocker) is suggested for prophylactic treatment of migraine. Acute or prompt treatment require over the counter pain killers and triptans. Avoiding the triggering factors of cluster headache might help you in order to prevent its recurrence. Hope it helps.
Avatar m tn I used to take a slow-release Propranolol 80 mg every day, which caused severe tiredness and extreme fatigue, to the point that I was not able to think straight and sometimes could not even get out of bed. Apparently, Propranolol also inhibits the ability for you to burn fat, not to mention gastrointestinal issues. Depression is also significantly higher when taking Propranolol.
Avatar n tn 1.Would this be enough route for transmission or am I worrying needlessly (keeping in mind the capillary tube was HOLLOW) ?? I am worried because someone elses blood could have come into contact with mine from the *****. 2.would you need a lot of HIV bloos to come into contacto in order for transmission to ocurr? I am asking because they say that blood in very small amounts is very infectious and I had an open bleeding ***** wound.
Avatar f tn Edema throughout the body occurs because of increased capillary permeability usually in response to an inflammatory trigger or general vascular fluid overload. Is this a correct statement? Throughout the body, microvasculature is regenerable over time even if severely damaged. When inflammation is eliminated or other problems resolved, capillary permeability returns to normal and severely damaged capillaries are regenerated.
Avatar f tn I take propranolol for my blood pressure and keeps my heart steady when a panic attack comes around. For my anxiety, the dr put me on celexa, propranolol, and Ativan. This combo usually works pretty well.
Avatar n tn I recently had an ultrasound to check for Gallstones and everything was normal with the exception of a 9 mm Liver Hemangioma. Could this be causing the symptoms that I am having? I had an ultrasound done 1 yr prior and the Hemangioma has not changed. The only thing that currently helps is taking Zantac. Also, should I be concerned about a future pregnancy with the hemangioma?
Avatar n tn Wow....Personally, I would find a new doctor. I don't know much about this disease process, but anything dealing with the liver is not something to just brush off. As for pain medications, I don't know what would work for you. For abdominal pain, I take tylenol...not great for the liver. If that doesn't work...then I take ibuprophen. On other days when the pain is at it's worse, I take aleve. Still all of these affect your liver.
Avatar f tn # The authors continue to regard MRI as the diagnostic test of choice for hepatic hemangioma at most centers. Nuclear medicine studies may be used to confirm the diagnosis when a probable hemangioma is detected on ultrasonography. Nuclear medicine studies may also help to clarify the nature of a lesion when the diagnosis is equivocal on CT or MRI...." It appears from this article that MRI is the test of choice.
Avatar f tn s good for the soul and releases pent up emotions. As for your liver hemangioma, they are usually harmless and of no consequence. From the Mayo Clinic: Liver hemangioma (he-man-jee-O-muh) is a noncancerous (benign) mass that occurs in the liver. A liver hemangioma is made up of a tangle of blood vessels. Liver hemangioma is sometimes called hepatic hemangioma or cavernous hemangioma. Most cases of liver hemangioma are discovered during a test or procedure for some other condition.
