can anyone tell me side effects of atenolol as i have been on it for 6 yrs and have severe pain in feet and knees tendons in legs and ankels to the extent of if any pressure applied to these parts for length of time i cannot walk for days until pain and swelling subsides.

Since they are in the same family of drugs, you really shouldn't have any side effects. I went off propanol onto Toprol XL, both beta blockers with no issues at all. The problem may be in the dosage or even the fact it's a generic. I find the generic not to be as effective as the brand but perhaps that's just me. I suggest you call the doctor or pharmacist. You are on a very low dose. I take 50mg of Toprol XL twice daily and that does not totally keep the SVT under control.

There has to be a generic form of Toprol XL. Here, the generic form has been around for ages. I remember my dad was taking it for angina for years. It was always the generic version, as far as I can remember. Now, after surgery he is only taking 25 mg, but it's still generic. In my honest opinion, Metoprolol is not the best medication. It crosses the blood-brain barrier and may have side effects like lethargy and tiredness, as well as sleeplessness at night.

----I stabilized completely last summer and I was on the brand name version of the medication. When I switched over to the generic, I started having problems and had to increased the dose from 900mgs to 1600mgs over the space of a few months. Any changes in the dosages over this time dropped me into a deep depression and I HAD to drop the dosage many times because it was agitating me. sometimes Tenex is also used in conjunction with stimulants to help control ADHD symptoms....first I have heard of inderal (brand name for propranolol) being used but makes sense...Always to remember to ask your doctor any questions about your meds and health care...the only stupid questions are the ones not asked....Also beta blockers are also given to help control migraines to regulate fluxs in BP...not because too high but slight changes can trigger migraines...

So I am currently taking Propranolol for my tachycardia, the Dr thinks its either inappropriate sinus tachycardia or supraventricular tachycardia and recently changed me to verapamil. Im so scared to start taking it, my question is does anyone take this drug for either of these conditions and does it work? Any information on these conditions and or drugs will be greatly appriciated.

Hey I take propranolol 10mg for my heart the doctor said one in the morning and one in the evening I'd usually take one around 10am . And then at 6pm-6.30pm. I woke up late today and took my first pill at 12pm what should I do? Take my next pill around 6.30 like I normally would?

ve taken, both, generic levothyroxine (T4) and liothyronine (T3), as well, as brand name Synthroid and Cytomel. I did better on on generic levo than I did on Synthyroid... I've been taking generic liothyronine for over 5 yrs and have done just as well as I did on Cytomel. I don't think you'll have any difficulty, with generic T3, but if you do, you can always go back to Cytomel.

If you are required to take the generic, find a generic that will work for you. The name of the lab is always on the bottle. And be SURE each time your scrip is filled that the same lab produced it. Everyone says negative things about generics. And sometimes it is warranted. But not always. For instance the generic of claritin and some heart and blood pressure drugs makes them affordable and they work fine. My husband gets generics of a lot of his meds and he does very well.
