Avatar f tn which drugs is best for me now.on carbimazole and propranolol but have stopped as I confirmed been pregnant.
Avatar m tn Free T3 is the biologically active thyroid hormone that largely regulates metabolism. Free T4 is a prohormone available for conversion to FT3. Your FT4 is at the top of the range, suggesting that perhaps you are still somewhat hyper. You really need to also test for FT3. More importantly please tell us about any symptoms you have currently.
1413042 tn?1281770262 The endo has asked for another blood test in 2 weeks time. So, should I discontinue Propranolol or take it for 2 more weeks? Or try to wean off? Would there be any adverse effects if I stop it now? How much heart rate & BP is reduced by Propranolol? Will I get hypotension if I continue with Propranolol? Please suggest.
Avatar f tn 40 I am also wondering about how long will i have to take the propranolol. what has to happen for me to stop taking it. I am not a patient person and would love for all this to just go away. any info would be great.
Avatar f tn Nothing is ever easy or promised with Thyroid disease. Were you tested for Hashimoto's as well when you were tested for Graves? Sometimes people with Hashi's will start out with hyper swings from nodules and inflammation. Just a thought. I also cannot understand why your doctor is checking TSH only on the last test. Free T4 and Free T3 are the active levels of thyroid hormone in the body. TSH is a pituitary function test and should not be the only test used.
Avatar f tn She is on 15 mg of methimazole a day and propranolol 4 times a day. At first the levels were not coming down. At our last visit her T3 has moved from a 15.9 to a 7.1. We were very excited to finally see the levels coming down. If her levels are coming down, why does she demonstrate such strong Graves symptoms still...tremors, heat intolorance, eating a lot, nightmares, very moody, joint pain, staring, inability to focus.....
Avatar f tn these drugs quieten down the symptoms of the overactive thyroid, by blocking the adrenaline-like effects of thyroid hormones. Propranolol tablets are the most frequently used." It is likely your doctor will follow up with you in the coming weeks and monitor your levels and decide what to do after that. Once your thyroid levels are under control, you chances of conceiving will greatly improve.
Avatar n tn sometimes Tenex is also used in conjunction with stimulants to help control ADHD symptoms....first I have heard of inderal (brand name for propranolol) being used but makes sense...Always to remember to ask your doctor any questions about your meds and health care...the only stupid questions are the ones not asked....Also beta blockers are also given to help control migraines to regulate fluxs in BP...not because too high but slight changes can trigger migraines...
1243620 tn?1274790697 Does anyone take propranolol for anxiety and panic attacks? I've had crippling anxiety for my whole life. Antidepressants increase it to the point where I'm in such a state I almost pass out from hypervenitlating. I've heard propranolol is good for this, and is effective.
Avatar n tn I have been on Methimazole 10mg 3x a day for four weeks and was on propranolol for the first two weeks. I am off the propranolol. After three wks I am now taking methimazole 2x a day. Since the on set of this illness I have had achy/painful gums which seem to get more severe with each episode. I have seen my Dr., dentist and a periodontist. Tylenol helps. No one can find a cause for this pain.
Avatar f tn Hi, and thanks for response! 1. I feel alright, just got done moving, so that can make a person a bit tired and adjusting to change, but pretty good, I'd say! 2. These labs represent probably over 8 weeks on 165mg NP Thyroid per day (had not taken dose since day before) 3. Have been off of Propranolol for 4 months, at least. 4.
Avatar n tn I am a 30 year old male and was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. I also had several episodes of panic attacks. After 4 months of treatment with carbimazole & propranolol, I am now clinically euthyroid and there's no more panic attacks & tachycardia. I have been doing brisk walking for last one month. I started slowly, but now I walk briskly on plain surface, slopes and stairs. I walk approx 2 miles everyday for 45 minutes. I have been still advised to be on Carbimazole 20 mg.
Avatar n tn (Used to take 120mg of NP thyroid) Removal of fluoride has reversed my condition too rapidly for my body’s hormones (it happened in 1 month). Displayed Hyperthyroid symptoms in April. Went to ER 3 times due to heart scares - checked out ok. I was completely off thyroid medication when I developed a heart flutter. Had to go back on a small dose (12.5mcg synthroid) to make it less, but now showing signs of hyperthyroid symptoms again.
Avatar f tn I also do take the beta-blocker pindolol which has kept my BP at 125/70 for years. Shrink says very occasional and use of propranolol on top of pindolol should not be a problem but I still have concerns which I will run by my GP. I actually did receive a call from my pharmacy pointing out the risk of a low BP problem. So...I am wondering if anyone has used propranolol or has an educated opinion on both its use in ED and possible interactions.
Avatar n tn I was hyper and said to have all indications of Graves and was started on Carbimazole 30mg daily and Propranolol in 2007, now I am hypo for the last 1-3 months and on only 5mg daily of Carbimazole. I do blood work every two months. Why am I still on Carbimazole if I am hypo? I read somewhere you said something to the fact that you may not have Graves if you are now hypo. What did you mean? I am having weight gain. Tell me what I can do to combat this and I will do it without question?
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with Grave's hyperthyroid two month's ago. The Endocrinologist has put me on 40mg Methimazole, which is crashing my WBC's and elevating liver enzymes. Apparently I have to be on this medication for quite some time. My lab values, after only 4 weeks, are insane, and T3, T4 still very high. I find this a highly toxic drug (for me). Even so, if I could handle taking it to the euthyroid state, I'm against RI or surgery.
Avatar f tn no iam not on any medication other than propranolol for racing hart i did have blud tests with a specialist but didnt ask wot they were for other than that they were to do with my thyroid thankx from jox
Avatar f tn I ve been prescribed Propranolol 40 mg 3x a day for hand tremors. Since the surgery I gained almost 20 lbs, now that I m on Propranolol...I ve gained an additional 10 lbs in 2 month. I"m at my wits end, 5ft & now 185 lbs. Although the Propranolol has helped my tremors, I cannot afford this weight gain. I work hard & yet find it IMPOSSIBLE to loss weight. I joined a Gym in January & work out 5 x a week.
Avatar n tn To find a well informed answer to your query about the Sertraline-Propranolol combination, you need to look for information/evidence according to the hierarchy. A systematic review (a review of a number of studies exploring the same issue) is considered the best as far as strength of evidence is concerned. Clinicians' experience, case reports and non-journal articles are lower level sources of evidence.
1504778 tn?1321394645 i have a condition similiar but mine palpotates when my heart is over woi entrked i have an extra nerve on it ,they put me on propranolol for what i had i didnt have palpotations but the pill made me real tired and slugish so i got off it ,if your not feeling that give it a little time to work if it stops the palps and not feeling exhausted every day you should be good ,if you have no change call him after a few days i went through like three different meds before they got it right hope that h
Avatar f tn I know propranolol is used for PTSD...but what should I ask for in the pharmacy and what is the dosage? Are there any serious effect if taken without proper knowledge?
Avatar m tn I have been dealing with symptoms of hyper thyroid for almost two months now and am very frustrated. My hair is falling out, I sweat at the drop of a hat, lose my temper over the tiniest thing and my eyes have swelling and irritation. I finally saw an endo last week and she thinks I have Graves but my test results today show free T3 and T4 within the normal range even though TSH is suppressed.
Avatar f tn 5/25/10 labs tsh 0.022 t3 free 3.51 1.70-4.20 t4 free 1.01 0.70-2.
Avatar f tn I (was) exercising 2-3 times a week (running / walking 3-4 miles) I DO have an extensive family history of heart + thyroid issues (grandfather died at 49 with heart failure after 3 heart attacks, mother had portion of her thyroid removed, fathers blood pressure is through the roof as my sisters is as well. About a month ago went to my PP for what I though was a high resting / working out heart rate.
Avatar n tn Hi, Thank you for your question. Usually, propranolol (beta blocker) is suggested for prophylactic treatment of migraine. Acute or prompt treatment require over the counter pain killers and triptans. Avoiding the triggering factors of cluster headache might help you in order to prevent its recurrence. Hope it helps.
