Avatar n tn I have social phobia and anxiety ... sometimes it can reach the dark hill of panic attack. However, that's not the only thing. I am suspicious of people and their motives and actions - sometimes I know they have noticed me, they are watching at me, mocking at me or even planning to harm me. Do you have such thoughts?
Avatar n tn I have taken propranalol on an "as-needed" basis for social phobia for about seven years now, and have found it to be a lifesaver, allowing me to speak in public, date, etc.,. Prior to that, I avoided any kind of public speaking and many social situations because my heart would race, my hands and voice would shake...I'd look like a nervous wreck, which only sap my confidence and make me more embarrassed and more nervous.
Avatar n tn 47 I'm taking 30mg of Buspar a day for treatment of social phobia. I'm also taking 80mg of Propranolol LA for high blood pressure (and for treatment of social phobia). I am also seeking council with a psychologist. I could deal with having social phobia if it wasn't for the physical evidence of it. My main concern is to rid myself of over-blushing and over-perspiring episodes that occur every day.

Avatar n tn 55:19 Dear susan; The two most widely used medications for specific social phobia associated with performance situations are Atenolol and Propranolol. These medications are also indicated for hypertension, cardiac disease and certain types of arrythmias and can help with the physical symptoms (heart racing) in patients with social phobia. The potential side effects include fatigue, nightmares, and bradycardia.
968908 tn?1274874715 Certainly, the development of an elevated sedimentation rate should have raised a red flag and warrants further investigation/intervention. Propranolol is the most probable source for your symptomatology. Additionally, Propranolol is a highly lipophilic, non-selective beta-blocker. Given its lack of specificity, it targets both beta-1 (cardiac) and beta-2 (bronchial) receptors.

3060903 tn?1398568723 Because beta blockers don’t affect the emotional symptoms of anxiety such as worry, they’re most helpful for phobias, particularly social phobia and performance anxiety. If you’re anticipating a specific anxiety-producing situation (such as giving a speech), taking a beta blocker in advance can help reduce your “nerves.” Beta blockers include drugs such as propranolol (Inderal) and atenolol (Tenormin).
Avatar n tn ),MAOI's (Nardil), and Benzodiazepines (Klonopin, Xanax). The SSRI's are the standard of care at this point in time. In Social Phobia with performance anxiety, Propranolol and Atenolol helps too. From what you have described, it seems that you have more of the generalized type. Psychotherapy includes cognitive-behavioral therapy which involves desentisization, retraining and a range of home assignments. For these reasons, I advice you to seek the help of a mental health professional.
Avatar n tn I went to another doctor for the tremor and she took some blood tests and found that my thyroxine levels were just near the upper limit. she didn't give me any medication except for propranolol for the tremor. The propranolol helps a little but i'm not happy with having to take it and i don't. I definetely need some help.
Avatar m tn I have severe anxiety not under control for now and the only time my blood pressure increase is when i'm out of the house, in a social situation or have to go to the dentist for example... and normally my distolic blood pressure number increase from 60 to 90 and the systolic increase from 100 to 130...
Avatar m tn at first I was put on an AD call Paxil who do the job well, I was already on 8 mg of Clonazepam (benzo med) for the social phobia since 2005 but it stop working very fast and had to increase and increase the dose to have the same benefit effects but it's not working anymore... of course I try often to stop it by reducing slowly the dose but i'm highly addicted both physically and mentally and it's impossible to stop that benzo med and now with all those crazy physical symptoms it's even worse..
Avatar n tn Nurseam, if you feel that this is consuming your life, then by all means, try the beta blocker. My comments about public speaking were meant for Buckley who is a Corporate Trainer. Buckley, if your doctor tells you it is "just" social anxiety and there is no treatment for it, I'll be surprised. It is common practice to use CBT for social anxiety and alternatively or sometimes in conjunction with CBT, a long acting benzo is something to be considered.
Avatar m tn I have essential tremor also, but can't seem to get it under control with propranolol. I've been seeing a neurologist for this. I also purchased a natural treatment called Tremadone. So far, that's not helping, but I only started it a week ago. This is getting worse and it's actually bothering my neck. Magnesium chloride? What's that? How do you get it?
Avatar f tn Absolutely nothing out of the ordinary happened (that I'm aware of) prior to this incident, except for insertion of Mirena IUD one week prior - I do still have it but now think I'll have it removed. Thus began months of seemingly random 'attacks' during which I'd get varying combinations of tachycardia, high BP, tremors esp in left leg, lightheadedness, inability to fully inhale, feeling of not getting enough oxygen even if I could breathe properly, and the list goes on.
Avatar f tn Can anyone recommend a natural remedy that has worked for them? My tremors flare up when I'm in an uncomfortable social setting - uncomfortable b/c I'm attending alone, not fully comfortable with myself, worrying about stupid stuff, etc. Plus thinking about it makes it worse! I've gone on dates and not had anything to drink b/c I'm afraid I'll drop the glass - I don't have soup b/c of the shaky spoon, etc. This only happens when I'm nervous/anxious in a social setting. Anyone tried St.

Avatar m tn A couple days later I still had a dizzy feeling so I had my ladyfriend drive me to the ER for fear of having post-concussion syndrome or something. They gave me something for my nerves (Loreazapam maybe?) and did a catscan and everything was A-OK. I had no idea why I was feeling like this, but I finally told my mom about it and she googled it and thought maybe I was having some panic attacks.
