Has anyone tried PROPRANOLOL for prevention of Migraines? I have struggled with headaches almost every day & Migraines aprox every 7-10 days for the last 10 years. Feverfew has helped but they now seem to be getting worst so I was thinking of asking my GP if I could try Propranolol.
To date I hvae been on three medications for my headaches (meloxicam, zomig and propranolol) but nothing seems to help. My headache has lasted for a month straight but it seems to be getting worse. My family doctor seems to think that I have sinus, tension and migraine headaches. The pain and sensitivity to light has become so bad that I have to sit in a dark and not move all night after a day at school. The pain is mainly behind my eye and on my nose bridge, then it spreeds to my forehead.
ve been taking 10-40 mg at a time for inappropriate sinus tachycardia control (probably anxiety, but who knows). The propranolol seemed like a good choice since i also have headaches (kill 2 birds with 1 stone) but it seems to be having too much of a cerebral effect on me....
sometimes Tenex is also used in conjunction with stimulants to help control ADHD symptoms....first I have heard of inderal (brand name for propranolol) being used but makes sense...Always to remember to ask your doctor any questions about your meds and health care...the only stupid questions are the ones not asked....Also beta blockers are also given to help control migraines to regulate fluxs in BP...not because too high but slight changes can trigger migraines...
I also do take the beta-blocker pindolol which has kept my BP at 125/70 for years. Shrink says very occasional and use of propranolol on top of pindolol should not be a problem but I still have concerns which I will run by my GP. I actually did receive a call from my pharmacy pointing out the risk of a low BP problem.
So...I am wondering if anyone has used propranolol or has an educated opinion on both its use in ED and possible interactions.
I had my first migraine when I was 12 and they became chronic and literally everyday after two car accidents. (Rear end and head on). I am soon going to b getting my nerves on my c3-6 burned to help with the headaches and neck pain. I'm only 23 yrs old. I had to quit my career (cosmetologist) I loved it and right before my migrianes randomly became daily I had an offer to become a redken color artist and do hair in big time hair shows up on stage with many famous hairstylist.
Why on earth were you on a beta-blocker (Heart medicine, Propranolol) for a sore throat? Someone made a mistake.. I would seek help Immediately. Though 2 weeks of propranolol wouldn't hurt you I would say you could probably have Incurred a bad side effect from the Propranolol.
I get these terrible headaches usually to one side of my head but they usually only come the week before my menstral and last a couple days with taking some meds like excedrin...well now it has come back before this time and along with it I cant focus on anything I feel dizzy lightheaded and extremely tired but try to lay down and cant sleep the goes from my temple to the side of my neck...Help any ideas of what is causing this...I called dr cant get an appt till thurs....but im worrried...

i have also had other health problems especially stomache pain and am currently on propanalol which seemed to be helping a lot with the headaches for some reason.however the headaches have returned and my head constantly hurts especially on the left and at the base of the head and my left pupil has been enlarged several times.my daughter even noticfd it when i went to visit.
How long do Exertion headaches take to heal? About three weeks ago, while doing deadlifts, I got an exertion headache. This is the first time I've ever had one. It was a heavy amount of weight, and I strained myself while trying to re-rack the weight. Since then, I get exertion headaches sometimes during intercourse and weight lifting. Hi, Thank you for your question. Usually, propranolol (beta blocker) is suggested for prophylactic treatment of migraine. Acute or prompt treatment require over the counter pain killers and triptans. Avoiding the triggering factors of cluster headache might help you in order to prevent its recurrence. Hope it helps.
I read Sertraline reacts with Propranolol. It makes Propranolol more toxic and can give me low BP and bradycardia. Recently my BP was a bit high (140/90) and pulse rate was 72.

I used to take a slow-release Propranolol 80 mg every day, which caused severe tiredness and extreme fatigue, to the point that I was not able to think straight and sometimes could not even get out of bed. Apparently, Propranolol also inhibits the ability for you to burn fat, not to mention gastrointestinal issues. Depression is also significantly higher when taking Propranolol.
Are you on any preventive medicine, like propranolol, topomax or amitriptyline? Otherwise ask your doc about this. It is usually easier to treat the sooner you start.

Find a new doctor that will listen to you. Listen to your symptoms.

I have frequent episodes of rapid, irregular heart rate. Finally, we caught it on an event monitor and it was diagnosed as Paroxyxmal Atrial Tachycardia. I assume this is the same as PSVT? Due to relocation, change of doctors, etc., I have ended up with three doctors all giving me different advice. They all agree that it is benign, but aggravating. I get lightheaded, cough and feel somewhat "confused" when it happens. Nevertheless, they've assured me it's ok.
The day after the surgery my EP Dr put me on Propranolol daily and Sumatriptan to take when I get the headaches, but it doesn't seem to be working and the migraines keep coming. I've gotten 2 migraines today already.
Has anyone experienced this after a heart ablation? did it go away? I cannot imagine having headaches like this for the rest of my life. They are debilitating. I can't go to work, I can't sleep, I can't eat, I can't do anything! HELP!!
You need to track the triggers for these episodic headaches. Trial of prophylactic drugs like propranolol or topiramate, treatment of episodes with triptans etc would be advised. Keep a tab of your headache triggers. Hope this helps. Take care.
I take propranolol for my blood pressure and keeps my heart steady when a panic attack comes around. For my anxiety, the dr put me on celexa, propranolol, and Ativan. This combo usually works pretty well.
