Avatar m tn Does anyone know how propranolol effects exercise? I do triathlon and train using a heart rate monitor. I am wondering if I would be able to progress athletically given my heart rate would be lowered substantially?
Avatar m tn I used to take a slow-release Propranolol 80 mg every day, which caused severe tiredness and extreme fatigue, to the point that I was not able to think straight and sometimes could not even get out of bed. Apparently, Propranolol also inhibits the ability for you to burn fat, not to mention gastrointestinal issues. Depression is also significantly higher when taking Propranolol.
Avatar f tn I’ve been taking propranolol 10 mg (increased it from 5 to 10 2 weeks ago) for just under a month. I take this twice a day for PVCs. With my evening dose I take olanzapine 2.5mg. In the past few days I get to feeling quite strange, dizzy and tingling in my hands and bottoms of my feet. I find that exercise, bicycling, helps.
Avatar n tn As Per pubmed The effects of diltiazem hydrochloride, a vasodilator often used to treat hypertension, and beta-blockers (pindolol and propranolol hydrochloride) on lipid metabolism and carbohydrate metabolism were assessed by measuring serum levels of total cholesterol, high-density-lipoproteins (HDL)-cholesterol, triglycerides, and glucose in patients taking these drugs for three months.
Avatar f tn s helpful to you. But keep in mind, propranolol is a fairly short-acting beta blocker, at 80 mg you will likely have an effective dose similar to peak level when taking one 20 mg pill. Do not adjust the dose without asking your doctor! This is very important. Beta blockers can have very unwanted side effects if the dose is too high. I used to take 10 mg when needed.
Avatar n tn In clinical practice, it is rare to find cases where Sertraline or other SSRIs has led to Propranolol related problems. However, we have to exercise caution while using the combination as one cannot predict the outcome in each individual. Propranolol is best known for its benefit in performance anxiety. If your anxiety disorder does not include performance anxiety as a major component, you may consider weaning off Propranolol, after consulting with your psychiatrist.
Avatar n tn I am a 30 year old male and was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. I also had several episodes of panic attacks. After 4 months of treatment with carbimazole & propranolol, I am now clinically euthyroid and there's no more panic attacks & tachycardia. I have been doing brisk walking for last one month. I started slowly, but now I walk briskly on plain surface, slopes and stairs. I walk approx 2 miles everyday for 45 minutes. I have been still advised to be on Carbimazole 20 mg.
1124887 tn?1313754891 Hello, I believe I suffer from white coat hypertension. Earlier (until a year ago), when I didn't care about my blood pressure, I always had excellent results when my doctor measured it (115-120/60-70). After I started worrying about my heart (not so much anymore, I usually try my best to help people on the heart rhythm community) my BP readings are higher. I feel my muscles get tense and my heart starts pounding when the cuff inflates, and blood pressure is 140-155/80-95.
290624 tn?1202328875 weird beats are to be expected for up to 8 months after the procedure.Having been in A-fib since I was 28 now i'm 46 I've had 2 ablations and 7 cardio-versions.I am in NSR now but who knows how long it will last.THe most important thing to remember is A-fib will not kill you.I popped out of NSR 2 weeks ago and went right back in with the 7th conversion > I have not gotten on my exercise bike again but I do walk 5 miles a day.
Avatar f tn Ok, I see that many of you still exercise with your PVC's. Im so stumped because when I workout my PVC's get worse and it has made me soooo depressed. I love to workout and cant. When I did the stress test they had to stop it 8 minutes in because they started happening more and more and with more pain as each moment went on. I almost dropped from the pain. Are you guys on meds when you work out? Do PVC's hit people differently?
Avatar m tn Hey guys, I was recently told I have SVT and have some questions as I've never heard of this before. Before I get into the questions I should tell you my story: I'm 22 years old and the past 4 months for me have been awful. It all started when I felt my heart skip a beat in early june. Immediately after it happened I lost my breath and my heart started racing. I got really bad anxiety and had a panic attack.
Avatar m tn I latter found out that my blood pressure was on the high side averaging 140/90. I tried to exercise this pressure down, healthy eating, no salt, but problem is that sometimes my pressure would spike to levels like 160/110 pulse 150 for a short time of less than 5 minutes and then leave me feeling weak for a few days. Before starting Medication I did ESG, ECHO, cholesterol test, x-ray and blood test. Everything was registering normal.
220028 tn?1301336634 If you have problems with dizziness when standing and after exercise, ask your doctor to switch beta blocker from Metoprolol to Propranolol, as this one constrict the blood vessels more. I can choose which one of them to choose, and I get a slower heart rate (less blood pressure drop) on propranolol. Bottom line: What you experience is normal.
Avatar m tn At certain times, like during exercise, they are, yes. Otherwise, high blood pressure is often associated with a slow heart rate, If your arteries are constricting (in response to stress hormones), the "built in" blood pressure monitor in your body (which is located in the aortic arch and carotid arteries) are sending signals to the heart to slow down heart rate in an attempt to reduce blood pressure.
Avatar f tn If so, what measures can I take? Can’t take NSAIDS. I take Tylenol 8 hr once a day. Drink cherry juice, exercise on a bike and drink lots of water. I use magnesium chloride pain cream too. I’m 74. I take propranolol 10mg 2X a day & olanzapine 2.5 once a day. I have also been under Extreme financial stress. Could my problem be cortisol from stress? Could that be what is making me hurt not just in my joints but muscles also? Your wisdom will be appreciated!
Avatar f tn The cardiologist at a private medical centre was not able to help much to control the rate, and he was prescribed Herbesser 200mg (diltiazem), Propranolol 20mg (10mg x 2), Lasix, Slow K (potassium supplement), warfarin 2mg and rosuvastatin 10mg (for cholesterol). But his condition persists. He gets breathless easily. We have heard of ways to cure Afib, one of which is ablation, and have contacted the National Heart Institute.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with PSVTs 5 years ago at age 35. I take 10mg of propranolol daily and it has worked just fine to keep the arrhythmia at bay. Lately I have been trying to run a little faster when I exercise, and I am wondering if a medication adjustment might be in order. I am not trying to do anything crazy; I just want to run a 5K in less than 30 minutes. About 20 minutes in, my heartrate gets to the high 170s.
612551 tn?1450022175 I understand that many people have heart conditions that can't be lowered by exercise, but the majority can lower their heart-rate by the right exercise in the right program. Running or weight-training is the worst exercise you can do. Swimming is the best, and cycling is pretty good. Your maximum heart rate is 17 beats lower swimming than land exercises, and your heart does not beat as fast so does not get irregular or extra beats.
Avatar m tn Hi, I'm dealing with tachycardia arrhytmia since more than 2 years now. My Cardilogist at first said it was dysautonomia and POTS and blame also my severe anxiety and was put on a beta blocker, propranolol 20 mg day. At first it was working on to stop the tachycardia but with time the effect wear off and had to increase my dose and then it was lowering too much my blood pressure so my Cardiologist switch me on another beta blocker...
Avatar f tn Has anyone tried PROPRANOLOL for prevention of Migraines? I have struggled with headaches almost every day & Migraines aprox every 7-10 days for the last 10 years. Feverfew has helped but they now seem to be getting worst so I was thinking of asking my GP if I could try Propranolol.
4155003 tn?1351614311 ive bin on propranolol for about 12weeks & weaned myself down to 10ml every other day, i took 10ml propranolol 52hours ago & not going to take another one as im ready to stop. when will it be fully out my system?
Avatar f tn I have been given propranolol to take as I have had continuous palpitations since monday and my heartrate has randomly shooting up in the 100's (not related to posture!!) These will also help with my bp, it has been creeping up. I have had these in the past but was more recently on bisoprolol. Which is more common for POTS symptoms? I was in A&E last night and back at my GP's this morning. I have been refered back to the cardiologist who is going to see me in november.
Avatar f tn I've been taking Propranolol for high blood pressure and tachycardia(10mg at 8am, 2pm, and 8pm) for about 18 days now, and four days ago I woke up feeling quite dizzy. Since then it seemed to get better, but now I feel lethargic, dizzy, and generally unwell. Is it my drug? Note: I'm a 15-year-old male.
Avatar f tn Hi, he just wants to be cautious as you are transferring medications. The effects of propranolol may vary with individuals. So, it is best to start with lower doses and progressively increase the dose if needed. Along with this you can practice lifestyle measures to keep the pressure at lower levels. Don't add additional salt in your diet. Exercise regularly and practice relaxation techniques to lower your stress levels. Regards.
1475202 tn?1536270977 However reduction in portal hypertension is possible through the use of nonselective beta blockers, particularly propranolol and Nadolol. These medications reduce portal pressures both by decreasing cardiac output and by producing splanchnic vasoconstriction. Several studies have shown that nonselective beta blockers decrease the risk for first variceal hemorrhage by 40% to 50% when compared to patients taking placebo.
Avatar m tn t work for me--fish oil, magnesium, potassium, exercise, CoX10, Vitamin D, Vitamin B complex, Propranolol, Xanax. The magnesium, potassium, CoX10, & vitamins are all great to take, & I feel healthier, especially now that I exercise 4 days a week for 30 minutes, but none of them lessened my skipped beats. Fish oil actually made me skip more beats on average, & there are studies & articles like this from Harvard linking Omega 3 to a host of other problems (http://www.health.
