pegintron cost

I had a previous treatment with pegintron and ribavirin for HCV genotype 1. It failed. I need to have another treatment.Tests show high viral load. My doctor says we will have a re- treatment with Pegintron, RBV and Telaprevir. Is Telaprevir available in India. If not where in the Asian countries can i have the treatment.

I contacted my insurance company today to ask about the price of the meds for triple treatment. A 3 month supply of interferon, ribavirin, & Victrelis would cost $180.00 (so about $60 a month) I thought it was going to be a lot higher. But I forgot to ask about "rescue drugs". Not sure how that works and how much that would be. Any one have an idea?

I spoke with the pharmacist and he voiced some concerns about my ability to cover the extreme cost. I have a plan were I pay up front and am reimbursed. The cost for one month Incivek in Canada $14000 + 2000$ for the Pegasus. You might ask your doctor to change your treatment protocol somehow; different type of interferon (Pegasys to Pegintron, perhaps). The last time you did the treatment were you fully compliant with meds; did you take the ribavirin and interferon on time as scheduled? It might benefit you to increase ribavirin dosage if possible, dependent on blood values. Having done both Pegintron and Pegasys I had a much harder time with Pegintron. I had a fever 40 out of 48 weeks the day after my shot nite with the Pegintron and maybe only once or twice with Pegasys. all people handle tx differently so only time will tell how you react. On both tx's the red and white blood counts had issues that are easy to controled by rescue drugs.
