peg-intron

Avatar f tn I just took my first shot of Peg Intron Friday night, and I got pretty sick, but thank God after I stayed in bed the next day I felt better. Do these reactions happen every time you inject it or does your body eventually get use to it. Also my viral load is only 300 and I have genotype 1. Can anyone give me more information about my Hep C being cured after this treatment or does it ever get cured?
Avatar n tn Just confirm that she had used Peg-Intron (pegelated) or Intron (simple interferone) previously. I think your mom should consult with good specilaist as he/she will first assess the condition of your mom whether she is in condition to support Treatment or not. seems to be from Pakistan or india ???
541844 tn?1244309824 I asked my doctor for pegasys over peg intron. He addressed my concerns and told me sx's for me would be similar with either drug and kinetics were similar for both with regard to initial suppression of the virus. I had read about peaks and troughs with peg intron. He said that was dated info. Ok, so we decided to stay with peg intron. Now...about dosage. Can anyone explain why pegasys is one dose fits all and peg intron is weight based? I will get 80 mcg with weight at 114 lbs.
335297 tn?1210597884 t have as good as a viral load drop as I did with the Peg-Intron. I had more sides with the Peg-Intron but a bigger viral load drop. I hope for you, that all the rest of your treatment day are sides free.
442340 tn?1326817417 He uses Pegasys and my GI doctor (whom I love) uses peg-intron. My question for all peg-intron users is how bad have your sx been? The doctor I saw today said pegasys seems to have less sx, but of course not all people react the same way. I love my GI doctor and want to treat with him, but am I making a mistake by going Peg-Intron? Thanks for your input. My stats: 26 years old, really healthy, active female, geno 3a, VL 949,000. No biopsy done Thanks!
901131 tn?1293744553 As a result of its controlled-release mechanism, Locteron was dosed half as frequently as PEG-Intron. PEG-Intron is one of two currently marketed pegylated interferon products for the treatment of hepatitis C, a market that currently exceeds $2.5 billion in worldwide sales. Additional results from SELECT-2 demonstrated the substantial tolerability advantages of Locteron.
408795 tn?1324935675 Haven't read it completely yet but it's information and just another shout out that if you deal with depression or other related issues, take your time when it comes to tx. Maybe the fda has noticed that some people who deal with depression have a more pronounced tx outcome than previously thought. Like I said, I not did read it all yet, just the quick once over. Yep, tx and 6 month follow-up period, bigger warning than before, I think. Anyone?
Avatar m tn Dear winner727, Below, I am providing you with a link to the page dedicated to "peginterferon alfa-2b" users who can't afford to pay for their medication; http://www.needymeds.org/drug_list.taf?_function=name&name=PEG-Intron NeedyMeds.org is a non-profit organization with the mission of helping people who cannot afford medicine or healthcare costs. The information at NeedyMeds is available anonymously and free of charge.
4384361 tn?1399998230 My experience was that Pegasys was much much easier to tolerate than was Peg-Intron. I treated with both interferons and Pegasys was literally a walk in the park compared to Peg-Intron. I think the efficacy is pretty much equal with Pegasys perhaps having a slight edge. It was the tolerability of Pegasys that enabled me to extend my treatment duration and achieve SVR.
407029 tn?1253992623 I don’t know which interferon you are prescribed, Pegasys or PEG-Intron. Quite often, our insurance companies will cover the cost of ribavirin for a nominal co-pay; however, the interferon is excluded from the Rx side of the plan, but covered under major medical, which is probably why you are seeing the high co-pay. I’d encourage you to call one of the following numbers and ask about their Patient Assistant Plan (PAP).
335297 tn?1210597884 I found out two weeks ago that the HCV virus is back and so I have begun Week 1 of treatment. My doctor has prescribed Peg-Intron since I had so many side-effects with Pegasys. Does anyone have any experience with both Pegasys and Peg-Intron? I am genotype 1, stage 3, grade 0-1. I took my first injection a few days ago and Peg-Intron completely wiped me out with feel and aches and pains but I am trying to accept what is to come and hope that my experience with the first tratment will help me.
422881 tn?1257603579 Well, if your HBV DNA wasn't all that high before your Peg Intron, it's not surprising that you would go UND. As long as you stay HBV DNA UND on Peg Intron, your HepB is being managed well. It's obviously the desired outcome. Here's the thing, you have a timeframe for Peg Intron for HCV treatment. I think your doc will stop Peg Intron based on HCV because there's no timeframe for HBV.
1253246 tn?1332073310 http://www.spfiles.com/pipeg-intron.pdf Effect of food on absorption of ribavirin: Both AUC and C-MAX increased by seventy percent when Rebetol Capsules were administered with a high fat meal: (841 kcal, 53.8 g fat, 31.6 g protein, and 57.4 g carbohydrate) in a single-dose pharmacokinetic study.
Avatar m tn I finished treatment with Peg-Intron and Ribavirin in 2007, after a 24 week course. I acheived non-detectable levels of HCVRNA after 4 weeks of treatment. I have, however, since relapsed. My current doctor would like to retreat with Infergen and Ribavirin, with the belief that the HCV virus has developed some form of immunity to the pegylated interferon.
Avatar n tn s weight is 60 kg and dr. recommend her 80 microgram dose of peg-intron injections with 400mg Virex capsulse. While I have read on Peg-intron literature that its dose is given by weight. For monotherapy use 0.5 microgram/kg/week. For combination therapy 1.5 microgram/kg/week...i think my mother case is combination therapy (injections + capsules). And for 60 kg weight injection dose should be 100 micrograms. Please advise.
422881 tn?1257603579 "180" is the standard dosage for Pegasys. You state you're on "Peg Intron" which is made by a different manufacturer and dosed differently by weight. The most common forumulations of Peg Intron need to be refrigerated and I therefore assume so does yours since it was shipped in a styrofoam container. The ribavirin can be stored at room temperature. Like in your case, my ribavirin was also shipped in the styrofoam along with the peg.
3159077 tn?1356031131 I was advised to reduce my Peg Intron due to low platelets. I accidentally did 150 mcg. in week five due to getting the wrong Redipen then in week six I started reducing. Platelets bounced back up around 70 so I've kept my dose at 96 mcg. My weight is down to 165 lbs. from 175 lbs. so I am now injecting the recommended dose of Peg Intron. This took me about two hours to do this morning so I must be feeling better on my 2nd day off Incivek.
Avatar n tn I was taking Incivek, ribaviran and peg intron. I had a pre surgery physical today and my EKG came up slightly abnormal than the previous one I had before treatment. My question is can the aftermath of these drugs affect the heart? I'm supposed to have a meniscus repair done on the 27th and my cardiologist suggests I have a CT scan of my heart. Any insight would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn Kind of like a time release (sort of) .The 2 manufacturers of PEG being Roche (pegasys) and Sherring Plough (Peg-Intron). The main difference between those two is the molecule size. Some ask and argue which is better and which has the least side effects. It seems to be split. Depending on who you talk to. I hope that helps.
Avatar f tn SVR for Peg-Intron plus Rebetol combination therapy is 41% for genotype 1, and 82% for genotypes 2 through 6. Peg-Intron is a reconstituted powder that is dosed according to a person's weight. Roche’s Pegasys plus Copegus: SVR for Pegasys plus Copegus combination therapy is 44-51% for genotype 1, and 70-82% for genotypes 2 through 6. Pegasys is a ready-made solution that is dosed at 180µg regardless of a person's weight.
408795 tn?1324935675 Initial data from ENABLE 2, a randomised Phase III trial of eltrombopag plus PEG-Intron® (peginterferon alfa-2b) and ribavirin were also presented. The ENABLE 2 trial met its primary endpoint of improved SVR, with 19% of eltrombopag patients and 13% of placebo patients achieving SVR (p=0.0202). Serious adverse events were reported in 20% of eltrombopag and 15% of placebo patients. Death occurred in 4% of patients in the eltrombopag and 2% of placebo group.
