Avatar m tn I'm 23 years old. and until now I had 5 times ovarian dermoid cysts that had been removed by laparoscopia surgery. the size of the cysts are usually between 5-12 cm. sometimes I had more than 1 cyst at the same time (it means 3 cysts that had been removed all together by surgery). I had 2 emergency surgeries because the cysts circled my ovary. Right now I have 11 cm ovarian cyst. This is the 6 time I need to take the cysts out by surgery. what can I do in order to prevent it?
Avatar n tn How large is the ovarian cyst? Ovarian cysts that are 5cm or greater, and are complex (like yours with a solid element) are usually treated with surgery. They have a greater chance of being malignant than smaller, simple cysts. Sometimes, doctors watch and wait smaller cysts and sometimes they choose to operate. Still, most cysts (even larger and complex ones) turn out to be benign.
Avatar f tn I've been prone to ovarian cysts for 5years and am in near constant pain with them. I've tried different contraceptions, painkillers and keyhole surgery but they always return. My doctor said removing my ovary would be best but im too young- im only 21! My G.P is consulting with his senior for more options but I can't wait. Tests confirm they are abnormal cysts but cannot be operated on almost every month!
Avatar f tn I am sorry you are going through this. I had an ovarian cyst and wish my gynecologist had taken a conservative approach. Instead, I was rushed into surgery and over-treated. Scar tissue is a real risk. And there are other risks such as losing the ovaries and their life-long vital functions. Or even if the ovaries are not removed, the surgery could affect their function.
Avatar f tn I have bleeding cysts but my doctor says they arent bad enough for surgery is her right?
551683 tn?1220656108 The symptoms you are describing are very much in line with ovarian cysts. Do you know what size or type of cysts you have? Surgery for cysts depends on size, type and whether you are in pain. In many cases if surgery is required it can be done laporascopically. Don't ignore the cysts. You really should have a gyn dealing with them. Take a look at the health pages attached to the ovarian cyst forum. There is some good information on types of cysts that you might be helpful.
Avatar f tn I just went and got an ultra sound and found out that I have ovarian cysts. Will I still be able to get an abortion? I really did not want to get surgery, I wanted to take some medications for the abortion.
Avatar f tn I can not say that this is always true with complex ovarian cysts. As for testing for them, you can talk to your doctor about your concerns and see if he thinks that a C-125 test should be done. Most likely they will say no due to your age, but after surgery is performed, the cysts are sent out for biopsies to test for cancer.
Avatar f tn Surgery to loose the weight as in lap band surgery or the gastric bypass surgery. I did have to have a hysterectomy because of the pain I was in. I had taken birth control pills to help it but then I developed a lot of blood clots, sixteen in my right lung alone and I had to be removed from those. So the pain of PCOS came back with a vengence. It got so bad I just couldn't take it anymore and ended up having a hysterectomy.
Avatar n tn There is no way to tell if it is cancerous with out surgery. It is a very good thing you are seeing a Gyn/Onc. If you have surgery, they would be the best Dr for the procedure. If you feel uncomfortable with the wait and see approach, talk to the Dr and maybe seek a 2nd opinion. An elevated CA 125 does not mean there is cancer. My numbers were always out of the "normal" range but my cysts were benign. What kind of cysts does he suspect? It's so hard to wait!!!!
Avatar f tn Mostly they are symptomless But Ovarian cysts can, however, cause problems if they twist, bleed, or rupture. Most ovarian cysts will go away on their own. One of the most effective treatments for ovarian cysts is use of contraceptive pills or progesterone pills. It can also be treated surgically and this procedure is known as drilling. Other modes of treatment are laparoscopic surgery, laparotomy or surgery for complicated ovarian cysts.
Avatar f tn In January of 2009, i had emergency surgery for an ovarian cysts on my right ovary. Apparently the cyst was 5 inches and twisted around my ovary. After the surgery, i had no pain up until June of that year. I had many ultrasounds done that confirmed i had small cysts. In April of 2010, i had laproscopic surgery to have a look to see what was going on. The doctor told me after that my ovary had dropped down due to a cyst and that my right tube was blocked.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar f tn By having your ovaries removed, you will reduce your odds of getting both breast and ovarian cancer. If you are in pain and your cysts are growing, then I would opt to have them removed. I wish you the best on making this decision!
Avatar f tn I am sorry you are dealing with this. The good thing is that most ovarian cysts are benign and most resolve on their own. However, these sound like the type that do not go away so need to be surgically removed especially the larger one due to size. According to radiology websites, hypoechoic cysts are usually endometriomas or teratomas (dermoids) both of which are benign (non-cancerous) cysts. Of course, imaging is not exact so they cannot know for sure until they do surgery.
Avatar f tn Anechoic cysts tend to be filled with fluid so that is a good sign. Cysts related to ovarian cancer tend to be complex (with solid parts) and grow larger than 5cm. Most cysts (even complex ones) turn out to be benign. It is the general recommendation to watch and wait cysts that are simple and under 5cm. But, since your cyst is already 4.1 cm., I can see why your doctor has mentioned surgery as a possibility. It is possible for your cyst to go away on its own in time.
Avatar f tn what is the largest ovarian cysts reported and can it make you look pregnant... sassyk.
Avatar f tn Good afternoon. I just stumbled across this site after googling ‘ovarian cysts‘. I wondered if anyone out there has ever been in my (worrying) situation. I am 27 years old, a mummy to a beautiful 2 year old and 12 weeks pregnant with my second baby. I had an emergency scan around 6 weeks into this pregnancy due to pain on my right side. My GP feared an ectopic pregnancy. To my relief baby was fine. However, an 8cm side was found on my right ovary with a daughter cyst inside.
Avatar f tn I am 16 years old, I was diagnosed with ovarian cysts after many times to the hospital in may. I've been to my OB several of times. But everytime I go she kinda brushes off my symptoms. I'm having fatigue, low energy, frequent headaches, back pain, hip pain, and of course low abdominal pain. I'm also in constant pain, at times it gets worse.
Avatar f tn Only about 5% or less of cysts are cancer. However, benign cysts can still make us very ill and require removal. This surgery is very commonly done with minimal risk, although any type of surgery has some risk.
