713386 tn?1235951442 t want to risk spilling its contents when trying to squeeze them through a key hole incision. A surgery consisting of keyhole incisions is called a laparascopy. For me, my surgery, although it was a regular open surgery, was quite easy to recover from. I have had a c-section in the past and that was WAY more painful than this last surgery to remove my cysts. Don't worry too much.
Avatar f tn I've been prone to ovarian cysts for 5years and am in near constant pain with them. I've tried different contraceptions, painkillers and keyhole surgery but they always return. My doctor said removing my ovary would be best but im too young- im only 21! My G.P is consulting with his senior for more options but I can't wait. Tests confirm they are abnormal cysts but cannot be operated on almost every month!
Avatar n tn Most cysts eventually resolve on their own. Surgery is not usually needed. Your doctor may recommend that you take an oral contraceptive and will probably want to monitor the cyst via ultrasound to see if it grows or (hopefully) goes away.
Avatar m tn my duaghter have big ovarian cyst 17*16*11 cm.what surgery will be done and is any danger to his ovary and later can she pregnant.she is only 11 years old.
Avatar f tn Iv been Looking on here and I see lots of people have key hole surgery to remove dermoids and other cysts so why does my gym insist I have open surgery is it because I'm over weight does anyone no thanks
Avatar f tn The recovery from keyhole surgery is significantly shorter than open surgery. As for open surgery I have read the vertical incision is more painful than the horizontal incision.. sorry to say :( It would take you at least 6-8 weeks to be able to do your usual tasks. I wish you all the best.
Avatar f tn Maybe ask your doctor to refer you to an oncologist near to your area and ask if they will conduct the surgery through Laparoscopy (Keyhole) or Lapartomy (Open incision). I have had keyhole and I recovered quickly and didnt find it painful at all, easier than I expected, but I am due Laportomy and dreading that recovery!
Avatar m tn It depends on weather u have key hole or open keyhole is norm out the next day open is 2 to 5 days also recovery time 4 keyhole is a few weeks open is 6-8 weeks good luck and I hope this helps I'm waiting 4 the same op
Avatar f tn Had anybody had robotic Laporoscopic ovarian cyst surgery? I'm having this done to remove an 8cm dermoid cyst.
Avatar n tn Just to let you know - cysts removed by keyhole surgery - endometriod cysts, but strangely, no sign of endometriosis. Biopsy results have come back as benign. Thanks all.
Avatar f tn Laparoscopy uses several small incisions often called "keyhole" incisions, one at the belly button and approx. 2 or more elsewhere, depending on what needs to be done. Since the incisions are smaller, healing time is shorter as well as the hospital stay. It is often an outpatient surgery. It is still abdominal surgery so anyone getting it needs to be mindful not to overdo it with lifting, etc., since a lot more internal healing is occurring than meets the eye.
Avatar f tn The removal of the cyst may be through a laparascopy (small keyhole incisions) or a laparatomy (normal open surgery). It all depends on the type and size of the cyst. Symptoms may not always be present, but cysts can be a real hassle to deal with. They may twist on your ovary and cause a lot of pain and discomfort. Not all women have pain though. Don't worry too much about it either; pain or no pain, small or big cyst, complex or functional, most cysts are benign.
Avatar f tn I was wondering if it would be OK to get on a long haul flight (8 hours) 5 days after laparoscopic surgery to remove ovarian cysts (both sides..one 4cm one 7cm..). I know there is a risk that one the doctor gets a look inside that he might need to cut me open (I've been using the terms 'open gut surgery' and 'the keyhole thingy' as they are easier to spell). I live in a country where medical facilities are very basic and will need to travel to Bangkok for the surgery.
Avatar f tn They dont have a clue I think like the first time and after a cat scan until they went in they did not know what they were dealing with and my scan was only last thurs so waiting to see consultant when ever that is I dont think I have the option of laproscopy, cause of adhesions, I have had 3 laprotomys 5 keyhole, and keyhole is not one they can do for me now, my last surgery was a laparotomy, things were a mess adhesions, they had to laser them I came back from surgery with all my thighs burnt
Avatar f tn I started to feel better after 2 weeks, its just small keyhole incisions (okay.. i shouldnt say its just that... it is still abdominal surgery.. But from comparing my laparoscopy to my laparotomy, recovery is so much faster and seems more minimal with laparocsopy.) For other options, it sounds like you mightve tried.
Avatar f tn If you let your body heal you can do all the dancing later. I to await surgery in sep for dermoid cysts. I will be thinking about you and get your surgery as soon as u can becuase this cyst grow at fast rates. Regarding your cyst did thr doctor tell you that he would be able to safe your ovary? just wondering.
Avatar f tn In 2014 I was told I no longer had PCOS and was instead diagnosed with two dermoid cysts, one on each ovary. Initially the cysts were 2cm each however, I have had a further scan earlier this year, only to find that the cyst on the left had grown to 4.2cm whereas the one on the right had grown to 3.8cm. My gynecologist suggested that I had a Laparoscopy performed as the cysts will simply grow.
Avatar m tn I recently was scanned and is still present and not getting smaller, I have been booked in for keyhole surgery, however got call from Gyn today saying my CA-125 level is 52 and need ct scan. Really confused and need toknow if cancer, not sure when ct scan is yet and if ovarian cancer can be treated and beat!
Avatar f tn Hello... I know you are worried sick about now...I went through something similar except my surgeon scared the *@#&@ out of me! My CA-125 was 26 and I had a large ovarian cyst as well...So, here's the thing...Most ovarian cysts rupture and fire off their egg and/or reabsorb. There are always cysts being made that enclose the eggs while they reach maturity. The CA-125 test is cr@p for testing ovarian cancer because it is influenced by hormone levels...
1778046 tn?1318437102 If there are any women out there who have had surgery for the removal of an ovarian cyst and/or removal of an ovary and/or respective fallopian tube I would like to read how it has affected your life; short-term and long-term. I do not mean to come off as insensitive to anyone who has gone through this, but I want to comfort her by keeping her optimistic and informing her this is not the end of her world/life; there are worse things (terminal things) she could've been diagnosed with.
Avatar f tn t know what the guidelines for flying after surgery are. You may want to ask your doctor that question. this is just my account of my surgery. prayers for your best health.
Avatar n tn t locate the strings to my IUD, so she ordered an ultrasound to make sure it was still in place. Thankfully, it was. But, during this ultrasound she found 2 ovarian cysts, one simple, one complex. I was advised to come back in 3 months for follow up. I went back in, and the left ovarian cyst had resolved, but the simple one on the right side had grown to 5cm. The doctor said "no big deal" and wants me to come back in February for my annual exam.
