It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. 940963 tn?1245946356 Surgery number 4 was knee surgery ( obviously not related but had to throw it in for acurate surgery count). Surgery number 5 in 2006 was laparoscopic oopherectomy and cyst removal. Surgery number 6 in 2008 was a laparoscopic cyst removal and apendectomy. And here we are today in 2009 where the docs are watching another stupid cyst to see what it does, but it looks like I might be facing another surgery!
Avatar f tn I am post memopausal and due to the history of ovarian cancer in my family, I am planning an elective removal of both tubes and ovaries by laparoscopic surgery. The date that is available is within 13 days of our planned trip to Disney World. Am I allowing enough recovery time or should I reschedule my surgery. I cannot reschedule the vacation.
Avatar f tn I posted about this on another site and I was told to see a gynecologic oncologist and not to trust an obgyn with doing a surgery. My obgyn told me I needed a laparoscopic cystectomy. He also did a CA-125 which came back 110 and my CEA was 5.0. My obgyn suspects endometriosis. Please help me. I am so nervous and scared!

1482581 tn?1289070444 I am 29 years old and I lost my right ovary to a large dermoid cyst in 1996 (it had wrapped around the ovarian and destroyed all of the normal ovarian tissue). Just this last September I had laparoscopic surgery for another dermoid (8.2 cm in size) on my left ovary. The doctor was able to remove the cyst only and reconstruct my left ovary. I have had two normal menstrual cycles since the surgery. I really want to have a baby asap.

Avatar f tn Hello! I'm 47 and recently had an ultrasound due to abnormal bleeding, really to check out/biopsy my endometrial lining, but they found a 6cm complex cyst on my left ovary. The blood test to detect ovarian cancer came back okay, but the doctor still recommended removing the cyst, and I agreed as I have been having some discomfort.
Avatar f tn There is no way we can determine if your cysts are cancerous or not, although most ovarian cysts are benign. Have you had a blood test called a CA-125 done? What has your doctor advised you to do and has he run any blood tests yet? A 5cm cyst is not that large but most doctors will remove a cyst that is 5 cms. or larger if they aren't a functional cyts that could resolve within a few menstrual cycles. A calcified cyst will not resolve itself as it has hardened.
Avatar f tn t do a surgery only team medical doctor will do the surgery for my ovarian cysts he will sent my result to my GP then my GP sent the result to royal London hospital I need to wait for 4 to 5 weeks my symptoms started last Nov.
Avatar f tn 1. What type of surgery: laparoscopic (small incisions) or laparotomy (open surgery). Laparoscopic surgery = about 1/3 the hospital stay and recovery period compared to laparotomy. Surgeons have compelling reasons for or against the different surgical options. Listen to them. 2. If laparotomy, vertical or horizontal incision? Again, there are different reasons for going with one or the other. 3.
Avatar f tn Hi, Just browsing the internet and figured I'd put myself out there... I had my first ovarian cyst at 18 or 19 years old and I'm now 22, almost 23 and have had multiples ovarian cysts since then. Just a week ago, I had a 9cm. cyst removed. This is taking such an emotional toll on me. I'm afraid this will affect my fertility and health. Also, OTC pain medications do not help at all unfortunately.
1016941 tn?1292444386 Ovarian cysts usually go away on their own, however, ovarian cysts can persist and get worse. If too many cysts cover the ovaries, eggs to fail to develop or be released. If this is the case for you, you'll need laparoscopic surgery to remove the cyst(s). Do you notice any other symptoms during your cycle? There could be one of a number of fertility challenges.
Avatar f tn I have PCOS and a history of ovarian cysts. I also carry the genetic marker for ovarian cancer. My greatgrandmother had ovarian cancer at 36, my gma was 41, my great aunt was 43. My mother and her sisters all had hysterectomies in their early 30s. I have a bicarnate (sp?) uterus and it is partially attached to my bladder. This hasn't caused me issues except when I've had uterine fibroids when I was younger. At this point I have scheduled surgery for April 1.
Avatar f tn I had a ovarian cystectomy in 1986, total abdominal hysterectomy in 1994, bilateral salipingoophrectomy and ovarian cysts removed in 2005. This year I had a CAT scan for another medical issue and it was discovered that I had masses both right and left adenxal area. I went to the Cancer Institute of NJ for a consultation with a GYN/Oncologist. After numerous tests including MRI, Ultrasounds, CA-125 (negative) and I had lab work done which indicated I was premenopausal.
Avatar f tn In most cases, ovarian cysts are benign, but larger cysts, complex cysts or ones that are causing pain may need to be removed. Often, they can do a minimally invasive laparoscopic procedure with a shorter recovery time and very small incisions. Good luck at your appointment next week! I know that waiting can be hard. I'll keep you my thoughts!
483733 tn?1326798446 You know... I read something the other day that tied smoking to Ovarian Cysts too. Now, I don't know if that's scientific or not.. But I used to be a heavy smoker. . Of course, they tie smoking to just about everything don't they?
